Artichoke dip and meatballs and beautiful vegetable platter just to start out your evening, then moving into the big venue with a perfect little place for your band and dance floor, string lights for ambience. They never told us about the wedding they ended up booking; we found out about the wedding and they refused to talk to us much less refund us what they said they would. My parents took them to small claims court and won the case, and they still won't pay. If they had just told us that we could not have our deposit back, we would have made it work. But they chose to get an extra pay day instead. I would not want to have such uncaring, dishonest people in charge of such a special day in my life. And you can see from other reviews that this is a part of how they make a living. I hope I saved someone some stress and disappointment by finally posting our experience.

The property was well appointed and our room named The Vineyard Suite featured the most comfortable bed and sitting area with a spa style bathroom with large walk in shower and claw foot soaking tub. The meal was delicious and with the homes great room area with soaring windows allowing you to take in the natural surroundings it was perfect! The covered lanai was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee and watching the humming birds fly around their feeders. Breakfast was another wonderful experience chef style creations and delicious coffees. I highly recommend the bourbon infused one. A short walk across the lawn takes you to their winery, Carin Winery with a comfortable feel, large wrap around porch, large air conditioned space with tables and bar and a great selection of wine, beer and snacks. They even have rooms above the winery space, too. This would make a great place for a family reunion or couples get away. The two weeping willow trees on the property are not only an ideal backdrop but inspire one of their wines also. The location while secluded but is convenient to Ellijay, Amicalola State Park, neighboring wineries, waterfalls and adventures. We'll be back!

Chase was around all day of the wedding to drive us on the golf cart to anywhere we wanted to take photos on the property. Our friends and family enjoyed corn hole and the fire pit. The area for the reception was large enough to have a five piece band and a stage without feeling cramped. We ended up renting the one bedroom Airbnb on property for the groom and groomsmen during the day so we had plenty of space getting ready. Would HIGHLY recommend having a wedding here!! We knew right away we wanted a rustic wedding, speaking to both our childhoods. With my family from…read moreVirginia, my groom's family from Alabama, and our love of North Georgia, we zeroed in on several properties throughout this area. After visiting over five properties, all were either too rustic or too cookie cutter perfect. On our final site visit, we knew we had found THE place at Mountain Laurel Farm. The farm is located just inside the Chattahoochee National Forest which provides so many scenic views. Driving up, you're just taken away by the tranquil peace of the property. The barn itself is quite rustic, but it's so charming and still provides the basic necessities (restrooms, electricity). Although there is no climate control, we had no issue with the heat on our wedding date after opening all the doors and windows and adding a few household fans. I do wish there had been more resources in the catering room; I'm hoping Melody can make some upgrades there in the future (running water/industrial sink, ice machine, larger fridge/freezer). However, our caterer had no issues with making the catering area work for them. Melody, the property owner/manager, was incredibly easy to work with. She was so patient throughout the process, quickly answering all my questions and concerns. She has so much décor and so many props and furniture available at the barn, along with her linen rentals, you really only need to show up with your food and beverage. She had lots of good ideas about how to set-up the barn so that it would maximize space for our guests. We loved having access to the farmhouse for the wedding day. Although no one lodged there, it was a welcome place for me and my bridesmaids to finish getting ready, as well as a cool spot for our wedding party and us to rest after the ceremony and before photos. It was fun to look out onto the ceremony space before the ceremony and after and see all of our family and friends gathering for our special day. The property is located a short distance from a major interstate, and just off a main highway, with close access to resources (grocery store, entertainment and cultural activities, department chain stores). This was helpful to our friends and families, all traveling in from out of town. Most of our guests made a weekend of the trip, visiting Helen, wineries, water activities, and all the other things the area has to offer. There are many rental cabins close-by and we also held a block of hotel rooms in Helen which was convenient for our guests. If you are looking for a charming rustic location with wonderful amenities and breathtaking views, I highly recommend Mountain Laurel Farm for any wedding or social occasion!

So we made our way back to the main house, and got some clarity. Once we found our room, we were pretty impressed with how nice the room looked. If you want a secluded and quiet place -- you found the right location!! Unfortunately for us, the wifi went out on us the day we got there. So, there was no TV service, and no wifi for your phone. The standard 3G service was spotty. This left a bit uncomfortable feeling in case of emergencies. We ate at one of the lodges and felt the food wasn't really fresh. It just seemed .... old. Food seemed pricey for what you get and so we just kept it on the minimal side. I felt like not having the complete room experience diminished on our get away time and full experience. Good or bad, there were not many people here that weekend so there were not a lot of people to talk with and meet. We might try again in the near future. By no means was it a bad experience, some things are just out of your control.

Just complete the check-in paperwork online ahead of time as requested, give them your mobile number, and you'll be able to access your room and the historic building itself on your own with the codes they will text you. And with free parking, from the hotel you'll be able to walk everywhere in this beautiful, historic, university town in about 10 minutes or less - taking full advantage of its restaurants, shops, and gold museum. But oh, that paperwork!... It was really off-putting, with all these warnings about rules and penalties for breaking them (including fines and eviction for repeated noise complaints - although that's actually just fine with me). As the staff pointed out, though, everything prohibited has actually happened in the hotel. It turns out that Dahlonega is really two kinds of town - the sleepy town that I fell in love with, but sometime a party town! So if you're looking for the former, I recommend missing the mid-October Gold Rush festival, the Christmas festival, and (if you can find out) any destination-wedding dates.

Within minutes of checking in, the "faux" doorknob fell off. Leaving a hole in our door. My husband went to the hotel to tell them. The guy came straight over. After 1.5 hrs he suggested moving us to a room at the hotel, because he'd have to go to home depot to fix it. We agreed. I looked up the room difference. Rooms for king that night and next ran $119. We moved. And stayed. At checkout they offered me a $39 discount.??? Room difference was $39 a night? They said it was because they were booked and that's the rate? But they were not booked! And it was not my problem the door handle fell apart! They never attempted to fix anything, but the door handle that fell off... and I apparently paid for. Stir clear! Not a relaxing stay!

As the mother of the bride--and having hosted three weddings for our three daughters--I can honestly say this was the best experience we've had. From the very beginning, Kim made us feel so welcome and was always kind, responsive, and helpful with any questions we had. Ashley was absolutely outstanding--she handled all the booking details seamlessly, provided excellent vendor recommendations, and made sure every piece came together perfectly. As the wedding approached, Kadie from Invited Events stepped in to coordinate seating, planning, and execution, and she ensured the entire day went off flawlessly. The caterer, Yahoolah Creek, was amazing. The food was delicious, and we received so many compliments from our guests--it truly stood out. Every detail of the event was so thoughtfully planned, from the getaway car to the late-night snacks, the photo booth, and the beautiful fireworks send-off. What meant the most to me was how easy they made everything. All I had to do was show up and enjoy this special day with my daughter and our family. It was stress-free, seamless, and absolutely magical. I love this venue and cannot recommend it enough. Planning a wedding here truly can be a wonderful experience.
