I'd always been a little intimidated by group fitness classes full of women, but one day I just said "screw it!" and I attended my first (FREE!) class. I expected a tough, full-body workout, and I got it! But what I DIDN'T expect was such a warm, welcoming, judgement-free, and encouraging group of women. The owners, Nikki and Christina, will know your name the second you walk in the door and can always be found chatting with clients. I can talk all about the physical results I've experienced from barre classes (because they're there!), but it's so much more than that. It's a lifestyle studio. More importantly, I've gained confidence, I've found a workout that I look forward to doing, and I've gained some amazing friends. And, yeah, the first class is always free :)

I have not been this sore in ages, and I didn't know muscle groups could hurt like this. The workout itself would garner at least 4 stars, but the friendly environment gives this place the 5th. Everyone was so kind and did not make me feel bad for needing to take a break from time to time. I'm excited to try it out again!

I had been a client there for 5 years when it was Barre District. Around July of 2022 a new owner took over, classes were being canceled, allot of the instructors were leaving and the name eventually changed to Barre collective MKE. On 8/13/2022 I asked an instructor to guide me on how to cancel my monthly membership because I was unable to do it through the app. She reached out to the new owner to ask her how to cancel, the owner text back that she would take care of canceling my monthly membership and asked if there was a reason, I said I wanted to buy class packs, so I wouldn't be charged $110/ month until they could get the schedule figured out. The only thing that was explained to me was that there was a 30 day notice, so my membership would officially expire 9/13/2022, this was fine. Then in 9/2022 I bought a 5 pack class pack so I could check out the new studio/ classes & instructors. Again the classes were being cancelled and the new class times were not working for my schedule. Fast forward to December 2022, I was looking at my bank account and noticed I was still being charged the monthly fee of $110. I know I should've been looking a my account closer, but I trusted her word and didn't think she would take advantage of me. I then contacted the her asking for a refund or class credits so I could go to the new place. She said no, she said she had no recollection of this conversation and asked how I didn't notice $110/ month was being taken form my account. I reached out to the instructor who then provided me with proof of the text message between her and the owner this message states she would cancel my monthly membership. (see attached) She still will not refund me. I reached out to the BBB, they contacted her with my concerns and after multiple messages she offered to reimburse me for 1 month, she owes me for 4 months, $440.00 Do not waste your time with this studio, there are other great studios in the area that treat there clients with respect.

For a variety of reasons, I would not recommend getting any sort of membership through this studio…read more I had purchased a year membership on a Black Friday promotion when it was still Barre District and the week after, it came under ownership of Amanda (Shame on the owners for running such promotion, knowing it was going to become Barre Collective the very next week). Because the loss of majority of the instructors, Amanda started instructing classes; although she had never gone through the proper training (which is VERY evident, might I add). I powered through even with the loss of my favorite instructors and class times. I didn't think my membership experience could go any further south until Amanda decided to move to South Milwaukee, making it impossible for me to make the limited classes they had available. When I reached out to hopefully get my membership refunded, she was unprofessional and un-empathetic to the fact that I could not make this new location work and said she would only refund me a partial refund of $250. Amanda owes me $700. I would advise against going to this studio, for she may take advantage of you like she has so many other people. I am severely disappointed in the experience I have had at this studio and will NEVER recommend anyone to spend their time or money there.

For me, that has meant gaining bodily awareness of my form in such a way that I feel translates into the other forms of activity I do (using my core more when I cycle, tucking my hips with I weightlift). I feel so much appreciation for Jamie's practice, her candidness, and the space she has crafted. Whether you're new or a seasoned pilates practitioner, I think Flying Squirrel has something for everyone. I have done the reformer, Pilates class, mat/springboard, and chair/jump. I've enjoyed them all, and each one challenges me differently. I leave feeling stronger, refreshed, and am certain that I'm going to keep coming back!
