I have had two experience in the past with this catering company. First one was back in 2019, they were hire by my apartment complex to prepare a Mother's Brunch for residents and their mother's. Second one was for my wedding. I decided to go with them expecting the same experience but this was not the case at the end. My husband, fiancé at the time, and I went to the testing, Jennifer took care of us and we expressed our menu was going to be pork-free and it was reflected in our options, chicken and steak. About a month before the wedding they changed the contact person as Jennifer left the company. This cause a great deal of stress in me due to the fact that when I spoke with Maria she seemed that she did not have a clue if what I was talking about, regarding all the menu and specifics, I had already discuss with Jennifer and changed completely the quote adding a good $800 extra to quote. Come wedding day, first, I had nice matching silverware and the team decided to put the metal silverware next to the silver wear. Here the common sense was not used. This clashed with the decor. I remember mentioning to put the silverware next to the food so if people wanted to use those instead of the ones in the table they had the choice. Secondly, the caesar salad had bacon on it and it was pre-made. Once again, I was very explicit about not wanting pork in the menu. Half of my family ended not been able to eat the salad and I found this so annoying as I paid almost $2,400 for the services. Third, the head server approach me at some point of the wedding to ask me about the services and I told her how I was feeling and told her 'not great'. To this day NOBODY from this company has reached out to me for feedback. Needless to say they won't have my business nor recommendation in the future. Just wanting to give a major kudos to Affordable Catering for a phenomenal job they did in catering our rehearsal dinner. They catered our son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner 1 week after Hurricane Ian. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Their staff members, Ice (lead server) and Dunia (2nd server) were absolutely awesome! They showed up on time coming to Venice, Fl from Tampa during very heavy "Ian" recovery traffic. Not only did they impress us with arriving with ample time to set up before guests arrived, they were very personable, happy, enjoyable and extremely efficient in serving and clean up. The food by Affordable Catering was absolutely amazing. The 62+ guests we had were thrilled with the food and service. Everything tasted so delicious, in particular, the Maui Chicken was a HUGE success. We received nothing but raves about the food. We used Affordable Catering for our wedding over this past weekend and I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the guests! The staff was friendly, efficient, and responsible. Everything was easy to book, they had plenty of menus to choose from, and were happy to answer my multitude of questions. Specifically, I want to give credit to Tera and Carl. Tera was professional and focused the entire night. She handled all minor mishaps calmly and with a smile. She kept our ceremony on pace and was a needed support. Carl ended up being the talk of the entire wedding party as we reminisced on the night! From the moment he arrived he was a constant positive and warm presence. He worked hard the whole night and made sure he was readily available to help with whatever we needed. He handled all the heavy lifting in the breakdown with smiles and laughs (which were plenty welcome seeing as the South Florida Museum staff were grumpy jerks)! Very disappointed with affordable catering. I was in talks with their office staff for months prior to my wedding. First, it was super hard to get a hold of her and when I did, everything was rushed. Then the day of the wedding came. The portions of the food were scandalous. My guests were left extremely disappointed. When it came time to the cake, they served the cake to some of the tables and some they did not. When confronted staff about it, the lady told me: you only have us contracted until 9 and it's 9:10. Very unsatisfactory ran out of chicken they took the top of wedding cake and didn't give it to us. Ran out of tea we paid for 100 guess 88 showed up so how did we run out of chicken? One if guess had similar experience and she said she would never use them again. Sure wished I had known that . They charge too much for us to run out of food I know we was ripped off 5,000 very excessive my daughters wedding could have been better if we had not ran out of chicken and others complained that the chicken they ate was dry. Please shop around. Don't be overcharged like I was for mediocre food. I would have done better to get my aunts and friends to cook and it would have been season properly and never would have ran out. I would never recommend my friends to use their service!!! I contracted with this company for an event since I was just arriving back in town late the night before. I ordered the brunch with a mimosa bar. The impressive points: They showed up in advance, had everything set up on time, made an area for my cakes to display, had