Prices and recommendations of what needed to be done varied drastically. I had friends recommend people they knew, which were nothing more than jacks of all trades and masters of none. So I went to the internet and called roofing material distributers, all to no avail. Everyone that came either had a truck that could hardly run with antiquated equipment or worse had no idea what they were talking about. One guy even told me just put another roof 4 or 5 roofs are ok??????? Well I was getting frazzled. It just so happened I was driving a few blocks from where I lived and saw this brand new truck, clean as a whistle with a crew of guys doing a roof. Well I stopped and asked the owner if I could get an estimate. He came by about an hour later. The company was Tri-state general construction. The owner knew exactly what needed to be done. I had went to a few homes that he had done. He had the contract to fix roofs for the solar company's after the solar panel installation. Everyone was thrilled about the job he did. He gave me an excellent price!!! Ordered the skylights and did not ask for any money up front. The thing that impressed me the most about him was his attitude and his professionalism. He also told me that he would not be able to do it for a couple of weeks due to prior commitments and the skylights were not standard size and had to be ordered. When the skylights came in he made an appointment with me for a Saturday. Great! They worked all day and came back on Sunday to finish the job. They also came back two days later to install new gutters and leaders. The machines they used to remove and install the roof, skylights, and gutters were top of the line. They removed ALL the debris and they cleaned up like they were never there. Now the reason I am writing this review is he did such a great job and I was so impressed with the quality of his work I felt it would be only right. I believe he did a professional, quality job both times at a fair price. The first paint job looked good for years and lasted well over 10 years (all you can reasonably expect). With the first painting, we had just completed an addition, so the job required painting both a new, fresh surface, as well as an 80 year old structure. Both times the crew prepared the house well. They sanded huge sections of the house, removing all the chipping as well as other faults of the old paint job.They were neat and environmentally conscience, using vacums with hoses attached to the sanders, working behind plastic sheeting and on top of drop clothes to contain the paint chips. The paint job itself was very professional. Dave also stands behind his work. I had some minor chipping that I thought was premature a few years after the second paint job. I called Dave and explained the problem. He came by and looked at the house. He stood behind his work and offered to touch up the area, simply asking that I be flexible with the timing (totally reasonable in my opinion - I offered he simply do it when he had a window of time). When the time came to do the touch up, he took a chip of paint off the house, went to the paint store to match the paint chip (we had the original color code/name, but Dave was cognizant of the fact that paint fades as it ages and is exposed to the elements - so the job required a slightly different tone to the color which the sample afforded him the opportunity to custom mix a paint to match the faded color) and then sent his crew over to prep and apply a fresh paint job to the area. The touched up area blended in very nicely with the existing paint job, so one could not tell the difference by color. This review comes from a guy that painted for a business in high school and college, after having been taught by my Dad how to do it right. I had many repeat customers due to the quality of my work. I also have run my own businesses over the years. Therefore, I think I have a fairly good idea of what to expect from both a business owner and a professional painter: I am happy to say that Dave delivered professionalism on both counts.

I was able to schedule the paint appointment pretty quickly. They finished the job in 2 days! Unfortunately, a wall anchor was damaged and the paint on some of the doors ended up sticking. The trouble began a couple of weeks after completing our apartment. In order to paint our walls, they had to remove and then reinstall some curtains. After the painters left, one of the curtains dropped out of the wall (picture 1'. When I requested they come back and fix the problem, Paintzen refused, claiming "the wall can't support the anchor" and to repair it would "go beyond your project's scope of work". On the contrary, the wall supported the curtains for 11 years until Paintzen came. The picture below shows screws without any anchors (picture 2). Surely, if they valued my business and their reputation, they would figure out a way to restore our wall to their prior condition. I escalated my complaints with the company but have yet to hear anything from them. I am reviewing my other options should they continue to ignore me. Bottom line: Paintzen may be fine for a simple and fast project like a bathroom. Do not trust them with a large project that could prove to have complexities. They may leave you (not) hanging.
