Thomas is great! Check it out!! I've been coming for years. Old fashioned experience!

Have been going to Thomas for years - Always receive a quality haircut. And I enjoy talking about sports with him!

Thomas is always so kind and welcoming. He takes the time to listen to what we want and does a fantastic job with my son's haircut. We always have a great experience and highly recommend him! read more

AVOIDDD! This place is extremely overpriced at $34. The barber's hand is very shaky and he cuts WAYY too much than what's asked for. He doesn't ask for ur opinion and just cuts to see what he likes. Also, he does not warn you that it is cash only so i wasted 30 minutes trying to get cash while he held my personal belongings as a collateral. read more

Nothing super fancy here but if you're looking for a quick, affordable haircut this is a great place. I've been going there for 5 years and always walk away satisfied. Feels very old school right down to the 70s music always playing on the radio. Just be sure to bring cash because they don't accept cards. read more

Strongly agree with the other reviews about hair length. The barbers care very little for what you ask for. If you have any hair longer than an inch and a half, he will cut it down regardless of how much you ask for. He even decided to shave down my eyebrows without asking, and I don't mean just trimming around the edges. read more

Absolutely terrible haircut. Small dude I think his name was Tim. I asked for a bald fade and he left a ton of lines and it was incredibly uneven. It was 'bald' but it just looked terrible. Do not recommend coming here. read more

This is my go-to place for my haircut. Typically, there isn't much of a wait. I'm always happy with the way my hair looks. The music is always southing. The haircuts are very affordable. read more

If you like a short, military-style cut you will probably be satisfied here. But Thomas does not like long hair on men, and he will cut it short no matter what you tell him. A while ago I asked him to leave a good 2 inches on top and back -- he gave me crew cut. Yesterday my hair was very long, way past my ears and collar, and all I wanted was about 2 inches cut off. Instead he cut off 4-5 inches, after telling me my hair was too long. He makes his own decision as to how long your hair should be, ignoring what you tell him. I won't go back. read more

AVOID. Barbers hand is super shaky, and my hair came out terrible. Took off way too much in some places and barely touched the back, uneven doesn't even begin to describe it, had to even it out myself at home once I saw how bad it really was. Almost $30 a cut. read more

If I could give a negative review I would. If you in any way value your hair don't go here they ruined my hair line they just kept cutting more and more and more they did a horrible job on my kids hair and they put out a coupon in the booklet of coupons you get in the mail and refuse to take it after cutting the hair this place shouldn't be in business read more

I am a student at UC Davis. Not a hipster, as others here may assert - I came here because my parents had wanted me to cut my hair before returning the following week. I am not the sort of the individual to lollygag nor do things I am not supposed to do. I also came here because as is everything in Davis, the people at the neighboring hair salon were appointment only and booked for the next two weeks in advance - more like a restaurant than a barbershop. Honestly, at first, everything seemed fine, and the hairdresser in question, a man in his 50s or so, appeared to do a bang-up job. For this reason I will add one more star than I would otherwise give. The problem was that I didn't have any cash, and my phone was half dead. To make matters worse, I didn't have a credit card on hand. Rather than tell me to come back the following day, he had the audacity to take collateral and took my backpack from me. I have assignments and important papers in there. I have things I need to do. But that was not what upset me, for all of this is replacable and homework can be done at home. What upset me was the overwhelming and sheer audacity of the shop owner for castigating me and making him wait. He got upset continuously and lambasted me for wasting his time when I had went to every business, all the passers-by, everyone to find a way to convert Google Pay to cash, but nobody was willing to do so. This frustrates me. I understand it is cash-only, and if he were to get angry at me, so be it. That's all fine and good, after all, I didn't bring any money. If allowed to go on a little bit of a tangent, I'd call it a bit behind-the-times, but whatever. I have a fondness for things like that. What bothers me is the nerve. To claim you support students yet to take away a student's backpack; this is absurd. Had he done no such thing I still would have returned the next day and paid him in full. For the record, I already have. Don't come here, ever. Especially not if you don't have cash-in-hand. The workers here will illegally confiscate your items in a flagrant violation of the law. read more

