Based on that information, I scheduled the appointment and drove across town to bring my vehicle in. When I arrived, the same woman then told me the diagnostic would actually cost over $200 because what I described was considered "two separate issues." I was extremely frustrated because I had already explained those exact issues to her over the phone. What bothered me even more was that once I questioned the price, she suddenly wanted to give me a full disclosure and explanation of how their diagnostic pricing works. That information should have been disclosed to me when I made the appointment, not after I drove across town and showed up expecting the $49.99 diagnostic fee I had been quoted. None of this was mentioned during our original phone conversation. I decided not to have the diagnostic done because Hyundai charges around $200, and for that price I would rather take my vehicle directly to the dealership. My issue isn't that a diagnostic can cost more depending on the problem. My issue is how the pricing was communicated to me. If I had been given the full disclosure over the phone and told that my particular concerns could result in multiple diagnostic charges totaling over $200, I could have made an informed decision before making the trip. But this experience? Absolutely not. If this is how they treat someone who is willing to pay for their services, it speaks volumes about their overall character. I've worked in customer service my entire life, and I firmly believe it's not always what you say -- it's how you say it. The gentleman who called to explain what was wrong with my vehicle was also polite and thorough. That said, the actual pricing and billing left a bad taste in my mouth. The quote I received was $6,000, which was substantially higher than the $3,000-$4,000 estimates I received from several other reputable shops. I'm all for paying for quality work, but that kind of difference made me feel like I was being price gouged. What really pushed me over the edge, though, was the diagnostic fee. I was told it would be $160, which I agreed to. When I went to pay, the bill was over $190. When I called to ask why, I was told they "had to put some oil in the car to diagnose it." To me, that feels scammy. If you're going to charge more than the stated diagnostic fee, that should absolutely be communicated and approved beforehand. Adding extra charges without authorization--especially after I declined their high repair quote--felt wrong and unprofessional. Because of that lack of transparency, I wouldn't return and I wouldn't recommend the shop. Friendly people, yes--but the pricing practices made me lose trust in their integrity. Their pricing, communication, and expertise are unmatched and twice these did something that the dealership said was impossible to do. Their estimates have been spot on. You know what something is actually going to cost. They can source European parts quickly and have the right computers make adjustments. They often have quick availability and service and there is a bar next door while you wait. Eurozone existing takes away a lot of the stress of owning a cute but finicky sporty car.
