Stopped in this shop awhile back with my kid who has curly hair. They got him in the chair and ready to go, and when they looked more closely at his texture which is 3B/3C, they said they didn't have time to cut his hair. I know there isn't much diversity in Davis aside from the college students but it shows how little Davis businesses interact with black and mixed folks. Anyhow, super rude and unprofessional... Like way to make a young child feel bad about themselves! What kind of business sends people away? They are either prejudice or lazy as hell. Don't go to these old heads who think they can treat people like crap and maintain their reputation. read more

If you know, you know. 25 years (and counting) of 5-star cuts. From kids to old timers and everyone in between. Great photographs on the wall, too! Sukh is one of a kind. A multi-talented man and a Davis treasure. read more

I've been going to this place for years. A great barber in the area, always feel good after going

Sukh has been cutting my hair for at least 5 years. He's a solid barber: he cuts my hair exactly as I ask every time. He is quick, thorough and responsive. A phone call or a text gets an immediate response and appointment. Good guy. No hassles. read more

Best barber shop in Davis. Clean and tidy and caters to everyone. Make an appointment, you won't regret it.

Horribly rude. I called in to schedule an appointment the following morning so I asked if he had any available spots. He told me he doesn't have anything in the morning. I asked if 9 o'clock works (as a way to let him know I will be there at 9). His response was "I don't think you can understand me I have nothing in the morning" in a very rude tone. That's how you speak to a new customer? Barbers and their egos. read more

Dude had no appointments for over an hour and was still trying to rush to finish in one time slot (30 min). I walked out after barber was being argumentative and wouldn't help me pick a haircut. Invictus barbershop answered my questions and had much more welcoming staff, so I was not the one being rude read more

If you're looking for a new barber, look no further. I recently moved back to the area and needed a cut bad. I checked all the local spots in yelp and noticed lots of good reviews from Razor's Edge so I gave them a shot. I tired walking in first but the team was booked solid, o called a few days later, the team was still pretty booked but luckily for me, there was 2 spots open the following day. Until my recent move, I had been going to the same lady for over 20-years. I had a couple photos of the type of cut I wanted, I showed them to Sukh and after a minute he got down to business. He moves quickly but not rushed, he's just really good at his craft. We chatted it up while he cut my hair and after what seemed like just a few minutes, he was finishing up and having me look my new cut which was great. Luckily for me I found my new spot and I'll be back for sure! read more

Great barber shop! I have been to every barber shop in Davis, and Razor's Edge was the last one I tried because it is tucked away and less visible from the street. It is was easily the best experience out of all them. They are by appointment only, because they have a steady stream of regular customers and keep a full schedule. That should already say something about the quality of the shop right there. I have very difficult hair to cut, but they were able to do an excellent job. read more

Best place in Yolo County. Basic or specialty haircuts. Adults and kids too. Prices are great. No walk-ins, so call ahead to make an appointment, and don't be late! You'll be in and out fast. read more

Chill barber, friendly vibe. Fast and quick service! Would definitely come back! He asked what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for. read more

ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS PLACE! I come inside hoping for a haircut for grad pics and he doesn't even greet me. I came here because the wait time was supposedly shorter than Motown. I walked inside and there was only 1 person ahead of me. The barber takes about 1 whole hour to cut the person. Mind you, the person in front of me was an older gentleman (probably 60s) and he doesn't have much hair so I honestly don't see how it could take so long. Anyway, so it's my turn and I greet him saying hey. Still doesn't even greet me. I sit down, he asks me what I want. I told him I wanted a combover with a fade up on the side with a 0 to 1. He looks at me and goes "why's your hair like this? Does your hair usually overlap?" I told him "I'm not sure, pretty sure it doesn't? Whoever cut my hair in the past did that". He responds "your hair design doesnt leave a good taste in my palette." So I asked him "so wsp? Are you going to be able to cut it?" And he says "maybe, I'll try." What kind of comments are those??? What kind of barber doesn't know how to cut hair when provided the instructions? Anyway, this dude doesn't even cut my hair correctly and nor is it straight. How and where did this guy even get his license? He's straight garbage and terrible. If you see other reviews about him being rude to younger folks, well guess what? Believe it. Absolutely no pros about this barber nor this shop. I hope this review leaves a bad taste in your palette too. read more

Razor's Edge Barber Shop - It's not straight on the side at all. - Barbers Near Me - Davis, California

