I live in Italy so I was concerned about finding a salon for hair and makeup in Alabama. I called the salon and booked an appointment for my stepdaughter's wedding explaining what I wanted. I called the evening before the appointment to confirm and hoped for the best. I arrived at 9 am the morning of the wedding, and let's just say jet lag and other issues meant that both Emily and Emily had their work cut out. In less than 3 hours they worked their magic and turned my hot messy self into a presentable Step-MOB. These two professionals are my #AlabamaAngels ! I came in with platinum hair (and easy base to work with) & asked for the bottom right picture (see in images). They messed it up... And then Grace began to state, "I'm glad I didn't use the color brown in the picture you wouldn't have liked it." Are you kidding me? I asked for the colors in the picture... How is she going to just change the color I asked for? I went back in the next day (because it was still blonde and had stripes all over the top of my head) and it ended up worse.. To top it off they stated, " I mean you can blow dry your own hair if you want" and made me blow dry my own hair. So mad.. Will never come in again. Tiger stripes and blotches all over my head. In addition, they are not gentle on your hair (i.e. put a detangler or oil in) they rip through your hair and break all your ends off... The only reason why I gave a 1 is because it wouldn't let me submit with a zero and they only made me pay for product the second day (color "correction"). Do not go here! read more

Love this salon and their staff. My stylist (as well as my husband's and son's) is Taylor. I love how she handles my super long and heavy hair. Even though we have done some hefty color changes my ends don't look fried. She's patient and listens. She has fixed some major barber shop blunders (committed by military barber shop) on my husband and son. They will not go elsewhere again. I have also had the pleasure to get my hair done by Jodie. Excellent work as well. Their shampoo is generally accompanied by a neck/shoulder massage, which is so nice. They may not be cheap, but they are worth every penny! read more

Very disappointed and over priced! I'm new to the area and was looking for a place to get my hair cut and colored before my birthday. I found amplify based on the review and decided to give it a try. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks in advance, I even waited an additional week to see the "color specialist" to give me some "advice" about my hair. The only "advice" I received was that she didn't have enough time to do what I wanted and blamed the girls behind the front desk for not asking enough questions on the phone. Being that she was the "specialist" I trusted her to do her best. Long story short the blonde turned out very ashy but that "should wash out" and the haircut was not like the picture I showed. Icing on the cake is that I spent 3 hours there and still was charged over $200 to not be able to give me what I came in for. Overall very disappointed and will not be back. read more

So I went to Amplify on a complete whim because I didn't want to drive all the way across town to Dougs anymore (just to get average service, mind you). I thought what a shame there wasn't a salon closer to Old Cloverdale/Cottage Hill to serve us! Why do we have to drive all the way to east Montgomery just to get overpriced, mediocre haircuts?! WELL!! I'm happy to announce that Amplify Salon has satisfied the itch, and their service blows the other Montgomery salons out of the water. Right after I discovered Amplify I had to move to Miami and tried a few salons down here and then I realized what a salon snob I'd turned into. Now I just make an appointment with Ashleigh whenever I know I'll be back home to visit the parents in Montgomery. She's an awesome colorist and always makes me look like and feel like a million bucks when I leave. EDIT: I forgot to mention...I'm not sure who the girl is that washes the hair, but she is THE BEST hair washer I've ever had. read more

The first ten minutes there were a total five star experience - beautiful space, friendly desk personnel, and Victoria, my stylist, gave me a tour, sat down for a consultation, then gave me a brief scalp/neck massage before the shampoo. The two stars is because she then chopped off several inches more than I asked. I told her I wanted to keep my length - only about an inch off the bottom, but wanted to have layers. She asked me where the layers should begin and I said "the shoulders" because I didn't want to have hair shorter than there. She proceeded to start chopping at the shoulders and then worked her way down from there with layers. By the time she got to the bottom, she was chopping 3-4 inches off. It's a pretty haircut, but I lost so much hair that I left the salon in tears. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I'm getting married in three months and it will be impossible for me to grow anywhere near that much hair back before then. So you'll get a nice haircut but it might not be the one you ask for. read more

