The on-site store had very limited essentials and only accepted cash. We were told the card machine was down, but another family checking out after a multi-day stay said it had been broken the entire time. There was no prior notice about the cash-only setup, not even an email, and that made things unnecessarily difficult for travelers just passing through. The mosquitoes were relentless. My sister, who is allergic, got bitten all over within minutes. There was no warning or signage about the bug situation and no repellents or advice offered during check-in. We ended up buying Benadryl and bug spray from the store, which thankfully helped, but it was expensive and wiped out all the cash we had. The man working at the store was incredibly kind and tried his best to help us, which we really appreciated. Inside the cabin, the space was cute and cozy but basic. There weren't many toiletries provided, so definitely bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. That said, we were really happy to have an oven and a sink, which gave us the option to cook and clean on our own. After days of road trip meals and takeout, that felt like a luxury. We also saw birds foraging near the cabin and got to canoe on the creek for free. That ended up being one of the most peaceful and memorable parts of our trip. My mom and I shared a quiet moment on the water that made the visit feel special in spite of the rough patches. This place has a lot of potential and could be great for people who arrive fully stocked and prepared. With better communication about the cash policy, mosquitoes, and what amenities are or aren't included, it could be much more welcoming for short-term visitors.

The food was good- buffet style- 2 types of turkey, prime rib, ham, twice baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, Mac-n-cheese, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, Brussels sprouts etc. All the food was warm/hot well stocked and buffet area was well maintained. The main lodge is beautiful and sits on the side of the hill nestled amongst pine trees overlooking a huge peaceful valley with their grazing cows. Before dinner you watch the sun set over the ridge as you enjoy a relaxing drink. We love their generous Tri-tip for two dinner. Steve grills it to perfection on an old-fashioned BBQ. Karen's 4 layered super light chocolate cake with homemade whipped cream is just to die for. During the summer they have country singers perform on their balcony and serve a delicious buffet style dinner featuring an excellent cut of beef. The only sad part is they are only open from Mother's Day until the end of October. One must plan ahead as they are reservations only and sometimes close for weddings and other special events. The owners were very accommodating and easily accessible for questions, but stayed out of the way and gave us our privacy, at the same time.They even built a campfire for us so my kiddos could roast marshmallows!