a floral arrangement and linens to match the occasion and had professional attire. They also packed food for my guests to take home with them. The mimosa bar seemed very controlled. ($248.75 + $11.75 for glasses + $85 / bartender + $75 her gratuity. Total = $420.50). It wasn't set up as a mimosa bar display, but set up out of buckets of ice that the bartender would serve. (I do understand they have to keep it cold, so the buckets were fine, but why not make the "mimosa bar" available to the guests?) When I asked the bartender what else there was to drink, she said juice. All of our guests went without drinks except for the mimosas. We didn't know there was ice tea, though we saw a coffee carafe at the other side of the bar, but it was too hot out for coffee. We didn't know what type of juices or drinks available. At one point the bartender grabbed a soda from my fridge to give to my guests. I don't mind except that she certainly didn't offer any other drinks to anyone. And there wasn't a single sign display showing our guests their options. As for the food - since this is a food business.... Everything seemed to be pork and very cold. The food that should have been cold was not on ice and the food that should have been hot was not even warm. There were 4 people in my party that absolutely did not eat pork. Some for religious reasons, others for dislike. The quiche had sausage, there was a bacon and canadian bacon platter, a spiral ham and a large pasta dish with what seemed like bacon. (maybe pastrami). Aside from pork, they had hardly anything to choose from. ...wouldn't a brunch include some type of waffle or pancake or another type of meat or egg? The only dished that seemed to be made by Affordable catering were the pasta dish and fruit salad. Everything else seemed like something from packages purchased at a supermarket. The canadian bacon, I have some in my fridge in a package. The croissants, bagels & danishes were the cheapest kind you can find in any bakery. The craziest part of all was that we ordered the mimosa bar for 25 people and only had about 10 - 12 people drinking the mimosas. How could they run out of champagne 3 hours into the event? My husband asked for a mimosa and the bartender told him he needs to get a bottle of champagne from our own bar. ???? As for the service, I had a bartender and a server. $150 for them and an additional $150 for their gratuity for a 4 hour event. They seemed very uninterested and almost sleepy. At one point I found the server by my back gate texting on her cell phone. They did do a good job of picking up after guests. The company has not called to ask me how the service or our experience was. I'm not saying I won't try them again with a different menu, but they would have to guarantee improvements in the concerned topics. read more

When the bartender I hired from a different company didn't show up for the first 2 hours of my reception, Afforadable catering stepped in. The 3 servers I had, covered the cocktail hour and beginning of the reception, even though it was not contracted that way. The servers didn't need to do that, but I was very touched that they cared enough to assist. The food was delicious. All of our guests were in love with the California salad and the Chicken Francis. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Their staff is friendly, and their prices are reasonable. You really do pay per plate instead of a blanketed amount for a required 50 guests. I would recommend them to friends based on their servers alone. Those 3 really saved the day and they kept my wedding flowing. read more

Awful experience! Eric Peer has told me for over two weeks now that I would receive a confirmation email from accounting and would receive a refund since I asked for the refund in a reasonable amount of time. Very rude and not helpful at all. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he basically told me, too bad I'm the only one to talk to and to reach out to the website if I wanted a response from someone else. He also told me to call my bank and file a claim that way since he didn't know what was going on with accounting. If you email and tell someone they are getting a refund for over two weeks and a refund has not been processed, why wouldn't you try to do anything to help that person get their money back? The whole conversation sounds like a scam and like they never had any intentions of giving me the refund that they stated they would give to me in the email that was sent by Eric. Zero stars. I give them 2 stars because the 2 servers I had were excellent! I had a sweet 16 birthday party for my daughter. The first representative I spoke with (Alexia) in regards to catering for my daughter's party her tone was not very friendly. She told me that the drinks for my daughter's party would be coffee and tea. I explain to her that it was a teen party and could I switch the coffee. She (Alexia) stated that I could not change the coffee and she stated it was standard. later, the representative changed to Reena. She was very nice and when we finalized the contract she allowed me to change the coffee to lemonade. I also stated to her that I read the contract and