Hypothetically, about 30 years into this California Dream his second wife began having memory lapses. Nobody could tell him anything about her condition. He stood on the east bank of the largest river in the world De-nial. Her boat got nearer and nearer the west bank. She began seeing her deceased Mom, Dad and brother or asking where they went. Instead of compassion, mercy, and going along she got long lectures and rational proofs on the nature of her reality. They had been dead 20 years. DONE! When she said day sfter day she wanted to go home she got long lectures and rational proofs on the nature of her reality. She WAS home. When she packed a shoebox with a toothbrush and other items and was found by a neighbor wandering on the boulevard a mile from home, no bells rang for her husband in this jypothetical case. Not in all the times she wandered or was found hiding under a neighbor's truck. Hypothetically, step-children visited, were taken to a room where generations of photos were arrayed on a table, "I'm trying to identify these before my memory's completely gone." Few recollections were left. A few photos got a few words on the back. The children promised a nice place to live in a favorite town. A hypothetical time arrived when the couple could no longer manage a home. Husband was home-cared for 7 months. His wife needed care elsewhere. A family elder care pro in a favorite town recommended Aegis. Hypothetically stepmom moved in, was evaluated and integrated into Aegis programs. She assisted with food-related tasks, was offering mentoring tips to Aides and others. She bloomed. The hypothetical family was hypothetically pleased with this reversal. The hypothetical stepmother was reunited with her hypothetical spouse in a super nice facility with standard memory care. Not the same as Aegis.

In that 3 months he had a total of SIX 911 calls landing him in the hospital. We couldn't figure out what was going on at the time but we now know he wasn't being given his doctor ordered life saving medications properly or at all. Medications were stopped without doctors orders nor the family being notified. This ultimately led to him going through withdrawal symptoms over and over again and him suffering the last 2 months of his life.He had a major stroke in June of 2023 leading to him passing away 3 days later. He was supposed to be on 2 different medications to prevent a stroke from occurring. It was listed on his Lexington med list but not being given. We were paying for him to have his medications given to him and that wasn't happening. When talking to the LVN in charge he told me that he has found other residents with medication errors in their charts as well. I asked him who was responsible for my dads death and he smiled and said " the Lexington and probably me". The Lexington was horrible with communication and answering calls, the staff is rude to the families and the residents, they did not answer his pendent presses in a timely manner( sometimes it was 90 minutes before his call was answered) the billing department messed up on his charges which took months to figure out and get the money returned. I did request that they return all funds from my dads stay there because they didn't do anything they said they were going to do. They agreed but in return I couldn't leave a review and I was going to have to sign a nondisclosure agreement where I couldn't discuss what happened to my dad at the lexington. I wasn't willing to do that because what happened was not ok and it could have been prevented. I had a meeting with the new management and I was hoping things would change and this would never happen to another family. I don't think things are changing because they are still getting citations from the state. Please check this web site for yourself to see all the fines the state has given them. If I could go back in time I would have never moved my dad into this place!! He was only 71 and had so much life to live. Not to mention that when the state went in to do an investigation on my dad's complaint the Lexington had deleted all of my dad's medical records. This was only 3 months after he passed away. Which they legally have to keep for 3 years! Good thing I had copies of everything and gladly handed them over to the state. https://www.ccld.dss.ca.gov/carefacilitysearch/FacDetail/565850111

I've been blessed to live…read morehere for a glorious month and I simply can't adequately describe how wonderful it's been. Disneyland has stiff competition for the proverbial happiest place on Earth. "Life in a cruise ship on land!" just might come close. Three meals daily served in either the large lovely dining room, delightful outdoor settings, your own apartment or "to go" include numerous menu choices for every meal. No paper tablecloths or napkins allowed, only crisp white linens and gorgeous fresh flowers on every table. For example, today's lunch options offered three delightful soups; assorted greens garden salad; fresh fruit salad; chicken and cheese casserole with roasted cauliflower; breaded baked pork chops in a creamy herbed sauce, OR a delightful vegetarian option. The dessert options are, unfortunately, far too delicious, plentiful and include six varieties of ice cream. Baked potatoes and wine or beer are offered daily after 4:00 pm. And speaking of "after 4:00 pm"?, this place LOVES to parTEE! Whether the every-Wednesday afternoon wine & cheese social, a holiday or even a pseudo-holiday, they roll up the carpets, tune up live band performances and dance the night (well, actually only the afternoon) away! After all, this IS a senior living center. There is also fantastic entertainment daily, including soloists or duos or small bands, and usually the first sound you'll hear when entering the lobby is the ivories' tinkling from the foyer grand piano. There are seemingly endless activities daily from cards to games and just about everything in between; group outings to the beach or museums or local attractions, and individual transportation in the Townhouse limo or van is almost always available. Just call ahead for a ride to medical appointments, church service, shopping trips, or whatever your heart's desire within Ventura. "Whatever your heart's desire" is made possible by the truly amazing, wonderful staff members you'll encounter everywhere. Often unobtrusive, one or more seem to pop up at your (virtual) first thought and they really seem to enjoy serving us all as much as we enjoy having them. Very open, friendly and generous, always eager to offer suggestions and ideas! Have I forgotten anything? Whoops, the barber shop or hair salon....manicurist/pedicurist .....loaded gym equipment in the basement area, or fantastic ocean and mountain views from the top, seventh floor group function areas and spacious balconies ? If I have, I'll try to take some photos next time. "Next time" ?? only if I'm not permanently banned from reviewing this awesome place and experience. The Ventura Townhouse IS both.

