I had an extremely unprofessional and frustrating experience with China. She rescheduled my…read moreoriginal 2/15 appointment at 7 PM to Monday, 2/17, even though her booking site showed Sunday availability and Monday as unavailable. Communication was terrible--I had to wait hours for a response or double text just to get confirmation. After confirming my 2/17 appointment at 12:30 PM, she suddenly canceled, claiming she assumed I was a male client (despite no policy stating she doesn't service men). When I clarified that I'm female, I had to rebook manually, but her site wouldn't allow it. She told me to just come and pay in full. On the day of my appointment (2/17), I reached out at 10:30 AM to confirm, and she responded only 20 minutes before our scheduled time saying she'd be late. My service was a simple loc retwist and style, but she said she couldn't do the style I requested. After three hours in her chair, my hair didn't even look freshly retwisted, and worse--she started combining my locs without my permission. I have 200 locs, and she took it upon herself to combine them without asking, saying she does this for clients with a lot of locs. On top of everything, she is a scammer. When she originally canceled my appointment, she said she refunded my deposit. While I understand refunds take a few days to process, I later discovered I was charged twice for the deposit, in addition to paying her in full with cash. This was a complete waste of time and money. China is unprofessional, has poor communication, and provides terrible service. Do not book with her!!!!!!!!!! Message to China since you blocked me Text message don't lie love and neither does bank statements why did you charge me again for a deposit I paid you in full in cash. if you had any common decency you would refund 40% of what I paid actually but no, why would I ever let you back in my hair ??? I have photos of what my hair looked like after I left. I was polite the entire time if your feelings are hurt because I'm not sugar coating anything maybe do better. Your communication skills are lacking terrible for someone in the service industry. And to be honest with you, the work that you did in my hair was so trash, but I was like you know what it's fine. I'll fix it myself. It wasn't until I started fixing it myself, I found that you had combined my locs that's why I became frustrated, that's incredibly unprofessional. You are not a Loctician unless a Loctician recommends you combine your locs for the integrity of the loc itself you don't just go around combining people's locs "because they have a lot".

In regards to M R. -- As the stylist she is referring to, I…read morewould like to clear up any confusion she may have had. She was referred to me by a family member. Her appointment time was 1:00 and yes, I was 15 minutes behind. Anyone whom has ever visited a hair salon knows that you can't always judge exactly to the minute how long someone's hair will take, which is exactly what happened prior to her appointment time. A color that took longer than expected. During our consultation, she asked me what I thought of her previous color, whether she should do something different or just keep it the same and touch up her roots. Her color was dark, shiny, and matched her complexion nicely, so my professional opinion was for her to keep what she had and touch up her roots. Not because I was behind, and not because I was rushing her, as she stated she felt. We both agreed and I mixed and applied her color. I always stack my colors (apply one color and while they process, apply another. Finish out the first one while the second one processes, then finish out the second) because otherwise, my clients would be on a waitlist of about two months. Time management. Then, the stylist that she was "passed off to" was my apprentice. It was my apprentice's job to shampoo and style her. That's how she learned and received her certification hours. She was not put off on anyone due to lack of time. As for the statement of regulars being treated great and new clients being treated like dirt-- I tried to carry on conversation and only received short, one word responses. When a client, new or returning, acts as if they do not want to conversate, I give them their space (some women come in the salon to relax) and I engage in conversation with other people around me. I'm a chatty Kathy, and if you've ever been in my chair or any other stylists chair in the salon, you know that. As for her experience with my apprentice, we were working on her people skills, because she was very timid in engaging in conversation with clients. It was all a part of the learning process. This review has haunted me for two years and being that I do not own the salon, I could not respond when it was first written. So when I revisited Yelp tonight, I decided to just respond via my own "review" to clear up any issues she may have had. Because instead of contacting me directly to let me know she did not enjoy her experience, she created her own assumptions and went to the internet to poison any potential clients.