This barber place always reminds me of my childhood when my grandpa used to take me to local barber shop for hair cut. I have been using this barber shop for years and never disappointed. Just tell them what you like to do and they will make it happen. Just make sure to bring cash as they are cash only. read more

You'll only find luck here if you want some sort of military buzzcut. This was honestly the worst haircut I've received in my 20 years of life. I knew I fucked up in choosing this place when I showed the barber visually how much I wanted cut off the top, I even said it verbally that I wanted about an inch. He then proceeded to chop like 4 inches off and left me with an inch on the top instead. To give context, I came in with an overgrown middle part and wanted a mullet, however I asked to keep most of the top and leave a bit more bulk in the back. I felt bad for the guy, his hand shook as he used his razor and I could tell from the sound of machine that it was on its last breath. After messing up the top part, he didn't even blend it with the back so it makes me look like I have some sort of post apocalyptic hairstyle. I came home and try to fix it myself and that's when I noticed even more errors, there were parts he straight up missed when cutting. It's all beyond the point of salvaging so I'm just going to another place for a buzz. read more

Thomas is great, I've been going here for years! Maybe not the hippest place, but old fashioned and high quality.

It was by far the worst barber I have ever seen. I asked for "dissent haircut" and said like style number 1, in less then a couple a minutes, the work was done! I was so shocked that he asked for $25, I just paid and left. I'm new in Davis, and did not know it's that bad! read more

Came here for my haircut and the woman there cut my hair. It didn't turn out the way I wanted and she also burned my head with the clippers. I'm not saying this place was all bad, but if you're a black man looking for a haircut, I would skip this place. read more

If you are a man and describe your haircut using numbers this is a great pace to get your hair cut. If you bring in a photo of the latest boy band please go elsewhere and spare us your whiny review. (Yes I am giving a generous 5 stars because of those silly 1 star reviews. Thomas deserves better.) Service is always quick and courteous. Cuts are close and clean. I like that the edges are shaved not clipped. That's what separates a barber from a beautician -- a hot towel and straight razor! read more

This place sucks. Worst haircut ever. I went in with decent hair and just needed a trim for an upcoming job interview and left with a haircut reminiscent of a troll doll. The guy also cut my face numerous times while giving me a beard trim. Incompetent barber with inadequate skills to cut even a simple haircut read more

I was in a huge hurry and my first choice via Yelp! Was closed (what is it with barbers closing on Mondays?). I spied the barber pole and saw an empty seat. The gentleman ushered me in and I mentioned that I only had about 20 minutes to which he said "a nice clean up?" and I said "great!" As he was clipping away, I realized it was cash only. Ugh! Anyway--he finished (a nice job with a straight edge) and a great job! The best haircut I have had since I left Madison (the land of Mr. Rudd)! The gentleman was completely understanding and helped me find an ATM. I wish Olympia had this place! read more

If you're out of options and MUST get your haircut, then make sure you ask for a price first. Was charged almost double the posted price. Haircut was mediocre at best. Answered the phone to talk to a repair shop mid cut, unprofessional. read more

Good cuts, usually a small wait but the hot shaving cream and the straight razor clean up after the cut is undeniably the best part read more

All of the people here writing one star reviews are not the kind of people you want to spend time with, just a bunch of complaining Karens... Don't listen to the one star reviews, this place is amazing. read more

Best aspect is the linoleum floor. Not a fan of shaving my neck. Trim works just as well. Three weeks later, haircut still looking good. Wouldn't go back, but did the trick when i needed it. read more

Service is good but not all the barbers who works there are equally good. $13 is a very reasonable price in Davis. I am giving only two stars is because of the HYGIENE issues...they dont change the razor blades between customers and keep using the same one for the whole day. They only dip it in a sanitizer. This is not enough and could help transmitting diseases between customers. read more

Very solid barber shop! Thomas is the man! Great traditional barber cut complete with the straight razor clean up of the neck and sideburns. The wait is never too long and the service is great. Very consistent haircuts. read more

Nice little shop that is quick and affordable. The gentlemen that does my hair is always nice and knows what I like.

