BEWARE!!! My mother in-law was an in patient on 3 Pavillon. An RN, aide and assistant director of nursing on the night shift stole her engagement ring! I've been told by Somerville police the hospital doesn't cooperate with the local police! They know they stole the ring and the three are still employed there! If I could I would give this place zero stars. The place is a dump. The ER is dirty, the nurses and staff have no bedside manners, they are not only rude but I saw one of them manhandle a lady that came in last night with a nose bleed. Completely unprofessional. Have had many visits to the ER in the past and every time is another negative experience where the staff is just extremely rude and unprofessional or unequipped to do their job. i wish i can give RWJ Hospital a -1,000. I had to pay over $1,300 for a STOMACH ACHE. They said I was just constipated... my insurance was not working and cut me off. i'm 25 years old. i don't have a lot of money and saving up to pay off my student loans. i asked charity care if they can help and they didn't offer me 100% because a "threshold" I LIVE AT HOME WITH MY MOTHER AND THIS ECONOMY SUCKS. The intake/triage nurses here are trash. My hand started turning blue when one of them took my blood pressure. It just kept cycling through. I asked the nurse if it should still be going since it had been on for five minutes since the first nurse put it on and it was only getting tighter. She told me to just let it keep going. I eventually ripped it off when my hand started changing colors. Also, what kind of hospital hand writes your allergies on an allergy bracelet? Never again. read more

I've had several experiences with this hospital, and yes, in the past, they had many areas that needed improvement. But my last stay was in May 2024 for a kidney infection and severe back pain. I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements. Each nurse introduced him or herself at every shift change. I was treated with respect, kindness and with a gentle touch. I was awakened with a gentle voice and a warm sponge bath. Instead of a horrible experience, I felt for the first time in a hospital that they cared about me as a human being with feelings and emotions. I'm hoping that this type of care continues throughout the entire hospital! So kudos for this hospital! read more

You're made to feel unwelcome from the moment you walk in to the moment they drag you out on a stretcher. Took the wife to the ER Only a PA saw her. Are they too cheap to have an actual Dr on hand?? They wouldn't even test the issue. They said it wasnt a life threatening problem. So we r being discharged still not knowing if my wife tore her calf muscle or Achilles tendon... They said follow up with your dr. As you know it could take days or weeks to get an appt then get a scan or mri and it could be weeks by the time she knows what is wrong. Meanwhile she will miss work and school. read more

