After the glowing reviews I heard from my mother-in-law, who has been a skilled nurse at BrightStar…read morein both the Canton and Marietta offices for some time, I just had to join this team of amazing people. It is such a pleasure to work with people, who love what they do and make such a difference in the lives of so many. My grandmother passed away from Alzheimer's some years ago. Before she passed, the family decided it was time to place her in a facility. Unfortunately, she was placed in one of nightmares. You couldn't tell anything was wrong from the outside. It breaks my heart to know what she must have endured. When the time comes, I take comfort in knowing that there are people like the caregivers and skilled nurses at BrightStar to help our family... and that we won't be making the same mistake with our parents as we did with granny. Their staffing side is comprehensive and thorough, and their patient care side is both patient and caring with unparalleled knowledge of their clients' needs. I rarely gush, and I apologize for it now, but these things have been weighing on me heavily as of late. It is such a relief to have found them. You really have no idea how much of a relief it really is.

Today I was sent another care giver who was deathly afraid of my black lab which Bright Star had met when they came to the house but failed to tell the care giver....I had to send the care giver home so I could not work most of the day in order to care for my mother.

It was a harrowing beginning…read more Quick read: they scared us blue because their dangerous lack of attention to detail. The whole story: When our 2 portable cylinders were used up on trip home from the hospital, I had to drive 45 minutes to the "local" office and exchange them so we could make it safely to & from the follow up appointment the next day with the specialist. That was when I learned they hadn't delivered the usual extra pair of E tanks when they delivered & set up the concentrator. Guess what... The concentrator died the second day. That's when I had to go through the entire automated voice system to get to our local customer service location where a human finally answered. After going through a torturous tech support script & repeating everything I had tried, she scheduled us between 11 & 6 that day. That did not go over well. I explained we had 1 tank of with about 30-45 minutes worth of o2 @ 4-5L/min. It was left over from the follow up trip to the specialist. She asked me a number of questions (which was only raising my blood pressure at this point) & discovered they had failed to provide the required M tank for emergencies such as the concentrator breaking down or for power outages. She relented when she realized this situation was a company failure & called logistics to see if they could send someone sooner. She warned me there were no guarantees because all the vans were out on their scheduled rounds. Seriously!?!?! We were to call 911 if we got too low before the Apria tech arrived. So basically, 10-15 minutes until I have to call by this time. Funniest thing, I got a call from Logistics not a minute later telling me a tech would be there in under an hour. He was on his way. He couldn't give me a better ETA. The tech arrived fairly quickly. He did not come up with a cylinder nor a replacement concentrator. The tech did run through a couple of perfunctory test steps just to unplug it and roll it out to his van to get another... My BP is still rising and my jaw is now clenched so hard I'm sure my neck muscles were bulging... In three trips, he replaced the concentrator, traded 2 cylinders out and brought two extra - 4 cylinders now, then brought up the emergency M tank. Definetely what should have been here. Anyway, we were all blue in the face along with the patient, by the time the contrentrater was turned on & set up to work. I went straight to the max of 5L and waited for the pale face turn rosy enough again. They should have set the room up properly in the first place. All the right equipment installed and ready. This "emergency" wouldn't have happened had we had the emergency tabk been in place. This was the first 48 hours.

Triff at Home Care immediately answered her cell phone and treated me like a VIP client (not the annoyed comparative shopper that I was)! Hampton then visited my dad's house the very same day for a consult. She treated my dad respectfully and like a friend, and she correctly remembered every detail about his surgery that I'd previously rattled off over the phone. We couldn't have been more grateful for the 5-star process of the company and the professionalism and care of its staff. I would highly recommend Home Care Assistance to anyone.