You have to understand the barbers and what their limitations are. If you are looking for a regular haircut, like a regular comb over, or buzz cut this place does the job. For a beard trim they do a good job also. However if you want a stylish haircut, I would recommend to go to a different barber in town. But for a simple cut, it's a good place. They recently jacked up the price to $20/haircut, I remember it being $16/haircut not too long ago read more

I feel bad rating this place so low, but when the left part of your hair is clearly not symmetrical with the right, it's difficult to give anything more. The barber I had was nice and polite, but this haircut is not what I asked for whatsoever which is what matters in the end. read more

You have to know what kind of barbershop you are walking into when you go here. ABS is not the kind of place to get your man bun trimmed up with the lines cut in your eyebrows. You are getting a gentleman's haircut. I have been getting my 3 on the sides and short scissor cut on top for the last 15 years and I don't expect that to change for the next 15. Know what you want, communicate, leave happy. If that experience sounds up your alley check out ABS. read more

I've had a few so-so haircuts here - nothing spectacular, but they were cheap. The best haircut was done by a man in his 60s who was talkative if you wanted or quiet if you wanted, but he did a great job regardless. The next (and worst) time I had an absolutely horrible hair-butchering experience with a man in his 40s or 50s who, without asking me, used some kind of hair gel that smelled like ham. Yes, ham. I walked away with a shitty haircut, smelling distinctly of ham. read more

I would like to give this place a better review but I just can't. The first time I have gotten a haircut there, I was fairly happy with the job. The young Asian lady there did a good job. The second time I went, I had to walk out before I got humiliated further. The owner was very rude. She treated potential customers who walked in by ignoring them and then rudely asking them "What do they want?" when they patiently wait without paying a word, and continues with the attitude afterwards. I'm sure her employees are great people, but she turned me away from Aggie's Barber Shop forever. read more

The haircut was 15 dollars, and not worth it at all. The barber barely spoke English. He was not able to cut my hair in the way I requested.

worst barber shop I have ever had. The barber hurt my skin 3 times until I angry to him. Very bad result

SUCKS hard and RUDE barber. This is my first visit, so there might be some communication problem, so the barber dont actually understand what hair cut I want. So he gave me an unwanted hair cut. If at this moment, I have not asked for change it for a better hair cut, it would be much better now. But I asked, then he changed the hair cut, and it is even for worse. Even at this moment, I am just unsatisfied, not so unhappy about this barber. When I said I am unsatisfied with the hair cut, the barber got really angry, and he even said that I am giving him much trouble. Even his every move is like with anger, I was kinda worried whether he will hit me.. and I felt really unwelcomed in this shop. One way to ruin people's lives is to ruin their hair, If you want to commit suicide, come to this shop. Satisfaction Guaranteed. read more

To a new resident of Davis, this looked like a good traditional shop. As I was getting my hair cut however, my cell phone rang. My wife had been sick that morning, so I took it out of my shirt pocket and gave her a quick..."you ok? i'll call you back". I handed this nasty looking old lady barber my credit card for the cut, and she rang up $18, $5 more than the cut cost. I asked why. She showed me a sign on the wall about the size of a greeting card and not at all visible to a senior sitting in a barber chair 10 feet away that said "Do not answer cell phones. $5 surcharge if you answer." So I told her the house ate her tip, and will never go back. read more

Great place for an Old School cut! Gotta write your name on the tablet and request Thomas, he Is the barber you want, the younger lady is also good, but don't let the other guy cut your hair, he is super rough and it won't be a pleasant experience. Love the straight razor neck shave! This is truly a Barber shop not a hair stylist,It drives me nuts to walk into a place like great clips and they ask for you phone#, I just want a haircut man! O, and bring Cash, no credit cards. read more
