And the camp was so quiet and so peaceful. The regulars that stay there on and off or incredibly friendly also and even though we brought the wrong set up, the fishing seem to be fantastic.The tent spots have no power and water and the next morning as we were packing up to brought my husband a gift for his birthday. Here we are exactly 10 years later, we recently stayed overnight for our 29th year Wedding Anniversary at the Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast and it was an unforgettable experience! Weekend reservations usually have a two-night minimum requirement but was exempt on August 8th given that there was a Bridal Party staying for the entire weekend! We stayed in the Cape Cove Room, which is definitely on the cozier, smaller side, but beautifully appointed with historic charm, antique furniture, and a great view of the Cape Creek Bridge. It does feature a shared bathroom (standing tub only) but was an experience nonetheless! The hospitality was lovely. We did miss the "Wine & Cheese" social on the day of our arrival given that we visited friends in Brookings and took our time driving up the coast. Note to self: Make sure to arrive just in time for check- in so that you do not miss social afternoon which we heard from other guests was a wonderful way to learn about the history of the lightkeeper's cottage. We arrived just past 10pm, the parking was a bit tight for our truck (Tacoma) but the absolute highlight of the evening was taking a flashlight and walking up the path to sit right under the working lighthouse at night--watching the beams sweep across the dark ocean is something we will never forget (between 10:30p - 11:30p); Make sure to bring your own water, dinner or snacks since the inn is isolated, but they do have a great guest kitchen you can use. Unbeknownst to us, we were delighted with a 4-course breakfast the next morning. Every dish was uniquely prepared, family-style, using fresh herbs from their own garden. If you are looking for a unique, peaceful, and historic coastal getaway, we highly recommend booking a stay here!

It is a beautiful place to stay! Appearance - We stayed in the Queen Anne room, which we were told is the most romantic! Our bedroom did not have a bathroom, due to how old the place is. We did know this going in, but it was still worth it because the bathtub was wonderful and we were the only ones using it that night. Taste - The 7 course breakfast was everything you would hope and dream a 7 course breakfast would be and BETTER!! The staff knows what it means to be the living, breathing example of the BSA. The camp provides a wide array of merit badges from Climbing to Rifle Shooting to Space Exploration. The waterfront is always a splash to visit in the afternoon and learn how to boat in the lake. Camp-wide games are offered on Fridays to compete with other patrols around camp. The Dining Hall at mealtime always has food for every person. Allergy, intolerance, and religion are no match for the camp cook crew to make amazing meals for all ages to enjoy. In between meals and merit badges, the Trading Post has snacks for purchase and pretty good options. Summer camp has been proven that first-year scouts who attend, are 50% more likely to stay in scouts later on. Camp Baker is the best camp for first-year scouts or older scouts returning to Camp Baker again.
