I want to provide an update based upon my softened view and long-term experience with this company…read morethroughout a 10-year period of owning my home. I have since built a home with another local builder and find that my opinion of SAH has softened and, even improved based upon the lackluster customer service and responsibility taken by that new company. Building a home and hiring subcontractors is difficult work and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Yes, I did have problems with the roof on the home (for years) but SAH did take accountability and try to resolve it a few times and paid. While we did argue with them about some things (and I now know this happens with EVERY new build) during the build they backed up their work with me and even did some repairs to my hardwoods and paid for me to get a dehumidifier under the home in the crawl about 5 years after build when the home had some issues related to sweating. Working with their new warranty person - even years later - was easy and she was happy and willing to answer simple questions regarding vendors when issues arose from normal living/wear and tear so I could reach out to those vendors myself to get my home repaired by those who originally built items in the home. In the end, my home was beautiful and held up in style throughout the years and SAH is still building beautiful homes and constantly trying to improve and provide their standard style with improvements and updates. I am impressed with the changes they've made and I look back on their accountability and willingness to come take a look at issues and engage with me over things YEARS later that proves they try to stand by their work. This means a lot and other local builders do not offer the same I assure you.

what can I say??? my house is beautiful but the issues I have had since moving in three months ago…read moreis unacceptable. I don't know if it's because my house only cost about 572,000 which is on the lower end of what they build that maybe they do not care about me as a customer. The emergent issues I have had since moving in have been fixed but the issues found during my walk through have yet to be addressed. I am told over and over again I'm sorry I will make sure it gets taken care of. after three in a half months my issues have not been addressed and my last email has even gone with out a reply. I'll say this if you are not happy with something do not close because it will not be fixed after they already have your money and they will be moving on to the next house.

So disappointed in how our home buying experience went. Be wary of people that use their own guys…read moreto do inspections and fix things. They are probably working for them so they get the sale! Here are just a few things that the inspector and realtor did not catch or mention: The electrical connections for the fans upstairs were a major fire hazard and I simply cannot believe this was overlooked. Whoever connected the fans before, connected them to a 220V AC unit for the sunroom. They kept lowering the gauge of the wire so it went form 10 gauge (dual 20A breaker) to 12 gauge to 14 gauge wire and eventually to 18 gauge and it kept blowing lights and burning motors on the fans. Not only did the inspector not notice it, but the contractor that replaced or fixed the fans didn't say anything about it!!!! They also forgot to mention that there were no electrical boxes behind the ceiling fans. They were screwed in directly to the joist through the drywall. Of course, that is not what we were told. Also, another major issue is that the hood over the stove is vented to the sunroom as well which was never put in the inspector's report, and I am sure will be another electrical issue. I am also pretty sure that this particular home model had a loft that was converted into a third bedroom and that information was never given to us. I am not sure why any of this was not caught by the inspector, but this is why I had pressed hard for a second inspection by a different inspector. In the backyard there is a shed that is in bad shape and was found to have termite damage. I asked if the homeowner would be willing to remove it, only to be told by my own realtor that was ridiculous. And sure maybe it is, but then what is the harm in asking! Our sunroom had a bad panel in it. We were told oh it will get fixed but not until after the closing. I wasn't having it and wanted out of the house and voiced my opinion about the house, and me wanting out, and another inspection. All of the sudden the night before closing everything is fixed! So the realtor quickly got someone to go in and patch it up. Heck for all I know it could have been him! We didn't even have time to look! My husband says whoever did patchwork did a lousy job and the fact that the paperwork stated they needed to use a qualified contractor for everything. That was never done. Our sunroom leaks of course right where that panel is now! I feel like a fool for a number of reasons. First, I knew in my gut there was something not right about this house. There were so many things that came up in the inspection but I could also tell it just wasn't a good well maintained home. There was a lot of work that needed to be done and I didn't trust the inspector's report. I desperately wanted a second opinion and was basically shut down. Then at closing my name was left off the deed. I should have gotten up and ran then! I felt like I was being forced into buying this house and it wasn't like buying a house it was like buying a used car! Also at closing I felt like I was forced to write a review about the experience. I was made to feel bad for wanting so much to get done, that I felt like I was in the wrong! I was actually feeling guilty and very pregnant, so I wrote what I felt would be fair ,but it is not the way I truly felt. My husband has had to fix so many things with this house already, thank God we've documented all of it too, I am planning on taking my situation elsewhere. My advice: HIRE YOUR OWN INSPECTOR! And if you are not happy with your realtor or the answers they give you get a new one!

The largest complaint I have is that they don't take the time to see what the owner really wants and how the owner wants their property managed. Additionally, the amount of turnover is detrimental. In 4 years I've been assigned 4 different managers and now on our second website. The manager I have now, Shannon, is great, but the problems appear to be at a higher and more systemic level.
