I came in to meet with Daniel Christman to purchase an SR20 for our flight school at FXE (Berichi Aviation). Prebuy inspection was very smooth and demo flight was great. The MX staff at Epps is very professional and well equipped and well trained. They were expeditious throughout the inspection helpful. They explained everything to my director of maintenance. EPPS has a solid history in Atlanta and has been around for many years. The link they have to PDK is very strong. They house a large hangar that many private planes reside in. Cirrus and also Pilatus also has a service / sales center at Epps. They offer valet service to your car, though with their hangar, it's quite convenient. Can call ahead and have your jet ready for pick up or drop off, prior to departure. Reasonably price fuel if you have a tie down / hangar space contract with them. The staff is normally very helpful, with a few rare occasions. Side note, unique retro, nostalgic restrooms with art for sale of very cool planes. Cannot compare ATL to Epps as ATL versus PDK are quite different in amongst themselves. From private planes of both charter, and also small personal aircraft, not quite any comparison valid. No, I'm not blingged out enough to fly via private jet to Epps, but I was lucky enough to be a part of an event held here for two years. They use the hangar as an event space, and the beauty hanging out in a giant hangar isn't lost on this Yelper. The space is huge and feels like a 'loft plus.' You'll likely be surrounded by planes, too. Which is cool. Just remember to not break that propeller off, bro. It'll cost ya. read more

I have used Epps a couple of times with a piston single. They are the nicest full service facility with still reasonable prices at KPDK. When I stopped there after purchasing my plane in Las Vegas last Fall, their maintenance team checked out a quick minor squawk for me at no cost (decided to fix it at home as it would need a part to be repaired). The other day, I stopped at Epps. I called in the morning to ask for a small rental car. When I taxied in, I was marshalled to parking, while some other guy backed the rental car up to the plane, helped with bags, and advised that the contract was already printed up. I just needed to go inside and show my driver's license and credit card. Time from engine shutdown of the plane to driving off.... 4 minutes flat (and that included a bathroom stop). read more

I attended a black tie affair done up in the hangar on Saturday night and got to walk around and see all the planes. I was quite impressed, and found myself wishing that I could live the luxurious life and get a chartered flight... The bathrooms were in trailers, but it was the nicest trailer bathroom you've ever seen. Definitely worthy of a black tie dinner. I guess I have to give more credit to the decorators, but the building was impressive and easy to get to, so I'm assuming that would be the case if you were actually using it as an airport. read more

Absolutely the armpit of PDK. Landed to pick up a passenger. No lineman present, so I park myself. Just out of the plane when lineman 'Tom' comes roaring up, yelling at me saying that I cannot park in the open parking space I parked in. I told him I was picking up a passenger and that I would be gone momentarily. Looking down his nose at me, like I was some second rate bozo, he said I would 'have to move my plane right away' and 'pay a landing fee' to Epps. I told him I would be happy to move. He responded by barking at me that I 'would have to contact ground to get clearance to move'. At this point, I was done. I thanked him for being a jerk, reminded him that I was the pilot, not him, and promptly called the office from the ramp. I asked for the manager, was put on hold for 4-5 minutes, and finally spoke to 'Ryan'. Ryan seemed to echo the same level of unprofessionalism that I experienced with Tom. I hopped back in the plane, taxied over to Atlantic, and was met by a courteous lineman and competent staff inside. STAY FAR AWAY FROM EPPS! read more