Great barbershop. Both barbers know what they're doing and will work with you to get your hair how you want it. Plus they are super chill dudes. You can chat about sports, music, food, whatever, or sit there quietly and not feel pressured to talk. Whichever you prefer. Highly recommend this place. They're also super accommodating to last minute scheduling (though if you make a last second appointment be courteous and get there on time). read more

Reading his Yelp reviews makes me think the barber had good days and bad days. I think I went on a bad day. My cut was rushed, and I could tell he didn't like his job. It was bad hearing about how he didn't like cutting hair, but it was worse after getting an unfinished and rushed hair cut. Reading his 1 star reviews makes me want to avoid this place again. He complained at the end how has sick listening to his own customers haircut preferences FOR THERE OWN CUT. It sounded like he was about to quit his job that day. Overall unhappy with my cut and expereince. Not going there again and would recommend others to read other reviews. read more

He killed it. Great guy and great service. If you're searching for a new place give this place a call and set up an appointment.

I can't believe this dude.. this was one of the weirdest experiences of my life omg. This guy is extremely disrespectful and is inconsiderate. He legit has a toxic and disgusting energy, when I walked in I felt like something negative was hovering over me. He was talking foul about the people in town! He told me that he hates the students and that they suck and he said that they're little f***kers and wish they didn't exist, I asked him if he can give me a razor fade and he made a big deal about how it would take up all of his time, he also said that he only cuts whites and Asian and that he wouldn't need to perform razor fades for that reason. He also added with "there's no black people in this town so why would i ever perform razor fades, that's only for black people". He also confessed that he shits on peoples hair request and is not nice about it. This overall experience was very extremely unprofessional, don't go to someone that hates there career. read more

Honestly the best barber to get the bang for your buck. This barber does appointments only which will take 20 seconds to do over the phone. You want to get there early so you don't waste each others time. Charges $25 per cut and finishes in 20 min with a great result. You won't have deep conversations with Sukh, but you'll be in and out quickly with what you need. He usually works with medium/short hair, if you want a complicated haircut with longer hair this isn't the place to go. read more

(On google map it doesn't say appointments only and that's what I used to find this place, I come here to review it so more people can know this) I would give 0 stars if possible, I went there today and the second I went in the only guy was there was extremely rude to me. He started by asking my name, I told him my name and he said "no appointments, you just walked in?" Then, I tried to tell him on google it didn't say appointments were a must, it only said recommended and they will prioritize appointments. But, before I even finished my sentence, he stopped and said there's no excuse for me not to know they are doing appointments for a year already and I should know that because it on the website. Lol they don't even have a website. So then I asked can I make an appointment, he just said not today, then I told him how about tomorrow, he gave me two times and sounded like he doesn't give a crap. However I proceeded to make an appointment with him, but I'm not gonna show up, because I rather get banned from here than going back again. Remember, you are offering a service, simply saying sorry we are only taking appointments right now will solve the problems. Don't go there if you don't want to get disrespected His name is Sukh B read more

Probably the only legit barber left in Davis. I've only recently started coming to this guy, and I always walk out satisfied feeling good about the way I look. Sukh is a great barber. He's fast, and he truly cares about how you look before you walk out his shop. He's a super nice guy, and he's always willing to stay late if people come right before he closes. The place is super clean, which is a big plus for me because it's a sanitary and hygiene issue for me. It would be great if he had another barber who can line up in the shop since there aren't any barbers like that in Davis anymore, from my recollection. Other than that, love this place! read more

So I was walking around Davis looking for a barber and there are some good suggestions via yelp but man... I don't know about those places but I found no comfort walking in to those other places. Literally something came up at every barber shop I walked into that completely discouraged me. So I finally ended up at this place and I definitely am glad I came here. I really like the haircut I ended up with and had good conversation with him. There was a small wait since he seems to be running it solo -- to my knowledge -- but worth the wait. Also, cash only. That being said, don't expect this top notch customer service. He doesn't need you as much as you need him, and I have come to believe that. He gets plenty of regulars and I want to be his regular as well. The best part is that he communicates REALLY WELL regarding hair knowledge and what you need/want. That being said, make sure you know what you are talking about with your haircut. No barber can give you this dream haircut if you can't communicate with them. So for the bad reviews -- I have a feeling communication was lacking there. I have had the same barber for 3 years in LA and I am glad this is the first place I came to after moving here. He is definitely going to be my next barber for the next however many years I am in Davis. read more

