The dentist took quality time with me to understand my medical history and my needs. He explained several options, pros & cons, of course giving me the choice but what really amazed me is the way he explained things to me, the care I actually felt for what he is doing and I am able to make an educated decision asto what I'd like to proceed with. I have been to enough doctors visits to know that having a staff like that means only one thing. They like who they work for and will go out of their way to do things as professionally and confidently as they can. They really like where they work and they really like who they work for. This is not your average dental office. I can't think of any doctor's office I have been to that even comes close to the natural, pleasant feeling of Dr Otero's office. From reception, to the technician I interacted with, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also appreciated that I was seen close to the scheduled time and never felt rushed. Once the technician brought me back, I went through a quick X-ray and was led into the exam room. The room was clean, organized and comfortable. Again, within minutes, the dental hygienist arrived and started her routine. I'm very particular about following up with dental care and exams. I floss and brush frequently, and take pride in my teeth. Nevertheless, this dental hygienist took her time, and was extremely detailed in checking the health of my teeth, and even better, she was meticulous with a very detailed cleaning! I can say that in all my years, she is most definitely the best Dental Hygienist I've ever had! Great job! Next, I was welcomed to the practice by a super down to earth and friendly dentist: Dr. Panchal. We went over any concerns and and oral history, and, of course, he studied all of the X-rays taken. He proceed with the oral exam. Dr. Panchal patiently explained his findings and discussed his recommendation, treatment plan, and timeline. I'm pleased to say that my first visit was above average! From professionalism, welcoming and very clean environment, detailed staff, everything was perfect! Dr. Panchal has a great personality and I can see how he sets a wonderful standard which staff fallows. His wit, and lack of pretense were great, and even better: his knowledge, his ability to put the patient at ease, and his communication skills were wonderful! The second visit had to be rescheduled and I specifically asked what my insurance would cover. We were willing to wait two months if needed for the insurance to renew and to cover more for the procedure. I was assured that it was preauthorized and given the amount I was responsible for at the time of the visit..which was paid in full. I received a bill two months later that I still owed almost $1200. It took a couple of months to arrange making payments, in the interim I was told they would not see my child as a patient for even his routine cleaning that is 100% covered by insurance until I paid the bill in full. Ok fine. I'll find another dentist. Then Carrie from the St. Paul's office called me today and lets me know that even though I've started making payments, I would be turned over to a collection agency in 4 months if the remainder is not paid. Shame on me for not doing my due diligence and checking with my insurance company instead of just taking their word. But also I don't want to do business anyway with a profession that specializes in the care of folks that's more concerned with a buck. I understand businesses don't run for free..but given the amount of money I have personally come out of pocket with in two visits, looks like they'd entrust their patients a little more. So no, I would not recommend. Patient care obviously takes second place.

Dr. Jesse Hall numbed me several times, but when he pulled on my tooth I told him, "I can still feel that." Instead of stopping to make sure I was numb or adjusting his technique, he said out loud: "She's anxious, I'm not doing this -- send her to an oral surgeon." He had already pulled on my tooth, leaving me bleeding, swollen, and in pain with the tooth still intact. Then I was simply handed antibiotics and a referral and sent out the door. There was zero bedside manner, no compassion, and absolutely no professionalism. I left traumatized, humiliated, and still suffering. Patients deserve to be taken seriously when they say they are in pain -- not dismissed and abandoned mid-procedure. I will be reporting Dr. Hall and this clinic to the NC Dental Board and Medicaid. If you care about being heard, respected, and treated with basic decency -- do NOT go here.
