Fried Fish, Eguisi and Fufu

Food is amazing!!! I was recommended to this restaurant by a coworker, and I have been going there ever since as an American that is the best African food I have eaten I love the eguai and the spicy okra

Food was amazing and the owner has hospitality. Food was brought to the table timely and with a smile.

Treated me and my princess to African food lastnight...the showstopper was the fufu of course. It went so perfect with the fufu you can tell the meat was cleaned and seasoned perfectly to perfection. The soup broth was yum. The jollof rice, stewed meat and the herring spinach crazy, spicy beautiful mixture. Blessing helped me and since she shared her name I knew the food would be blessed. She guaranteed you will be back lol, a little pricey but it's nice to treat yourself sometimes We enjoyed and had leftovers for a few days. The ambiance of the restaurant is calm, family homey vibes but as for me I was into going back to my abode and enjoying the food.

The food here was great ,my wife introduced me to this restaurant. We really enjoyed the jolif rice, with goat meat & egusi stew .The staff there was really nice. The head lady there that packs your food up ,she gives you really nice size portions of food. This has to be the best African Nigerian restaurant in the jamaica queens area.

This is probably one of the best Nigerian spots in Queens. Their food is fresh and they always get my order right. My husband and I order from this place regularly. The staff is very very friendly and that's another reason why I keep coming back here. A lot of African restaurants have nasty staff but not Africana. They are very nice and very helpful. I'm not Nigerian but I like their food and I sometimes need help with their menu or ordering/describing the food that I want. My go to here is the Edikaikong! OMG! I love this meal. Maybe because I like the mix of meat and spinach. I don't know but i really enjoy this dish. They do it really well. It comes with plantain and jollof rice. My husband always orders their mixed meat. He enjoys it and their portions are pretty generous. I usually get dodo and jollof rice which is also really good. I seriously have no complaints about this place. Their food is delicious. Overall, Africana is great place to get some Nigerian food in Queens. I wouldn't eat there because its usually really hot in there. They do have seating in there so you can eat in there but if you're picky like me, you'll pack it up and take it home.

I always leave here in a happy food coma. Authentic real Nigerian cuisine. Only the best.

This food is delicious. It's freshly made to order and takes several minutes before it comes out. The dining chicken tasted like BBQ chicken off the grill. It had a nice char and a slight spice to it. The jillif rice was spicy and had a tomato flavor. The sautéed onions on it were salty, spicy, crunchy while giving off a nice juice. Then the raw onions were peppery and tangy. The whole meal was delicious. The strawberry lemonade was refreshing and sweet. It had a creamy feel to it. Very enjoyable. Oh... the chicken empanada....DELICIOUS. get it. Will be returning here. Mera's Tip: jollof

Theirs is a little dry and not as smokey as I'd like, but they do add a side of some type of tomato and onions near it so I mix it in and it does add a little more to it so thats a 4/5. Ive also had their fatal and it was good too. I see that they recently added fufu to their menu but its too expensive in comparison to the other places I've had. I wish they had egusi on their menu, but it'll probably be very expensive as most things are at this restaurant.

Cuisine: 9 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 4 Value: 9 Overall: 9 I am not an expert in West African cuisine, but all I can say about the food here is, "Holy shit! It's good!" The setup inside this dimly lit restaurant had a bunch of steam tables offering various beef and chicken dishes, a handful of rice options, and a bunch of salads/fruits. Having no idea what we were looking at, we asked the friendly owner for some advice. After some contemplation, two of us made a plate with all beef over some jollof rice, and another with basically all chicken items over a different type of flavorful rice. We knew it was too much, but our goal was to figure out what we would come back for. Honestly, I did not enjoy most of the chicken because it's sitting in steam trays getting overcooked. Not saying they were terrible, but it all fails in comparison to all the great beef offerings. OMG! You really can't go wrong with any of the beef dishes. My cuisine rating is really based on the various beef items, the yummy veggies, and both amazing rice. The current price is $10.99 per pound regardless what you fill your box with, except a couple of items. We filled our two boxes with about 4lbs of food. Obviously too much, but we got to try many things. No doubt I will be back asap for round two.

I ordered UberEats from them before and was blown away by the tremendous offerings and generous portions. I decided to dine in and it was even better! The restaurant is located on the busy Northern Blvd between Morgan and Glenwood. The inside has a 19th century French ambiance, decorated with French posters, carpeted floors and a cozy warm dining area. Don't worry about the never ending traffic noise, commotion , and construction coming from outside. The calm and peaceful ambiance along with the music playing in the restaurant canceled out all the exterior noise. I opted in for their lunch buffet, which offered a ton of food for an amazing $18.95 deal which you can hardly find in this day and age. The restaurant gave a nice basket of warm bread with a generous amount of butter in a ramekin followed by a really good Tunisian salad with a little bit of everything. (fresh greens, cooked carrots, chickpea salad, diced cucumbers peppers and their take on the Ratatouille-- really good) I was given the option of getting their daily soup or the French Onion Soup with an up charge. I took the French option soup without any hesitation. Last time I had a good French onion soup was back when I attended college in upstate. Glad I got to try the one from here. The onion soup has an abundance of flavor with a generous amount of melted cheese and onions. The buffet selections were at the table. It came with two entrees (a chicken and a beef) cooked vegetables, mussels, mixed rice, cheese selection and slices bread cake. The entrees vary each day so be sure to call in and check. The chicken was moist, and juicy, served with a mushroom gravy. Similar to a Chicken Marsala dish. The stewed beef with mushrooms was nice and soft. The veggies included carrots and onions. The mussels were cooked to perfection, simmered in a nice buttery sauce. The meal also includes a cup of coffee or tea. What a great way to finish the meal. Marie was super nice and friendly. She gave me some insights on the food and the different menus they have on different days. A great establishment going strong for 47 years! Thank you Marie for everything. I will definitely be returning with my family.

The staff were very friendly throughout our evening and the staff even offered more free bread which my husband loved. And it was good - fresh and warm. We also took advantage of getting one of their $30 bottles of wine and it was quite good. The majority of their wine list is French wine, which is great, because they definitely isn't always the case with French restaurants. The French onion soup was quite good. So was the filet au poive. The raspberry tart was nothing special, just dough and raspberry jam, I wouldn't order it again. Everything else was great though and I'd definitely come here again!

Three of us came out on a Sunday night for an 8:30 reservation just because we were in town and did not want to leave the city without trying it. It was not full when we got there but it did start getting busier. And maybe they were short staffed, I don't know but everything took forever: Getting a table (with a reservation), water, putting in our order, the food coming out, getting the check -- all of it dragged. we ordered the Jerk lamb chops, oxtail, white rice and Haitian rice, plantains, and cassava bread. We really enjoyed the Haitian rice and plantains. The lamb chops were cold, the oxtails were overcooked and basically swimming in what tasted like BBQ sauce. And we never got the bread we ordered. I cannot believe we spent $160 for that experience. The first bill they brought belonged to another table, had to wait on the correct one. Then when they brought the correct one, it included the bread that our table never received so we had to wait again for that to be removed. Of course our waiter seemed rushed all night and was inattentive to matters like that. I really wanted to like this place. I saw the clips on social media, and I wanted to support a black owned establishment. But none of it translated to an actual good experience. If anything, the hype makes the disappointment worse. Trust the google and yelp reviews, I should have read those first!

This place is definitely a hole in the wall, resembling more of a closet on the side of a building than an actual eatery. It's cash only, be prepared, and also you might have to ring the doorbell since the guy isn't always there attentive waiting at the door. Prices were fair for what they were offering.