it states that if I wanted to keep any left over food, I would have to let the servers know. So I stated this to Reena and I also said to her could I just let you know to tell the servers that I would like to keep the leftover food I also stated to her that I would bring my own pans because she said to me that the servers will have 3 small pans and she said that will be fine and she would put it down that I wanted to keep the leftover food. The servers threw the food away and stated she never put anything down that I wanted to keep the remaining food! I address the situation with affordable Catering and Reena had the audacity to tell me its in the contract that they don't guarantee food and if the amount of guess showed then there would not have been any leftovers left. She flat out LIED to me and I am not happy about the amount of money I spent with them for them to just toss all the food that was left away and then tell me it was in my contract!!!!!!! I am so glad we made the decision to use Affordable Catering for our wedding reception at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton. All of the food was absolutely delicious, we received so many compliments from our guests! The Santorini feta chicken and the sour cream and dill potatoes were so flavorful and yummy. The green beans were a little undercooked, but they tasted good nonetheless. The crew showed up early and had everything set-up with plenty of time to spare, in addition to helping out with some last-minute needs. I worked with Stephanie to go over all the initial details, and she was extremely helpful and patient with all of my questions :) Lia was our day-of coordinator and I just don't know what I would have done without her. She literally saved the day, a few different times!! I think my mom must have hugged her at least 10 times by the end of the night. She was professional, attentive, thoughtful and as sweet as they come. In the midst of a few crises, Lia took charge and made sure I never felt overwhelmed or knew too much :) She made sure my husband and I each had a full plate of dinner waiting at our table, in addition to making us a plate of the hors d'oeuvres. Affordable Catering was a great choice for our 60's theme birthday party. We had the International hors d'oeuvres . Our server, Mark, arrived in plenty of time and set up a very beautiful buffet station, & then kept it hot, stacked and clean throughout the party. He even brought 45 RPM's as part of the props for the buffet table (amazing attention to detail!) This was our first time using a catering company and I got in his way doing things he would do (I soon got the hang of it and let him "manage" the food event and do his thing :). Our guests loved the food, especially the spicy sausage & there was plenty for everyone. Mark, with a true servant's heart, also jumped in & helped clear plates, empty garbage & chipped in any time he saw something that should be done (opening bottles for folks, getting olives for a blind guest who loved olives), so that we got to feel like guests at our own party. He even helped pack away the leftovers & then left it so clean that you'd never have guessed that we'd served 45 people there. We'll definitely use Affordable Catering & I would recommend Mark again for your next party. It was a great overall experience. read more

I used this company for my wedding reception earlier this month. I personally was not impressed and neither was my dad who footed the bill. The quality of food I was served at the tasting was outstanding. Flavorful, well seasoned, correctly cooked. This was what prompted me to go ahead with this company. The food served at our reception however, was nothing even remotely close to the quality I was served at the tasting. We ordered the Fruit and Fondue, and Tortelinni skewers for appetizers and for dinner Top Sirloin, Orange Honey Baked Ham, Vadaillia Onion Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans, and a salad. The appetizers, salad and rolls were the best part of the meal. Our Top Sirloin was so over cooked and cold that it was almost impossible to eat. (We had quite a few elderly guests who were flat out unable to eat it.) I understand the use of heating lamps, and the fact that large quantities of food are more difficult to cook, but being a "high rated" catering company I feel this shouldn't have been a problem. The ham was mostly fat. It was fine being cold because it's ham, but most of it was extremely fatty and lacking any type of flavor. The green beans were super crunchy..edible..but flavorless and crunchy. The potatoes weren't even cooked. I was told when I requested them that they were "a big hit" and "raved about" at a recent event. I was so excited to eat them...then extremely upset when I couldn't because they were as crunchy as an apple. Overall the food was the most important thing to us in regards to our wedding reception and we were very disappointed and embarrassed by what was served to our guests for dinner. Moving on to alcohol I don't have many positive things to say. We did the Import Beer and Wine package. We even counted the children who would be in attendance, not drinking alcohol obviously, and