I wrote a critical review in 2016. Now I am amending it. The hostile sales person appears to be gone. Their pricing and deal structure has changed for the better. The platform itself has been revamped considerably and the UX is vastly improved. Now you can go month by month for about $100. They also credited me back email credits I had before as goodwill. I am putting it at 4 as I am still evaluating but am much encouraged by the positive changes and attentive attitude. It remains to be seen how all this adds up to marketing results, though this is likely to be largely in my hands and market needs. I got a lead on a bigger job that didn't pan out. Net-Net, I wasted thousands of dollars. If you have unused email credits, most of them won't carry over. Most of the emails sent to the lists are not even opened, even when I made the lists super targeted and included award winning work, AB tested headlines and so on. So many people use this to spam art directors with junk that they're drowning in it. Most art directors don't have time to look, so they don't. When you cancel you--might find yourself trying to be retained by an abusive sales person. They'll call you to bully and intimidate you into continuing to subscribe. "So you don't care about your career?" As for their ancilliary services. I would strongly advise against considering them. For printed promotions, they say their designers are world class. But speaking as a professor, the samples they sent honestly are in the realm of C-grade student work. Put it this way, Apple will never hire any of their graphic designers. I just spent a month testing Agency Access and found it disappointing. I am senior level illustrator advertising to publishing clients. Many of them I have already worked for and they know me. I ran 2 email campaigns within the emailer/lists area of agency access and got literally no opened emails. I am not exaggerating this stat for effect. Literally not one client even opened the emails. I question whether these emails got through their spam filters at all. I cancelled my subscription after the first month. Total waste of money. read more

The Agency Access crew has been very professional and easy to work with. I was wary of the price, however I have already received more knowledge about promoting and marketing my photography than I ever learned in college. Additionally they handle a lot of the work that I am very bad at, which lets me focus more on my craft and my family. I always knew I needed to take the leap and take on my own clients and Agency Access really helped me bring this thought into reality. I have been a commercial photographer for a variety of local businesses and struggled to increase my outreach into more editorial spheres. I have relied on my personal network to find new work and clients and never had the time to upgrade my business. For me it was always difficult to balance seeking out new work with providing my best efforts to my existing clients, but Agency Access's team of consultants helped me with direction and with making solid forward progress. I now have a brand and have tight well reasoned portfolios that are easy to email, mail, or post on social. I haven't started using their database yet as I am still preparing my work, but I am already so proud of the outcome and how much more professional my portfolio has gotten. This alone will help me remain competitive in my region and I cannot wait to further increase my outreach. For me this was a win. read more

This company is all about the money. They don't give a @$& about the artist's. Lists are out of date. They hardly have any database for overseas magazines and many times I could have found the contact by googling. They over promise and under deliver. Their billing department gets very nasty if god forbid you're late. They market themselves as a 'community' but there is nothing 'community' about this company. Just poor management and plain greed. That cannot sustain a company long term. Don't waste your money. read more

I contracted with Agency Access for two years and I can confidently say that it paid for itself. I also learned about marketing and the effort it takes to consistently engage in it. The lists are mostly current BUT, there are many companies who have marked AA emails as spam and so they aren't receiving the emails sent. That can negatively impact your business. But, generally, the email lists are current and work. I went with the full service option and had a consultant edit several hundred images and advise me on branding and such--the entire initial infrastructure I have originally built was changed and made to be more consistent. And then came the campaign with the 36000 emails, and then properly designed and nicely printed post cards and then the direct calls. It all paid for itself. The best thing about this is that you have someone doing the work and making you do the work needed for the marketing--the most boring part of any business plan which most people put off or aren't consistent and persistent about. Marketing is an incremental process which needs to be continual and if you don't have the time or inclination you can only benefit from an out outfit like AA to do the work for you. I give it 4 stars because of the spam reputation many publication have marked AA with. That's something they have to work on to fix. read more

