Front desk staff are cranky and unfriendly. I won't be coming back. Lots of other urgent care options in the area.

Had to go today to get stuff checked out today and was greeted by a cute nurse. Her refusal to go out with me had me decrease a point. I was wearing an inspector gadget shirt. Come on now. Shouldve been a no brainer. The wait times vary from not bad to OMG I might as well wait for the second coming of Jesus at this point, but it's a doctor's office, so you gotta grin (or not) and bear it. Magazine selection sucks eel testicles. No entertainment magazines, all health related jargin. There was an mag with a column titled "Food Porn" but it did not butter my roll (pun...not...intended). I was expecting something more erotic :P Anyway, as my primary care I won't split hairs-the three docs are very personal, informative, and remember shit you told them from last visits even when not staring at a computer screen. That stuff matters in the end, you know? So for Dr. Ronald Frank and Co all I say is "Doctor Doctor, gimme the news...I got a bad case of appreciating your work ethic."

https://myfamilycaremd.com…read more Family Care Medical Practice in Greenbrook, NJ have been my family's favorite physicians for the past 21 years. All of the Physicians, Nurses, and Clinical Staff always greet you with a smile, and sincerely wish to help you to regain your health, for you and your family member's current ailments. This team of professionals have been employed by Family Care for many years and you will be able to establish a rapport with the Doctors. You and your family will be treated as valued guests/clients and will not be reduced to just a number on a chart. The owner of the practice, Dr. Chafos is an excellent Physician; kindly, patient, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Personally, I have been a patient of Dr. John Chafos' since before Family Care opened, more than 25 years ago. The medical care and compassion from the entire staff, their attention to detail and overall positive outcomes can not be matched by other medical practices in the area. This facility is quiet and calm and suitable for all age groups, especially children, Seniors and people with special needs. The consultation rooms for individual patients are private, comfortable and always clean. And the office is open for walk-ins all day long, beginning very early in the morning into the late evening hours. It is nice to have the flexibility to visit when the time is right for you. A variety of testing techniques are available (Bloodwork, X-ray, urinalysis, on-site testing for flu/Covid/pneumonia, etc.), popular vaccines are available to be administered. ( Even the Shingles vaccine is available and recommended for individuals over 50.) In addition, a professional Phlebotomist from LabCorp is always on staff. Please, bear in mind, patience is a virtue, this is a well-loved medical practice and you may have a wait time to be seen by the Doctor of your choice on the day of your visit. Happily, there are usually 3-4 Doctors in the office at any given moment, and a multitude of Nursing staff as well. These factors will reduce your overall time spent on your visit. In addition, the Family Care website lists the Doctors on staff for that particular day and location, as well as the schedule for the next following days, so you may best plan out your day. This facility is wheelchair accessible and if you need assistance entering the building, a quick call to the front desk will have a Staff member coming directly out to assist you into the building. A large, off-street parking lot is in available. I have been on a weight loss program under Dr. Chafos' and Dr. Klele's care for the past four years, (without weight-loss medication, but the newer specialized medications may be made available to you if you meet certain criteria). Since Spring of 2019, I have lost more than 100 lbs. or 40% of my body weight, reduced my waist by more than 14 inches, reduced my body fat by 14% and reduced my BMI from 44 to 27 and went from severely obese to almost "normal" BMI. (I am now a size 10, after having lost 9 Jean sizes!!!) During the course of this diet loss program, I reversed my pre-diabetes into a perfect 5.0 A1c! I am currently 19 lbs from goal and will likely make that goal weight before the end of this year, 2023. It has been a long, but fruitful journey and my health has only improved during this time. (If you are in a similar situation, and do not know where to begin, please speak with one of the Doctors, please know they will help you.) If you are seeking a team of Dedicated Doctors and healthcare professionals whom will listen to your needs and concerns, then I do recommend that you visit and consult with one of the many available Doctors (all long-term employed) and plan of a course of action to coordinate your return to excellent health. I hope this message finds you well, but if you are not well, be assured there are still Doctors in the world who want to help you. PS There is also a satellite office located in Hillsborough, NJ!

Hello, I am writing…read moreto express my disappointment with a recent experience I had while trying to resolve a billing issue at your office. After speaking with someone in Family Care, I was advised to contact my insurance company to correct the billing error. I did so, and a representative from my insurance company spoke with Patty G. to try to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, he was met with resistance and felt disrespected by Patty G., who did not allow him to assist me further. He eventually advised me to speak with Patty G. directly. When I called, I also encountered immediate resistance. Patty G. was unhelpful and ultimately hung up on me. Frustrated, I went to the office in person to try to resolve the matter, but again was treated poorly. Debra came out with her arms crossed, appeared very defensive, and escorted me to the door while threatening to call the police--without giving me the opportunity to explain why I was there. I was humiliated by the treatment I received from both staff members. If I had been treated with respect and professionalism over the phone, I would not have felt the need to visit the office in person. I have been a patient with Family Care since Dr. John Chafos left Medemerge, but due to this experience, I will be seeking medical care elsewhere. I am deeply disappointed by how I was treated and feel that no patient should be made to feel this way.