I came in here with my boyfriend who really needed a haircut. The positives: -We were seen right away. No waiting. -Not too expensive. It was 20 dollars with a tip. -Haircut turned out nice and professional looking. The not so good: -Literally no talking. The owner doesn't try to make conversation or be friendly. -No use of razors! Which is confusing as the name is literally mentioning razors. I normally like a cleaner more edgy haircut and this was a more standard haircut. It wasn't bad and works in a pinch. read more

I've been here 5 or 6 times now and I think I have formulated enough of an opinion to write a succinct review. To those who read the 1 star reviews- they're not entirely inaccurate. Sukh is a no-nonsense kind of guy. He doesn't dilly dally, he doesn't coddle, he does business the way he wants to do business. I've come to the conclusion that I like and respect this. It's his place. If you want fake smiles and overly kind customer service, this probably isn't the spot for you. If you want a good haircut in a timely fashion with no nonsense- it IS the place for you. I don't give a crap if my barber chats about my day or what I've been up to, I get my haircut for the end product. I am happy with that end product. I did deduct one star because the initial 1-2 visits did take me aback a little with his bluntness, so that's a hurdle for some. read more

Don't be fooled by some of the one-star reviews. Sukh is an excellent barber, and I've gotten haircuts from him since 2010 and never had a bad cut. He's a bit gruff and will give you a straight answer or his unvarnished opinion if you ask a question, which may not be for everyone, but the service is good. He will also be up front and tell you if you're asking for a cut or style that he doesn't do often or have much experience with, which I would much prefer than have a barber say they can handle something and leave the customer with a bad cut. Lots of one star reviews from folks who look like they went in once and didn't know what they were looking for, while I see quite a few great reviews from regulars. Best barber in town. read more

It seemed like the guy was in a rush and was irritated when I asked for a taper on the sides (which isn't a difficult thing for a solid barber to do) to his defense my hair is rather difficult to cut, but i was not asking for anything other than a trim and a nice blended taper. overall it was the laziest cut I have ever received never going back Update: Yes, I went back. But I went to get this shizz fixed and he did kinda fix it but not quite, therefore still getting 1 star. read more

Razor's Edge Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Davis, California

went to all other shops when I first got to Davis, they were all trash and expensive. After finding razors edge and Sukh, I haven't even considered another barber in 7+ years. He's the best there is, you won't regret trusting the homie. read more

If you want a decent haircut but feel uncomfortable and unwelcome the entire time receiving it, this is your place. Seriously the barbers here reek of pretension and are generally asshats. Not sure if they hate their job, think they're too cool/good for everyone, or are always having a bad day when I go -but I couldn't recommend it on service alone. I don't even ask for much when it comes to service, just someone that is at least polite and cares about what they are doing. Overall, they don't seem to like their job, so do them and yourself a favor by going somewhere else. read more

Started going to this place last year and it was great! But over time the main hairdresser has lost his touch. I believe his name is "Suk" I'm. Or entirely sure how to spell it. Anyways if you lucky to get him to talk to you all he talks about is how he wants a career change, which I think would be good for him due to how the only hot cut he knows how to do is a buzz cut. I suggest if you want a good hair cut don't go this place and find some where else, unless you want a buzz cut and no social Interaction. read more

Aweful customer service! Overprice to students without asking extra sevice. Said $20 upfront but charged $30 afterward.

I've been getting my cuts from Sukh for about ten years, off and on. I often go somewhere else as an expedient, because Sukh is a busy man and so am I. I've had a few good cuts elsewhere. I've had a lot of average cuts elsewhere. And I have definitely been pounded elsewhere - I mean pounded. The kind of haircut that just kills your soul. Whenever that last one happens - when I have been wrecked, and I find myself in the pit of despair because the last thing a lumpy-looking middle-aged man like me needs is a bad haircut - I come back to Sukh with my tail between my legs. He fixes it. And I fancy myself again. I see a few negative reviews laying around - that's the beauty of Yelp. I myself have been merciless on Yelp once or twice. Regardless of the tempest, I can tell you that Sukh has been in business as a sole practitioner a long time, and he doesn't have to sit around much. That says what you need to know. read more

First time I come in and it'll be the last time too. I only came here because Mo was closed. As I was walking in I instantly didn't feel a good vibe. The barber was cutting someone's hair and they were just talking and talking to a point where he wasn't even cutting his hair. When it was finally my turn the dude straight up told me 'what do you want'. I want a haircut foo... that's what I want. I was literally there for no more than 10 minutes getting a haircut and it looks like crap. Most barbers I go take more time on your hair to make it look really good but definitely not this guy. read more