Lovely, spa-like atmosphere. Pleasant aroma through out the entire salon. The salon presented clean and fresh. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. This was my first visit and I had read good reviews on Sarrita. She lived up to her good reputation. She was friendly and took the time to hear the requests on my hard-to-manage hair. I had the best hair-wash experience EVER and my hair cut/style was exactly what I asked for. We absolutely love this salon & the staff is incredible! It is very clean and professional. Tannar has been doing hair for my family a little over a year & always exceeds our expectations! I am very particular when it comes to my husband & sons hair. My husband has quite the receding hairline & finicky curly hair. My son has very thick, straight hair. She remembers how to cut it and always does an excellent job! Tannar also does hair & makeup for events! She did my wedding hair & makeup, along with 4 other ladies in my wedding party. I came to this salon with fried, over-processed hair with a strip of hair had broken off almost to my scalp. I saw Taylor Carver and she miraculously saved the day! Taylor did a botanical conditioning treatment as well as coloring and cutting my hair. Amazingly she camouflaged the bare spot on my scalp and made my hair look the best it's ever been! I get compliments from everyone on my hair since seeing Taylor. She transformed my dry, brittle, broken, pitiful hair into a gorgeous color that is my favorite that I've ever had! The staff is so courteous, helpful and pleasant. The salon has shampoo bowls that lift to fit your head so you're not leaning backward. I had a massage by Jonathon and blow out by Grace. Incredible performances by both! I live in CO, land of alternative healing and have had many massages. Had bad upper back and shoulder issues going on that Jonathan got after in an incredible way. Only a bit sore the next day, the day after that, I was recovered, back was great. That usually never happens... Grace coaxed my unruly curly mane into amazing polished straightness. No harsh tugging, --again that usually never happens when I get a blow out. Brooke is an amazing stylist, and Emily does great waxing and facials. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the fact they don't do the pure privilege points and I personally find the facial and massage rooms way too bright. I loved my experience at Amplify - Sarrita did a great job with my "lob" (long bob) and balayage highlights. I was worried about finding a salon in Montgomery as I recently moved here, but I seem to have hit the nail on the head with Amplify. The receptionists aren't as warm as they should be.. I went there for the first time to get a trim and rid my split ends but noticed there were still some left .The hair wash wasn't satisfactory as it felt like the conditioner wasn't washed off well. I'd asked for a color consult but they forgot to give me one and after paying the bill and reminding they weren't ready to call the stylist back to get me one. All in all the cut is just average like any small place can give you and totally not worth the price we pay and I'm saying this after getting a senior stylist. I booked a color appointment here based on other reviews. After booking online, I had a question about what colors they carried at the salon, so I emailed them. 1 week went by, no response. The day before my appointment, a girl called to remind me, and I asked her my question. She was rude about it and then hung up without saying bye or thank you or anything. I almost wanted to cancel, but didn't. After I arrived, the girl I was scheduled with talked to me about what I wanted. She then said she didn't have enough time to do what I wanted. She found another girl who (supposedly) had time. She spent several hours placing highlights in my extra long, extra thick hair. Fast forward a few hours and she is trimming my ends. Her next appointment comes in, and then leaves. She is now brushing and blow drying my hair. All done now, and she says she doesn't love it. Would I come back ASAP and let her fix it up for no charge? Ok, well I guess because I want it to look good for my wedding reception. I booked an appointment for 3 days later for her to fix it. I was there from 12:25 - 5:15 that day. The Christian music I endured all day was excruciating. My second appointment went much better. The colors were way brighter and placed better. The shampoo guy Jonathan was amazing. I had a horrible pregnancy headache, and he got some essential oils and massaged my head in certain places and it literally went away 90%. One of these stars is JUST for him. My hair looks pretty sweet now though I haven't decided if I shall return or not. read more

I was really impressed with the salon when I walked in: it's clean, asthetically pleasing, and the people were very friendly. I am visiting from out of town and specifically selected Amplify because it is an Aveda salon. However, my haircut was a little disappointing. I have relatively long hair, and just needed a trim and some long layers. The girl who cut my hair seemed timid and unsure of herself, and although she did give me some nice layers, my right side is slightly longer than my left side. I feel that she didn't really check her work. Also, she accidentally cut a piece of my bangs shorter than the rest (my bangs are just longer layers that frame my face). At first I let it go because I thought that it was just some baby hairs that I've been growing out for a long time, but when I got home, I realized that the chunk she cut from my bangs is in a completely different place. What a bummer it'll be to grow that out again. Finally, the blowout that she gave me left my hair flat on my head, and showed-off the cowlick left by the arbitraritly-cut bangs. I put my hair in a pony tail after I left. The blowout should be the best part! It's the final experience that should leave a girl feeling like a million bucks! read more