Boy, was I wrong. I agree with Bob F. and he wrote his review 7 years ago. The administration, especially Evan and Johnathon, tell you what you want to hear. I just found out that Johnathon is the owner's son, so that really tells you they don't care. If you do not have an advocate checking on your loved one, you had better get one. My dad was in memory care due to his Parkinson's. James, who runs Memory Care, and his staff try their best to help when problems come up, but they are extremely understaffed. When I went to Evan and Johnathon to complain about it a few times I got nowhere. I even told Evan he should go help change briefs as that is what James does to help out. My dad passed away 3 weeks ago and I have yet to get a call, card, or any condolence from the Townehouse. The staff at Memory Care showed our family much sympathy, but to get nothing from the Townehouse management is an utter disgrace.

I've never been so compelled to say something nice about a place! If you are looking for a place to…read morelovingly place your mother, father, cherished elder, Rowe Residence is thee place they need to be. We needed to find a place for my momma in March 2024 and Rowe Residence had a room open up so we grabbed it, having heard a few good things about them. We met the owners Tina and Toni on the day we brought momma in. They couldn't have been any more welcoming and helpful. We sat and filled out paperwork where they explained everything perfectly. Although I should probably back up - when we very first walked in, the first thing we noticed were the 5 very happy and calm residents sitting in their recliners, fully dressed and clean (if you know how important and wonderful this is, you know), either watching tv, reading, napping or chatting. The home is beautiful. It's not large, it's perfect. There are 6 small recliners, one for each resident (how wonderful is that?) in a small living room, which connects to a dining room with a large dining table. The residence is immaculate, and it smells incredibly clean and fresh (again, if you know how important this is, you will truly appreciate this). The backyard is so adorable with a bright patio rug, large patio table, manicured flowerbeds, and a nice "lawn" (it's faux, and it's perfect). Mom needed toileting/personal hygiene help, was ambulatory with a walker but always needed an assist, and had Alzheimer's - not a runner or escape artist, but definitely displaying some sundowning and mild agitation in the evenings. We were hesitant, but oh my God, the entire staff knew exactly how to take care of her, and what was best. I think having owner Tina Rowe as an R.N. serves as one of the biggest benefits of Rowe Residence. The day we arrived she looked at all mom's meds and felt some of them could have been lowered - so, in conjunction with mom's doctor she got some med dosages changed or omitted. And then, as time went on and they got to know mom and "figured her out," they would work with the doctor and increase or change meds as needed. We were kept in the loop at all times. Tina and Toni told us all the time that they wanted us to be able to be the family and just come "be" with mom, spend all the time we wanted to with her, and not worry about the care-taking. It was an incredible relief knowing she was so very well taken care of. Visits were absolutely wonderful! That leads me to the staff: I cannot sing their praises loud enough! The staff at Rowe Residence truly LOVE their residents, their "family." They talk to them, treat them, with such respect, as if each one of the residents is 100% absolutely in charge of their own life and making their own decisions. I loved seeing the interactions. All holidays and birthdays are celebrated and the place is always beautifully decorated with a theme. The food is home-cooked and always looks and smells absolutely wonderful! I truly fell in love with the staff, the residents, Tina and Toni, and the home. I miss visiting and sitting with my momma on the comfortable patio; we lost my mom in January 2025 - and Tina and Toni were right there with us through the process, all of the staff were. While I am heartbroken my mom is gone, I am so very thankful her room opened up to allow another beautiful senior to live their life with love, respect, dignity, and family, at the Rowe Residence. Thank you again Rowe Residence, you made all the difference in all of our lives.
