One of our favorite happy hour margarita highlights! Matty and Cody are super awesome fun bartenders! The tequila selection is epic! Very cool casual inviting ambiance and dog friendly too! Tacos are yum ! And Matty and Cody are known by many of the locals.

Southern Pork, Jerk Chicken, and Veggie with Beef

I had been eyeing Taco Agave for a while since I have been making visits to Pensacola a few times a year. Today, it was located very conveniently as I attended Pensacon. I had viewed the menu a few times and thought that it was one place I had to try. Sadly, it ended in disappointment. Taco Agave? More like Taco Atrocious for me. For Pensacon, I think they had a limited menu. You had the starters to pick from and 7 different tacos to choose. I picked the Veggie and added ground beef, jerk chicken, and Southern BBQ pork. I started with the Veggie that came with ingredients such as some kind of black bean salad and sriracha ranch. I feel like I actually messed this one up by adding ground beef. The ground beef didn't go well with other ingredients and was bland. The next one was the jerk chicken. Pineapples and fried onions made this taco edible. The chicken did not have one bit of jerk flavor to it. There was some kind of yellow possibly jerky flavored mustard on it. But the chicken was so bland, it didn't help. The Southern pulled pork had Chipotle aioli, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, pickles, and collards on it. I don't like collards so I took that off immediately. I didn't taste much BBQ sauce on the taco. The pulled pork was better than the ground beef and jerk chicken. But overall, it was underwhelming. The place is also very small. They do put tables outside that helps. Also, they seem to be understaffed with one guy at the bar trying to manage everyone until finally a waitress came in to help. I had high hopes for Taco Agave. The presentation was good. But the execution on the other hand was not satisfying.

Tacos were very good! Well except for the regular taco, it tasted like beans, not beef. Otherwise all were very good. We ordered a variety and were not disappointed. One thing you should be aware of- This place is A BAR! So, you order at the bar after checking out the menu! There was some table service but it appears that is done by one of the two bar tenders working at any given time. However, it didn't appear to be an issue. We had no complaints. It was just a little different, I would advise that you think of and try to ask for everything you think you'll need up front. This place gets pretty busy! There is not a great deal of seating, so if you're in a party of at least 2 people, it may be a good idea that one of you grab seats and the other order if possible. That way you're sure to have seats. We were in a party of 6, and were lucky enough to grab 2 tables to join for our meal. Full bar and good selection of food. I'd recommend this spot. I'll be back. Update: I returned to this location and the tacos are still full of meat and toppings, which is a plus. I was literally full after 1.5. But sadly, the tacos weren't as good as pre-Covid. Perhaps that will go back to normal soon. I was however very disappointed to find out that the updated menu on line contained a "Taco Trio" Special, (Buy any 3 tacos and get $3.00 Off) That the restaurant is NOT honoring. The lady literally said to me: "I keep hearing about this Trio special thing from people, but I have no idea what it is". So I showed her on my phone. She then said "Well I don't know anything about it." I said, so I take it that means, no special? She stated "Yes." Didn't ask a manager, a cook, another worker, nothing! I spend a lot on eating out. So the $3.00 wasn't a big savings for me. BUT, if you advertise a Special, you should honor it. Your customers deserve that. So, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth (So to speak) with the lack of honesty here, and frankly I now have a lack of respect for this business. Which really does sadden me. I look forward to my visits here. Well, I did...

Grouper taco & Southern Pulled pork taco with the margarita special.

Oh my goodness these are the best street tacos I have ever had in my life! I got the southern pulled pork taco and a grouper taco and both were flavorful and just perfect! The bartender was very attentive while I sat outside on the curbside! Come in as soon as they open for the freshest of tacos!

Pensacola's best tacos! If you're looking for friendly + attentive service (I mean like real southern hospitality!), good margaritas, yummy queso + chips, and GREAT tacos, come. Here. This is your spot! Everything I have had on the menu is incredible! If they are offering margarita SLUSHEES, do that instead! They are better, in my humble margarita opinion. Can't wait to get back here! It's also in the perfect location with so much to do within walking distance.

Good tacos! Was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavors of the tacos. Wish there were more selection, but the 4 we tried were great.

This place is a bar that serves tacos. The chips were awesome, but the guac was bland and the tacos were just okay.

Awesome tacos, insane amounts of tequila options and Stephane was delightful. Will definitely be returning the next time I'm in Pensacola.

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen - Biri Biri Tacos and Steak Burrito

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen

4.5(53 reviews)
6.2 mi

I am not sure if there was another place near by called Lupita's fast food or if this is the same…read moreplace, but it seems like reviewers have got them confused. One review said they had the "best queso ever" at Lupitas Mexican Kitchen, but they apparently do not sell queso. So that was the first let down. The price of the 4 birria tacos was impressive, they were pretty good, just not amazing. The chicken quesadilla didn't really have any cheese, literally the chicken just fell out because there was nothing to hold it together. The steak burritos were decent, but again nothing to rave about. It did the trick, but I won't be back.

Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is just another great example of my long-held belief that the best Mexican…read morefood does not come from high-end or fancy restaurants that just drip with hipster ambiance, but rather I have always found that the best Mexican food comes from these humble little mom-and-pop places that are inexpensively furnished, but the staff is usually smiling and the food is often indicative of how truly amazing that Mexican food can be. Lupita's Mexican Kitchen has a pretty straightforward menu and I had it narrowed down to either a burrito or the birria tacos and I asked the smiling young lady behind the counter which of the two I should go with. After a momentary pause, she pointed to the birria tacos sign. I paid for my order and found a seat. In a few moments, the smiling girl called out to me and handed me my food. The plate consisted of four birria tacos, a cup of consome (it appears that is the correct spelling for this. I thought it would be spelled like the traditional consomme) and a few small containers of both a spicy red sauce and a creamy green sauce. The price point was thirteen dollars. Quite a good price for the quality and quantity of the food they provided. These birria tacos were very good. I tore into them with quite some gusto. Mexican food is truly a culinary gift. I would have to say that Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines and it is because of these wonderfully humble little mom-and-pop establishments like Lupita's Mexican Kitchen. If you find yourself in Pensacola, Florida and craving Mexican food, Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is a great place to head for. Overall, I would definitely recommend Lupita's Mexican Kitchen and I will give it five stars overall.
