I have never experienced anything like the condescending attitude and downright rude behavior of someone who is a manager of customer service. I would not recommend to anyone to purchase or service their equipment at this dealer. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a retailer! So readers will fully understand what happened here I think it would be good they read the whole story. I called Tyler Brothers to inquire about getting an initial service done to my Z724 mower. It needed the initial oil change, blades sharpened and a general inspection to make sure everything was in working order. I was told by the service person on the phone the charge for this service would be anywhere from $200.00-$400.00 but since my mower was in for its initial service it should not be more than $200.00. So I brought it in on Sat March 30 and was told it would be ready sometime the coming week. I received a phone call from Norm on Thur April 4th to go over the charges. The initial service was priced at $295.00, not $200.00 He also explained that there might be some ethanol residue in my gas and engine. He quoted an additional $200.00 to drain the tank and purge the engine or I could simply go buy a can of Sea Foam and put it in my tank to clean out any ethanol residue. I opted for the Sea Foam and he agreed this would be a more cost effective way to go. I was a bit confused on the increase from $200.00 to $295.00 for the initial service but did not say anything at the time. Norm also told me the mower would be ready the following day Friday April 5. The call was on speaker phone and my wife clearly heard him say the next day Friday April 5. Up until this point everything was just fine and I really did not have any issues with Tyler Brothers. The increase in price was not a big deal and I agreed to pay it. So I drove all the way from West Knoxville Sat morning April 6 to pick up the mower that was supposed to be ready the previous day. The mower had now been there a week. I was told by Norm in Service the mower was not ready. The parts were ordered and received but no work was done on the mower yet. I explained to Norm that he told me it was going to be ready the day before when he called me on Thursday April 4. Norm became very combative and told me they never provide a delivery date to a customer until the service is completed. Same thing that was stated in an earlier part of this thread by Tyler Brothers. I asked how soon the mower would be ready and Norm told me they would put a priority on it and get it done Monday. I explained to Norm I was having a major surgery on Wed April 10 and would not be able to cut the grass for a month during recovery (prostrate cancer). I told Norm I really needed to get the mower no later than Monday and his response was he would do his best. I then asked why the cost for the service went from under $200.00 to $295.00. Considering the service had not been completed when promised I thought this was a fair question to ask. Again, Norm in a very combative tone told me I had authorized the $295.00 cost on the phone on April 4th. Since he did not answer my question as to why the cost increase and instead became more combative I decided to take my business elsewhere. I asked Norm to let me take my mower and leave so I could go and get it serviced elsewhere. Norm then in a very smug tone told me"OK that will be $125.00.!! I asked why and he said it was a "diagnostic fee". At this point I was pretty frustrated. I asked Norm if I could speak to the person in charge and again he smugly said "he was in charge" I walked out the service door and said to Norm "You guys suck!" Probably not the best choice of words but I really did not appreciate Norms' attitude and his mishandling of the situation. I was going to leave and then thought I should at least speak to someone else at the facility. I went into the showroom and walked up to the parts counter. A nice man asked if he could help me and I asked if the owner was there. He said the owner was not there. I then asked if we could get him on the phone. He asked if there was a problem and I said yes and pointed to the service area and I have a problem with "him" in service. The parts person then pointed me to a gentleman in the showroom who walked up to me and asked what the problem was. I explained to him my experience with Norm in Service. I did not raise my voice or make a "scene" but I am sure those around could see I was frustrated. The response out of the person in the showroom (a manager perhaps?) was to ask me if I had bought my mower from Tyler Brothers. I told him I had not and that I purchased it from Kubota of Knoxville.

I recently rented a mini excavator from Maryville Equipment Rental and unfortunately had a…read moredisappointing experience. I have rented from Maryville equipment rental for years and I've had very positive experiences with them as far as pricing and customer service goes but today they lost a customer. When I picked up the machine, it was clear it had seen better days, but I was assured it was still in working condition. Within ten minutes of use the track on the excavator split. While they did replace it, the second machine also had issues with the track -- all while operating under normal conditions. To my surprise, I later received a charge of $814 for track replacement. Despite being a loyal customer, they refused to waive or reduce the fee, even though the equipment's condition was questionable from the start. while their terms and conditions that they make their customer sign in order to rent out equipment does state that the person leasing or renting the equipment is held liable for track damage or tire replacement, I feel as if the objective truth is that they are renting out equipment that is not suitable for normal working conditions and they are banking on their customer to "Damage the unit" And then charge them to repair the machinery when a well maintained piece of machinery would have handled fine under normal operating conditions and especially when they could have performed routine maintenance on the equipment to prevent this from happening Should I have taken photos before pulling the equipment off the lot? Yes. Should I have asked to swap it out with a better maintained machine? Yes. A word of caution to anyone considering renting from them: Make sure you thoroughly inspect the equipment and take clear photos and videos before pulling it off the lot. In my case, it seems they're renting out machines that are too worn to be in circulation, and you may end up footing the bill for pre-existing issues. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be renting from them again.

An ice storm is coming, so I called around, but other small engine repair shops touch it. since the storm is to hit three days from now I needed service on short notice. Their rep told me to bring it in, and they would try to get it worked on ASAP. I took it in around 10:00 this morning, and they fixed it by 1:00 this afternoon! The price was good, but the service was next level. I'll definitely use them from now on, and refer anyone who needs small engine repairs. My generator is ready for the storm. Thanks again.

When pricing out a mower I found myself looking at a Toro 54" at Lowes. I like doing business with…read moresmall local businesses so I chose Dickens as the price was the same and they offered a winter warranty service. It was described as a service that looks over the mower and repairs or replaces any issues found under warranty . I received a text saying the winter service was almost over so i called and got on the schedule. The mower only had 13.1 hrs on it and I just changed the oil and filter at 13hrs. I shared that when it was picked up. Today I received a call that the service was done and it was $329. The manager said I misunderstood the text as this was for a "service" not the selling point "warranty service". After a heated discussion the manager said he'd take off the oil change so $250. After I shared I'd be informing others of their way of doing business he said you can come and get it (obviously return delivery was not available to me anymore). At the store the manage put the price back at $329. He said if you're gonna share how we do business then I'm not going to cut you a break. So I suppose my silence would have saved me $79. There are several options when looking to spend over $4k on a mower. Don't get caught up in the fancy "double speak". At the end of the day their just another business taking advantage of the customer .