Far and away the best barbershop in Davis. I've tried all the others (and half a dozen in Sac), and they don't even come close. I moved from LA a few years back, and I missed my barber I used to pay $40 for the best haircuts I ever had--until I found Razor's Edge and Sukh. Incredibly reasonable, fantastic haircut, and I really appreciate how seriously he takes safety during this pandemic. read more

Been coming here for a few years. His cuts are fine, but can be really off-putting/rude and is obviously nicer to his "loyal" customers (aka anyone that can talk sports or is not a student). If there's anyone else in line it can take forever. I finally stopped coming when I showed up at open with only two people ahead of me. An hour later I just leave. He would stop cutting and just chat with the person in the chair. These people had short crew cuts too. I was also getting sick of his constant complaining. I feel like people who gush over this guy haven't gone to many barbers before. Shop around people, I wouldn't bother with this place unless no one is in line and you need a simple cut. read more

Having just moved to Davis, I hadn't established a new Barber quite yet; especially due to COVID, so I was seriously lookin' like side-show Bob. The owner took care of me and was spot-on excellent with my haircut, which is rare for me on the first time within a new area/barber. Furthermore, he was easy to talk to and honest, definitely will be coming back. read more

Iv'e been taking my two sons here for a few years now. Sukh always takes care of us even if he's busy. He knows exactly how the boys want their hair and does it right every time. I'm bald or I would have him cut me too. Razor's Edge has a huge customer base of regulars and Sukh makes sure to take of everyone. read more

Rudest customer service I have ever encountered from a barber shop, if you are going to give your potential customers both attitude and disrespect then don't expect the business to keep coming in. I was going to give this place a try but the man was so nasty in his tone and obviously had no concern for how he treated his customers, I immediately left and went to the usual place I go for haircuts (Abba Salon- friendly service and a GREAT haircut). DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT LIKE I TRIED. read more

If i could get zero star review for the Customer Service on this Barber Shop, I would. Because the bald barber, who I dont know his name was impolite with the customers. I was waiting for a haircut because there was another customer. Someone called me and I answered the phone. It hasnt be 5 minutes. I was not shouting or even yelling or even laughing, I was talking on the phone and he asked me to leave. In my opinion, he should have treated me better; since I was willing to wait read more

I've come here three times, each time giving Sukh the benefit of the doubt. Reading the reviews I was convinced he was a cool guy, however after my experience here along with hearing my friends' own testimonies I won't be coming back here anymore.. Every time I've come to Razor's Edge he was always condescending and I felt as though he didn't care about giving amazing customer service. Felt as though I was just there as business for him, and I didn't feel welcomed. Also for the price of $20 I better get a satisfying haircut, but his fades and tapers weren't as tight and clean as I had hoped. read more

My usually Davis barbershop (Motown) was closed for the day so I had to go look for a new place. I have been to 5 other barbers in the area but I this was my first experience at Razors Edge. Pros: the place was empty so I sat right down. Neutral: the haircut, I have yet to put product in it, but I didn't come away liking it or feeling impressed. Pretty much what you would get a great clips. Cons: NO STRAIGHT RAZOR at a place called Razors Edge?? What?? Didn't seem to take his time with the haircut, also didn't ask how I like my sideburns, or rounded or square in the back, he overall didn't seem very engaged in the haircut. Summary: look elsewhere. Unless I just had a new barber or he was having a bad day, you can get FAR better cuts for the same price at other places that include a straight razor. Recommendation: go to Motown and ask for Ben. (I have no affiliation with them or him, but he has always provided exceptional service to me others in his chair). read more

The thing I absolutely hate the most about any Barber shop experience is having to wait forever. When I get a haircut it's because I need my hair cut because either A) I have something important to go to, or B) I've let it grow out too much to the point that I really need it cut. So, I really don't ever have the time to just sit and wait for over an hour in a barber shop. The first time I came here, no one was here and I immediately jumped into the chair and got my hair cut. Sukh did a fast job, but still one of quality. He didn't screw around and I appreciate it. I just need my hair cut, I don't need a dude going to town with a straight razor and clippers for an hour just for my hair to grow back in in three days. A little on the pricier side than I'm used to, but i figure it is a small price to pay for not having to wait forever (The one time I passed by motown, there were 6 people waiting, and they offer a student deal.) read more
