My husband and I are extremely impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of Ronnie Wright…read moreConcrete. Ron really took time to explain every aspect of extending our driveway and adding a sidewalk onto the side of our home. This included a thoughtful discussion on water management and drainage. From quote to concrete pour, the job was accomplished in a remarkable four days. There were several changes that we discussed with Ron throughout the course the project. Ron always showed enthusiasm about helping us achieve exactly what we wanted. My husband and I came up with several fitting slogans: 1. He's the Wright man for the job. 2. Ron will take care of your concrete needs the Wright way. 3. He's got the Wright stuff, baby. 4. You can't go wrong with Wright. 5. Concrete issues? Ron will make everything Wright. With fair prices, remarkably quick turn around time, and dependable service, Ronnie Wright Concrete was a joy to work with. We will definitely work with Ron again in the future.

Ronnie has low prices but that's the end of the good news. He took 34 days to do my 18x20 driveway…read moreand a 16x22 slab. I hired him to do my 12x34 patio slab and it went well so I hired him for a bigger project a few days later. Each day he showed up he was asking for another 4, 5, or 6 grand. He was at the 90% mark of the $32K quote and still hadn't done the driveway yet. The dumpster company that he contracted to put the old concrete in called me and said they were putting a lien on my house because he refused to pay them after they'd hounded him. I wonder if he ever paid for the concrete delivery or will I have an additional $4,000 lien to deal with? I told him about the lien and he assured me he was taking care of it. Nope. The dumpster company thinks I'm giving them the run around, still demanding $400 on top of my incomplete job that I now have to pay someone else thousands to finish. In 29 days he was at my house just 7 days and never more than about 5 hours per trip. He removed the driveway and framed it out but then I waited weeks for the concrete. He constantly had 'relatives' with emergencies (some out of town) that required him to vanish for days on end, always right after I gave him another $5K. He's fine for small jobs but don't do anything over 12x30 or you'll be hearing the stories. The dumpster driver sent me a text where he told the dumpster company he was so broke he could only put down 3 to 4 inches of concrete instead of the 6 inches he said he was putting down. He told me several times "they all crack, just get used to it". I should have checked the BBB site for complaints because there were several. All the BBB complaints read the same: incomplete or improper jobs that he refuses to correct or refund. After seeing all the complaints here and elsewhere I doubt I'll get my $6,000 back for the work he didn't do even if I take him to court. Serial scam artist, apparently the concrete guys are not required to be licensed or bonded so there's no recourse to get satisfaction with the county/city/state and they know it. I tipped each member of his crew any time they actually worked more than a couple hours and even bought all 10 of them lunch. Can't believe this guy is still in business, he showed up late the last day when I told him not to come back that someone else was doing the rest of the job and he said "I sure wish you would've told me that before I bought this $200 worth of supplies", as if I had put him in a bad financial way somehow. That showed me he still had no awareness or understanding of how bad the situation was at all. 12 sunny cloud free days in that span without anyone showing up at all, no answer to calls or texts or explanation as to why they didn't show. Buyer beware.

Poor communication between crew and business owner who was unable to correctly convey instructions…read moreto crew. He was rarely present to ensure work was done as planned. "Don't speak English," was workers reply even when I spoke Spanish to them. This resulted in pavers not being marked for our pool well points (an added cost when the liner is replaced), poor drainage (mold on pavers), excessive motar dropped into pool (required us to do major cleanup on stuck mortar from bottom of pool and repeated draining and flushing "gray" pool water out), and steps were never installed safely as promised. One year later (August 2021), has failed to return to fill gaps in pavers and seal them despite numerous calls and promises. Would NOT recommend this company for your home improvement.

A couple of homes in my neighborhood had used Gulfside (James Martin) and we liked their results…read more Upon reading the reviews on this site, we decided to contact James for a complete overhaul of our landscaping -- a project that we expected would cost in the neighborhood of $100,000. We were unable to speak with James during the initial call, rather his assistant (Sue Thoma -- a very nice and upbeat person) said that we would have to first pay James $250 just to have an initial meeting during which he would decide whether he was interested in doing our job. We politely declined and were then about to move on to our second choice. A short while later Sue called back and said that James would welcome the opportunity to do our job and that there would not be a fee for the initial meeting. The meeting was held a couple days later and James indeed confirmed that he looked forward to doing the landscape work at our house. He presented a contract the next day which contained a $7,500 "Garden Design Fee." This was a bit unusual as most larger landscape contractors include the design as part of their overall service. James explained that he has had problems with customers getting his design and then going elsewhere. He also noted that the contract provided that if we retained his company, the "Garden Design Fee" would be credited against the overall project cost. Because our neighbors had assured us that James pricing would be fair, we proceeded to sign the contract and pay the fee. During the initial meeting, James had assured us that the design would be completed within two weeks and that the entire project would be completed two months. After submitting the signed contract and payment of the fee, James then advised that he would not be able to get to our design for four to six weeks. This was disappointing, however believing that we had the right person for the job we were accepting of the delay. Toward the end of the six weeks my wife contacted James to find out how the design was coming along and when we could expect to see the landscape plan. James assured her that the plan was coming along "nicely" and that he would be in a position to meet with us one week later to go over it. As it turned out, we were going to be out of town the week he wanted to meet so we set the meeting for the following week. James assured her that the landscape design would be complete and that his company would be ready to immediately move forward with the work. Then yesterday, one week before the scheduled meeting, we receive a letter from James (not even a phone call) saying that "due to circumstances beyond my control I am not going to be able to" provide the landscape design. The particular reason James stated in his letter was that he: "...devoted much thought and time to it and ... I am just not 'feeling it'." I do not feel that James Martin/Gulfside Landscaping is trustworthy. I will not recommend that others use their services.