paid for them in the bar package so that there would be extra alcohol just in case. Of the 75 guests in attendance, there were at least 20 who did not drink. One hour into the reception we had already run out of one particular kind of beer. A bit later we were down to only one bottle of White Zinfendale. Now I understand it's not an "all you can drink" type of open bar, but when you pay for 75 people to drink and only 55 people actually drink, you would think there would be no shortage of alcohol. Well we were clearly wrong in that thought. And this only leads me to wonder, what if we had only paid for 55 people to drink? Would there have been enough? Probably not. Anyway...I feel my dad paid way way too much for what we recieved. It was pretty embarrassing and I am pretty heartbroken about the whole thing. Luckily our guests were understanding and we were all able to enjoy burgers and pizza at the after party as well as more wine and beer! I would not recommend this company to anyone for any reason unless you want to over pay for terrible food, a scant amount of alcohol, and mediocre customer service. read more

She had excellent communication with me during the planning phases and was always very prompt in her responses. The two staff members who worked my event (Jackie and Christina) were phenomenal-they went above and beyond for me, my husband, and guests. I am disappointed with Affordable Catering. I had high hopes as the whole process leading up to my wedding was easy, professional, and the price was very good. First, the pros: The staff on the day of was very nice. They set up and broke down quickly. The display was beautiful. They did a very nice job of cutting and serving the cake. One server that mistakenly told my guests she was serving bacon covered scallops instead of pineapple, but aside from some confusion or maybe avoidance due to dislike or allergy of seafood, it wasn't THAT big of a deal. I heard the appetizers were good and the beverage service was good. We didn't have alcohol because we were at a county park. I hosted a picnic lunch wedding with a few appetizers and additional sodas and bottled water. The cons: The main food..the hot dogs, hamburgers, sides, etc. Not one person out of my 63 guests liked any of it. I heard "cold", "burnt", "hard as a rock", etc. This wasn't just one burger snob complaining. Not one guest enjoyed the food. I only ate a few bites of a burger without a bun and a few bites of potato salad. I wasn't feeling well and I was stressed out over another vendor that gave me a lot of problems, but the little bit I did eat wasn't what I had expected or been looking forward to. I'm not sure what went wrong with just a simple hamburger and hot dog menu, but it did and I was not satisfied. I waited until the Tuesday after our Saturday wedding to write an email to let them know and asked to be reimbursed at least a little something for the fact the main food was terrible. I even made sure I praised them for the things that DID go right. I was trying to be reasonable. All I received was excuses; blame for me not saying anything the day of (um ...What could they do at that point - unburn the burgers? Besides - I was upset enough as it was and didn't want to deal with anything else on OUR WEDDING DAY! I waited until Tuesday simply because we went out of town for the weekend. Just because I wanted to enjoy our honeymoon doesn't mean I wasn't upset anymore! I didn't know my complaint would only be valid if posed when they thought it was appropriate.)Then I was told that people ate it so I was really out of luck. Of course people ate it-they were hungry by 2PM and would have eaten rocks if they had to! Doesn't make it right! Some of the blame can be placed on my other vendor for not communicating when the food was ready, but at the end of the day, Affordable Catering was responsible for the food and should have done whatever possible to ensure it was tasty, served on time, and at the appropriate temperature etc. regardless of what the other guy was slacking on. This didn't happen. I was told owners would be informed. Not a peep from them since, but now that I read some of the owner responses to negative online reviews, I don't expect anything else but more excuses and blaming, and berating after I post this. read more

Great Catering Experience. Affordable Catering was a delight to use from the first phone call until the last leftover was boxed up. They helped us choose the menu that was right for our party & within our budget without tacking on extra fees later. Our server, Claudio, arrived early to set up a stunning buffet station that was more beautiful than anything I could do, & then kept it looking beautiful as he served food thoughout the party. Our guests loved the food, especially the hot crab dip & the meatballs, & there was more than enough for everyone. Claudio also jumped in & helped clear plates, emptied garbage & chipped in any time he saw something that should be done, so that we got to feel like guests at our own party. He even helped me pack away the leftovers & then left the room that we'd served the food in so clean that you'd never have guessed that we'd served 50 people there.