I did not take full advantage of their lists, but still they were riddled with innacuracies, out of date information, and irrelevant contacts. I started by building my own marketing list and switched over to getting my info from agency access. My list may have not been as big, but I know the info was higher quality. As for payment, agency access has tried to charge me AFTER my contract with them was up. I paid for their lists fair and square for a year and they are still sucking $60/mo. out of my bank account. I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a protracted battle to claw my money back, but it feels very deceptive and underhanded considering I very clearly told them I didn't want to renew my contract as I was no longer trying to be a freelance creative. I used AA for almost 2 years with nothing but issues. For an entire year i used campaign manager and was tossed around to FOUR different people within that year! How can you get anything done when having to restart with someone new so often?! The biggest thing that had me running was after I discovered wrong code in the email campaigns. So after literally a full YEAR of e-mail campaigns, spending so much extra $ on more credits, my unsubscribe/ open / click %'s started to look great! Then i started to receive emails from potential clients i wanted so badly to work for saying they unsubscribed and to "stop spamming them".....Yup. All this happened because Agency Access had written wrong codes making my numbers look so much better, and IM the one that discovered it. I was livid considering a whole year was wasted based on false numbers, making me look bad to potential clients. I was embarrassed, angry and upset that not just my money was wasted but an entire year of work and e-mail marketing GONE! This is documented with emails i still have between myself and AA. They recognized the code was wrong and I was never compensated properly for that. I was besides myself. Never ever would i even consider joining with them again. It's been a while but this popped up and i saw some reviews and wanted to make sure any creatives thinking of joining are warned. For my second try, I have worked it, with the experience of a while back a while ago, and nothing works. When my core photography biz evolved from editorial/mag portraiture to fine ahhht, I asked if they could switch me from my advertising list to art galleries and I'd be willing to eat the loss in price. All they did was try to convince me I needed the editorial/advertising agency lists and suggested I order the art gallery list as an add on. To what? To the lists that I'd said don't work for me? I couldn't believe how anti positive business building their approach is. I am willing to pay MORE for less and they still won't help? Insane company with no regard for working with their clients. I think it's time companies like this EARNED their business. Without charging me an upfront dime, they can happily take a small percentage of any new business THEY GET ME. I don't even remember signing my business email up and suddenly I was bombarded with multiple marketing messages per day. I could only unsubscribe to individual photographer lists and not their whole schlock-and-awe blanket campaign. I had to hunt for who was the originator of the emails and approach them directly to opt-out. read more

As a consultant i refer my clients all the time to Agency access for their lists and marketing tools (post cards and visual emails) and Ive worked wth them for years .I have always found their services top notch and their employees knowledgeable and helpful. In regards to the many posts here about the photographers not "getting a return"or any job from their investments with AA" I remind them that its not AA's job to get you work, thats your job. They provide the tools for you to use. If your not getting work, look at what you are offering the market and how consistent you are in your efforts. As a consultant of over 30 years Ive heard lots of photographers blame their suppliers for their lack of success when the real problem is the lack of content they are offering clients or their inconsistent approach to marketing. read more

Answered the phone under the influence of alcohol in the evening and spoke to someone from Agency Access. I said I would try there services and realized this the next morning. I am a very successful architectural and Interiors photographer. 60 covers on Arch. Digest but with their move to N.Y. from Los Angeles and a new editor there was no more work coming to those who worked with the former editor. Photographed for hotels all over the world. Thought it was time to do some real marketing which I had never done and with the ASMP "supposed" connection with Agency Access and all the E-Mail solicitations from them thought I would give it a try. Very nice phone people - I was definitely encouraged - so signed up for four E-Mail blasts in the catagories I was told would be relevant to my field....$2500 plus. All I can say is when you can't see if E-Mail lists are indeed relevant to your field until you fork over the money and sign their contract (which can NEVER be canceled) you are very foolish - which I definitely was. I own that. First of all, after my first blast Canada passed an anti spam law. This removed quite a few E-Mails from my blast. However, the "manager" I was put in touch with did not feel this warranted a reduction in my contract costs because perhaps they could help me in other ways. All of which involved extra costs. After my first E-Mail blast of 3-4000 names I was thrilled when they told me I had an open rate of about 1200. The 300 plus Canadian names were removed from that open rate which left 900. I painstakingly went over all the companies that had opened my E-Mail blast and found almost none were relevant to my field remotely. Many were in industrial fields, or manufactured plastics, tractors, built $100,000 town homes in the suburbs of St. Louis, built silos, machinery, factories, etc. These were the architects. None of these companies would EVER use me or pay to have me fly out and shoot for them. Or they made ribbons for dolls, made children's toys, etc. Most of the companies are heavily East Coast (which is where Agency Access is) or Mid West. Very few in California or on the West Coast or the West. I finally got down to the 10 companies out of the 4000 blasted that might in some remote way have use for an architectural photographer. Several of these had already requested they be taken the blast list. Do NOT sign up! Make your own E-Mail lists that you get from trade publications or looking up information on the internet. You will hit much more relevant contacts. I never did another blast with them and just let them continue to debit my card until I called today asking that they forgo the last deduction. The "manager" that was put on the phone started accusing me of being the problem and arguing with me that the contacts they gave me were relevant to my field, etc. Shall we say shouting at me and telling me there was no way that I was going to not have that last deduction. A horrible, horrible conversation. WHO are these people? They are in the marketing business for sure but mainly for themselves. I got the feeling the "manager" was very experienced in dealing with what must be many, many unhappy people who felt the same way I did. I simply wanted to get my very beautiful website in front of people who might hire me. Trust me, this is very unlikely to happen with Agency Access, especially if you are in a very specialized area of photography. read more