Ok im sorry. .have to be honest. They were horrific. I rather bleed to death then ever go there again. All they cared about was shooting or trying to shoot me up with morphine instead if fixing the issue. I have to acute nephritis. It's very serious and the treatment I got was horrific. Right down to the nurses. Like they hated their job. I'm going to be ok. But it's scary being there alone. No one sat down with me and took the time to explain what I have. Very sad. And they judge you. Continued from Somerset Medical Review So there I lay all alone accept for an occasional visit from a VNA nurse, who never ordered home care, since I was alone. I guess the VNA feels if you can speak you don't need physical help. Here I laid still in excruciating pain, unable to take even advil, due to Crohn's and stomach bleeds, tylenol due to Tylenol induced hepatitis that almost killed me and sweats, vomiting and shock because of the pain issue. The system just doesn't care and I firmly believe because there is no compassion, people are dying every day. If it wasn't for the fact that I come from strong stock, strong faith, I would have never made it through the next year. Living on a small SSDI income did not allow me to pay for self pay help. Did Somerset Medical staff care what they did to me. NO not one bit. In fact, because of fear of lawsuits they took no responsibility or accountability to help me. A year down the line after non-stop in and outpatient rehab, personal rehab on my own. My surgeon telling me to suck it up and it would just take longer to heal, oh yeah he forgot about the fall. Just kept telling me I'd be back to golfing, caring for my home etc before I knew it. I trusted him, sadly I shouldn't have I stepped down into my sunken family room, one step and my right knee let go careening me to the floor. In September of 2012 I had to have reconstructive surgery of the right knee. The patella, was floating around and the muscles, ligaments and tendons that were stretched to their max because of the swelling from being dropped were incapable of doing their job and holding the knee in place. Onset of ratcheting of the knee joint in both joint replacements, of course the right one being worse. After trying to move through it, causing pain that was 24/7 it finally ruined all ability to function in any type of normal form, that I used to do. Besides the knee, everything fell apart in my life. Having t deal with a crippled spouse for some people doesn't fall under the category of "in sickness and in health" This whole event caused me to lose everything I held dear to me and I am still fighting to save my home. In 2017, the right knee once again let go . That Ratcheting I mentioned was working silently to severed every muscle, tendon or ligament meant to hold my leg and joints in pace. When the very lengthy repair and total leg rebuild took place, I had a quad that looked like a fruit rollup, tendons and ligaments as well as that quad, that had to be reattached using surgical mesh to make the connections and 4 months in a heavy casted straight leg cast from my right hip to my right toes. Wheelchair bound with orders not to bare weight on the leg so the connections could heal, was a horror in every sense. The rehab I was put in had a continuous weekly death toll, that was unbelievable. The place was a death trap and my insurance company refused to let me move to another facility. half the time there were no working elevators or the one that worked required a person on a gurney to literally have to be folded in half to get up to the second floor or down to the first. I was there for over 4 months and never once did I get a proper shower or bath. I should have never been their if SMC/RWJ of Somerville followed proper protocol in getting me up. Those aides that dropped me, were not doctors, they had no medical training to decipher if I had feeling or problems with the legs or anything else that would have caused me to fall. It is now 2019. The surgery has failed due to all the previous damage and my body being too frail to heal properly all because of the poor care and precautions of RWJ Somerville. I now have to face another 4 months or more in a cast. I can't go up and down stairs, accept for peg legged. I have to walk with an upright walker which cost me $800 and wasn't covered by insurance. I have fallen and broken wrists, arms, cracked my head on concrete. the list goes on, all because of the failures of RWJ Somerville. Fast forward to June 20, 2019. After going to a chiropractor complaining of pain in my neck and shoulder yet from another fall caused by the knee giving out, he refused to touch me and instructed me to go to the ER. Since my next stop was my primary doctors office to get a medical clearance for an endoscopy, I continued on to her office a doctor of RWJ Physicians Enterprise. When I made it to the building on 206 north, I literally crawled out for my truck after grabbing the hand rail to help myself exit. I keeled over next to my truck, proceeded to vomit and sweat profusely. After collecting myself to a functioning degree, I crawled by hanging and staggering down the hall to the handicapped bathroom on the first floor. I came in to the ER a couple weeks prior to this visit with horrible cramping and nausea. I arrived at 8 pm, saw the doctor once and wasn't given anything for pain ( all I asked for was ibuprofen). After an ultrasound came back the doctor said everything was normal. I asked if its normal why am I in this pain?he then proceeded to tell me if I wanted to go through the what he thought was unnecessary process of drinking the liquid and waiting for a CT scan I could but he didnt think I needed it. Now it was midnight and he treated me like a nuisance. So I told him I'd go to another doctor that actually cared to figure out what was wrong and signed myself out. Now as I type this I'm laying in a hospital bed because I was admitted last night and needed emergency appendix surgery as my appendix was filled with pus. Had this doctor before actually cared to do his job or show me any compassion it probably could have been caught earlier and I wouldn't have been in debilitating pain for the past two weeks. This hospital was terriable. My wifte almost died there came out with bed soars and the staff would leave the room dirty. I found blood on the walls and urine leaking on the floor. let me start from the beginning my girl friends 76 year old father had pneumonia went to robert wood johnson somerset, the gave him antibiotics and sent him home after 3 days a week later he was back in there for pneumonia again , he was there for 1 week , they sent him to a rehab, a few weeks went by , he was brought from rehab in a ambulance 5-8-17 with worse pneumonia then the first 2 time he was there, the doctors are cold hearted and told my girl friend to just let him pass away, i dont no how stupid these idiots they call drs cant seem to cure pneumonia , its been around for how long and those stupid idiot doctors cant seen to cure it in a parient needless to say her dad is now dead, i will never go to that crap hole hospital for anything, they have complete f ing idiots working in the craphole of a hospital and 1 more thing for christ sake get some english speaking doctors this isnt india robert wood johnson somerset isnt a hospital its a slaughter house read more

My mother was admitted on a holiday weekend.She went to the Er on a Wednesday got admitted and didn't see a doctor till Monday after I insisted and said to her nurse all these patients on this floor didn't see a doctor either. Bottom line her doctor had doctors rights at this hospital and the nurse tells me that my mom''s doctor didn't.Well I did my homework and the hospital has there own doctors who they want you to see.This place has changed drastically.Short staffed in aides and nurse shortage.Understaffed. read more

The most disgusting hospital I have ever been at in my life. This used to be Somerset Medical and I had 2 of my kids there! I came here with SEVERE back pain from a car accident and every member of the staff was treating me like I was "medical seeking" I'm an official pain management patient, I'm on narcotic with official scripts and they wouldn't give me an MRI! They wouldn't put me on medications through the IV as I was sick to my stomach and couldn't eat or drink. They wanted to keep me there and give me the SAME meds I had at home! While being treated like a drug addict! I can't believe what the medical system has turned into! The medical director apologizes and says this is their "conditioning" they see a lot of horrible stuff! That doesn't give them the right to profile! They should at least be smart enough to to use discretion!! I will be complaining about them and reporting them and will not let this go unknown! read more

Is there a way not to give this hospital a star at all... i walked in there suffering from chills, sweats & a headache that i had for 4 days. i felt it was from some canned scungilli. The doctor said that since i wasn't vomitting or didn't have diahrea, it wasn't food poisoning & that was that. No blood test, no urine test, no culture swabs not even an aspirin for my head that's been hurting for 4 days. Thanks for the copay, be on your way. my car is in the car wash longer than the amount of time i spent in the "emergency" room. i went regular physician the next day. Turns out that physician had another patient that came in a day before me that was suffering adominal pain who also left that hospital without being properly treated. back to my situation, turns out i had 105 degree temperature & pneumonia. i don't know what's going on at somerset medical, if they are understaffed or improperly trained staff but they will never see me in there again. read more

Was in with a injured kid.Was pretty fast for a hospital.He was checked on within the first 15 minutes or so by a PA. I would say that about 20 minutes later a doctor checked him and told us that they will do x rays and a cat scan.Everything and out the door about 3 hours.Really can't complain. read more