I don't want to speak negatively of hospitals, but I can't help comparing my recent experience here…read morewith the experience I had a little over a year ago at St. Barnabas. I can't condemn anything about the medical care I received there... I believe St. Barnabas rates as 1 of the top hospitals in the state of NJ, after all ... but parking was a nightmare, the people supposed to register me as a patient were more than a little bit impatient and unhelpful, and I thought the belligerent security guard was 1 step away from tackling me to the ground in a choke hold. My doctor wanted me to get another echocardiogram, which I had for the 1st time a little over a year ago at Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center (not St. Barnabas the hospital, in this case, although it wasn't far away; it's a stone's throw from the Livingston Mall and about a mile away from the baronial estate of the late Mafia boss Ruggiero "Ritchie the Boot" Boiardo). I had no particular grievance against the Ambulatory Care Center (if I remember right, I wrote a fairly positive review about the experience), but RWJ is closer to where I live, and it's not like the Ambulatory Care Center experience was so stellar that I NEEDED to go there, as opposed to anywhere else. I had been to RWJ a few years ago for a test when I started having digestive problems. The test was inconclusive, but I didn't blame RWJ, as my own doctor (and I like my doctor) ran a series of tests and ultimately said, "We can't find out what's wrong with you. If the problem continues, make an appointment with a gastroenterologist." Instead, I bought a bottle of Pepto Bismol, and that seemed to eradicate the issue, for the time being, anyway. Ultimately, I probably will have to see a gastroenterologist. But that's another review for a later time (after I've actually gone to one, that is). I remembered that RWJ was off the main street, Union Ave., and I was able to locate it again without too much difficulty. I wasn't sure which building I was supposed to go to, but there was a large free outdoor parking lot. I went to the 1st nearby building, where a security guard sat. I still had the "muscle memory" of my confrontation with the St. Barnabas security guard making me tense up, but this security guard was actually very helpful and informative. I asked him if it was ok for me to park in that large free parking lot, and he said it was. When I indicated the kind of test I was there to have performed, he actually walked me to the main pathway, told me to walk to the end of it, and the part of the hospital I needed to go to was there. Inside that part of RWJ, I waited on a small line, but it didn't take long before I was in front of a representative. She signed me in quickly, took a photo for my brand new RWJ I.D., and affixed a white "patient strip" around my wrist. She then directed me to the elevator, told me what floor I needed to get to, and where exactly I had to go once I reached that floor. Couldn't have been easier. Upstairs in the cardiac center, I was efficiently registered, told how long my wait would be, and directed to a comfortable waiting area. (My 1 complaint would be that they had 1 magazine available to read; it was People, which I detest. Two thirds of the "celebrities" within its pages are "beautiful" ciphers I've never heard of, and hopefully never will hear of again. Remember when People sometimes wrote stories of importance and gravity? Yeah, I'm old enough to remember those ancient, bygone days...) At 1 point, the lady who had registered me came over and apologized that the wait would be a little longer than anticipated. The extra wait time didn't bother me...I anticipate a wait anytime I go to a doctor or hospital...but I appreciated the gesture. Before too long, the pleasant young woman performing the echocardiogram brought me in. It's not a colonoscopy (which is unpleasant but not painful), and it's certainly not agonizing in any way, but I wouldn't exactly call it something to look forward to. I'm lying on my side, shirt off, with my fish-white flesh exposed and my flabby belly hanging out (my youthful days of lifting weights and running 6 miles every other day are obviously long behind me), while she leaned over me, probing my gelled-up chest with a probe or wand or whatever it's called, monitoring the heart's activity on a screen. When I went for the test a year ago in Livingston, the amplified sound of my own heart freaked me out, but the person performing the test then gave no indication that anything could be done about it. This time, when I mentioned how that sound bothered me, the woman performing the test said, "Oh, I can shut off the sound, so you don't have to hear it." Again, I appreciated the gesture. All in all, my experience at RWJ was much more positive than my encounter at St. Barnabas. Parking wasn't an ordeal, and everyone I encountered was helpful and at least relatively friendly. I have no problem coming here again, if I have to.
