UPDATE... Harpers just installed my new fridge. kind, courteous, careful, considerate of my home…read more What a pleasure dealing with the people at Harpers. I'm talking about sales people who are familiar with ALL their products. They are also good listeners. They hear your preferences, your budget and they find the right fit for YOU. My parents dealt with this store...and now I've just bought my 2nd fridge from them. They get my vote... and my dollar!

As a long-time customer of Harper's, I will not be returning…read more We bought a GE washer/dryer from them in December of 2023. The washer made a loud and jarring "boom" sound when it began its cycle, and several times throughout the washing cycle. Harper's came out to look at it twice, and said that there was nothing wrong with it - perhaps it was a plumbing issue (though the previous washer had not made this sound). We had a plumber check it out and it was not a plumbing issue. We have listened to the very loud booms from the machine (which reverberate throughout the house) for 2 years until it stopped working last week. Our repairman said it needed a new control board, which he installed. This still did not fix the problem. His finding was that the "boom" sound was a defective drive motor, which was not detected by Harper's on 2 occasions. When I went to Harper's today to tell them about the situation they took no responsibility, telling me their repair person had looked at the machine and not found anything wrong with it, and unfortunately the warranty was up. I find this very frustrating, as there was clearly something wrong with the machine from the beginning, and their lack of getting to the root of the problem caused it to break after only two years. Yes, technically it is no longer their problem, but they could have done way better on this. Extremely disappointing.

I wish I could give this business a zero star review. After the initial smiles and glad handing…read morefrom the sales staff, our service went off a cliff. Within one year of spending nearly $8,000 on new kitchen appliances, our range hood made a noise like someone sawing through logs and the oven\microwave unit completely died. In the interest of brevity, I will just address the oven unit. We filed a claim through warranty and from beginning to end it took FOUR MONTHS to solve the problem. Bray and Scarff kept sending out the same technician who would get on an iPad and look up the manual and decide he was missing parts. This happened multiple times until my husband used AI and printed out EXACTLY what was wrong and showed it to the technician. He ignored him and it took two more visits and a call to corporate to finally get it fixed. Now, about 14 months later we are having THE SAME EXACT ISSUE with the appliance. I called today and was told that after a year the Bray and Scarff warranty company deletes ALL previous service issues after a year, so we are starting from scratch. And the "corporate" woman who assured us that should we EVER have a problem again with the appliance to contact her directly told us today that the warranty "changed their policy" and she can't help us (Hollie Sweeney, sorry, we saved ALL the emails). I don't know how this story is going to end but I can guess. Do not purchase anything from this company and definitely DO NOT purchase any warranties. We were pushed into it by our salesman at the Columbia location. This company should be sued in a class action law suit.

Ahhh...the working man's version of a shoe store…read more I stopped to get some lumber and needed to have it cut. I was in the store for about 20min, 18 of which was spent trying to find someone to operate the saw. At last, a woman (Sylvia) in a HD apron is walking my way. I ask her for her and without thought, she points and tells me to go "down there". She said someone "down there" should be able to help you. I ask why she couldn't and she said because she doesn't work here (I'm in front of the saw in the lumber area). A few minutes later Sam comes into view. I ask him for help and he immediately says, I can take care of that for you. He does, and appears genuinely eager to do so. SAM, and SAM only, is the reason for the stars!! Sylvia needs a lesson in teamwork. 1. Don't point me in the direction you think may be right, escort me so we are both clear 2. If you don't know, find out 3. Don't guess if someone "can or should" be able to help me...find someone that can.

The employee never got off his butt while telling me that the outside machine does not work the way I told him it had worked for me. He said only a cashier can complete the transaction and provide a code to start the exchange. I showed him the receipt and he still said it doesn't work that way. The sign says it does but he insisted the sign says to come inside and pay a cashier. So he's called me a liar. Ace Hardware has great employees.
