This was my first experience with Nigerian food. I had a soup with fu fu. Service was very good. Staff double-checked if I was ok with the mixed meat as it consisted of beef hoof, and tripe with beef chunks. The food was delicious. I ate the soup with the fu fu with my hands. Treated me and my princess to African food lastnight...the showstopper was the fufu of course. It went so perfect with the fufu you can tell the meat was cleaned and seasoned perfectly to perfection. Nigerian food was delicious. For first timers: go with the tomato based sauce. My ego first thought the on-menu "Baku sauce" was within my spice tolerance. A very insightful Ema gently offered samples of both. I sheepishly deferred to her recommended tomato. But pro tip: get a little of the Baku sauce as it's a wonderful spice addition to a v flavorful dish. Another tip: don't leave without a puff puff, which describing as a fried ball of dough would be an insult to this seemingly pedestrian, but subtly nuanced, delicacy. Vanilla, nutmeg, and just the right about of sweet, as Ema was kind enough to decode what made it so much more than simply a dough ball. This is probably one of the best Nigerian spots in Queens. Their food is fresh and they always get my order right. My husband and I order from this place regularly. The staff is very very friendly and that's another reason why I keep coming back here. A lot of African restaurants have nasty staff but not Africana. They are very nice and very helpful. I'm not Nigerian but I like their food and I sometimes need help with their menu or ordering/describing the food that I want. My go to here is the Edikaikong! OMG! I love this meal. Maybe because I like the mix of meat and spinach. I don't know but i really enjoy this dish. They do it really well. It comes with plantain and jollof rice. My husband always orders their mixed meat. He enjoys it and their portions are pretty generous. I usually get dodo and jollof rice which is also really good. I seriously have no complaints about this place. Their food is delicious. Overall, Africana is great place to get some Nigerian food in Queens. I wouldn't eat there because its usually really hot in there. Uber takeout $60 had suya, meat pie( they substituted with fish pie without notification), acara, moi moi, one order edikakong mixed meat soup with yam . Everything was very good ,fresh and not crazy spicy for Nigerian. Perfect spice level for me. My biggest complaints was small portion for price , not enough soup sauce for my fufu and subbed meat pie with fish pie. My sister has fish allergy and I got meat pie for her. Lucky she only had small piece but that is DANGEROUS!The acara was a joke - 1 size of 1/2 pinky for $2. And very stingy on fufu amount-size for a child. I thought since I was getting 2 fufu -soup would be worth price of $30 in size and enough for 2 people. It seems like you can get cheaper lunch prices in the store so if I tried again would be to takeout and see if value is better . But for takeout the price and portions are really outrageous . Granted this is my first Queens african restaurant. I have eaten usually in Manhattan and Brooklyn with much more reasonable price and quantities. read more

Best African food you can get delivered near Central Queens/South Queens. This place serves Nigerian cuisine. The food is tasty, and orders are delivered correct and on-time. I really like this place and am glad its in the neighborhood. However, I am totally disappointed that there are not more choices for African Cuisine in Central and South Queens, like what's really going on?! We enjoy experiencing new culinary experiences quite often - we are not new at this. This time we picked Africana because it was recommended by Anthony Bourdain. With an adventurous spirit we walked into Africana. From the moment we walked in we were treated like outsiders. The place was filthy. It took 20 minutes for the waitress to finally come over. No menu. No Water. No smile. Just "What will it be" We got an eye roll when we asked for a menu. She spoke so low and with such a thick accent - we were clearly having trouble understanding her. We just yessed her a few times and hoped for the best. The food was deplorable. Expect goat meat cooked very poorly. The only cool thing about the whole experience was when we ate the appetizer with our hands. We felt let down. This was a complete waste of our time. Leave this jewel alone. read more

Although I absolutely love African cuisine this place is THE worst in terms of customer service. The food is good but they fail horribly in the hospitality area. My advise is to treat EVERY customer with respect and be open to constructive criticism. If I point out that a price needed to be updated on YOUR menu to reflect what your charging me, FIX IT!
