This place will actually have you seriously contemplating running off and joining the circus. It's SUCH a good time. Hard. Challenging for sure but ultimately one of the best times I've had in a long time. They have beginner classes they call Fundamentals- fundies! The fundie classes are exactly what they sound like. They give you a good foundation to build on. I will say this isn't a one and done type of activity, you will want to come back! I've tried Hammock, Lyra and Silks so far. It had the potential to be a great class, but the lack of attention to sanitation and customers was very disappointing. First of all, the silks smelled so bad, like sweat, and it was disgusting to use them. Second, there was a giant dead roach lying right next to the mat area and no one removed it during the class. Also, it was my first class, and almost the whole group were first-timers. I expected everyone to have their own spot with silks, but I had to share a spot with two more people. So for about 2/3 of the class I was just standing and waiting for others to take their turn. If I go to Pilates, I don't share a reformer with anyone - that should be the default. I'm pretty tall, and when I arrived, I randomly picked the silks without knowing they were different heights. But once we started doing exercises, I realized my head was bumping into the floor. I asked the instructor if the silks were different heights, and she said yes, then told me I could try to switch with someone from a different group if they were willing (but those groups were friends who came together). She didn't seem to care at all, in the beginning, she could have told me to choose a different height of silks since she saw I was tall. The nice part was the cute stickers everyone could choose after class, and the fact that they give you a list of the exercises you practiced so next time you can try something new. But overall, they really need to work on customer service and cleaning!! read more

Soo I did a thing lol but no seriously this was the most fun & challenging thing I've ever done lol I purchased a $30 drop in class for the aerial hammocks class and it was so amazing. My instructor name was Abby and she was so attentive, detailed, & fun! Outside of yoga Ive never bent my body like this before and it was great. It almost reminds me of doing yoga in the air. Definitely requires a lot I mean A LOT of upper body and core strength. But I'm here for it! If you're interested in trying something new that's challenging and fun for a good price. I definitely recommend purchasing a drop in class! I loved it so much I ended up purchasing a 4 pass class at the end of the night which came out to be $55 dollars so a total of $85 was spent! I started aerial yoga in September and I've been hooked since lol. I'm currently doing fundamental hammock but there's silks, trapeze, and other classes. Hammocks is a great workout and it's fun. It's a great opportunity to challenge yourself while doing hard things. I've been going almost once a week and can see the growth already. I've been going when NaNa teaches and I love her!! She motivates you and makes you feel comfortable even when you are attempting things but not quite mastering the move. I recommend trying it at least once! read more

This studio doesn't beginner classes in Lyra, Silks and Hoops... and a drop in class is $30! The teacher was very friendly & clearly an expert, so I felt very taken care of. I was super exited about trying this class with my friends who were visiting from Maryland. We walked in and immediately it smelled really bad. There wasn't any type of air flowing, it was extremely hot. The silks smelled horrible and so I asked Madison how often do they wash them, she replies "at least once a month." If you're tired of your regular workout routine and want to try something new that's challenging and fun... THIS IS IT! I grabbed a great deal on Groupon for a 4 week intro class. 1 hour/week for 4 weeks. The ladies in my class were so fun, some with experience and some with zero but everyone smiled, laughed and had a good time every class together. The instructor, Shauna, was fabulous! Patient, friendly, fun, lighthearted and so engaging! I can't tell you the number of times I tried to get into my basic foot lock wrapping the wrong way, but Shauna was always patient to see if I could correct and happy to help when I couldn't! Every week you build on from the previous week so it feels like you're mastering a little something every week. The best part of class, you ask?? The last 10 mins of class is open for pictures and videos so you can be as instagram worthy as you'd hoped you'd be! It's definitely a great way to build upper body strength! You would be shocked the workout you get for what feels like not doing much... and each week you'll wake up the next morning feeling muscles in your stomach and arms that you didn't even know you had! The best part?! At the end of your 4 week class sessions, they offer (or at least currently offer) 8 classes for $80 that can be used at your leisure for up to 6 months! read more

I absolutely love coming here. I started coming here in an intro format where I essentially took a one hour Lyra class once a week for 8 weeks. I really liked the format of the class and decided to jump right into fundamentals. I always feel at home here. It's an intense workout - especially compared to what I do at Orangetheory or my other classes. I look forward to my 1.5 hour fundamentals classes each week and I feel them for days later. I see improvements each week and the other folks in the classes are super supportive. read more

After attending 2 classes, I bought a 4 class pass in 2024. No mention of an expiration date. I get here for a class I registered for tonight and they will not honor the pass., stating my pass expired. I would not have purchased the pass had I known there was an expiration due to planned travel. They offered zero assistance. Just "Nothing we can do. You will have to pay again". $95 wasted and they have now lost any revenue from future bookings. I will not recommend this to anyone looking to try out a new workout / hobby option. A friend of mine told me about the fundamental/beginner courses here, so I opted to take a chance & find another outlet to engage in physical activity. I reserved my spot last week to attend the Monday, August 12 class at 545p. I arrived at 550p (hello Charlotte after work traffic), only to get turned away. I told her I was there to meet a friend, but she told me her class was full. I found that hard to believe because not only did I have a spot reserved, but I found out another girl that was to attend the class was late- so basically there were TWO open spots. I was trying to pull up my email to show my reservation, but couldn't connect to the internet, so I asked if they had a list of names for individuals that had reserved their spots. I was thinking I could show my ID as another way to prove I was to be in the class. I was told they don't have lists. She was super dismissive and short with me & honestly rude. She gave me the option to attend the 545p class on Tuesday, but in my mind, I'm thinking why would I do that when I have a spot FOR MONDAY. I left & by the time I got to my car, my friend (that was in her class) CALLED me to ask what was going on. So clearly the class hadn't even started if my friend could call me. Me and two friends signed up and attended the YelpFit event here on 8/27. It was so much fun! We got right into the studio and because we'd signed up ahead of time there was no wait to sign in and exchange info. We have done quite a few different workout classes and I would say we are on a journey towards fitness. That being said, I participated in one aerial silks class a while ago so I was pretty excited to give it another go. Our instructors were so much fun and really encouraged everyone to try something new. They were also really great at giving step by step instructions and demonstrated correct form. As far as the content of he beginners class there was something for everyone. We got to do a foot lock as well as spins and even a couple poses. I most enjoyed being upside down :) I would definitely come back and will tell all my friends about this fun activity! read more

Amazing experience today ! I decided to try a drop in course sat at 10am . It was a lot of fun . You start & end with stretching then you get into some basics & fundamentals. My instructor was Kristin & she was wonderful . She was patient , knowledgeable & very supportive. I was nervous at first but it quickly went away . I've been going here since January of this year and LOVE it! I've never been into sports and never worked out more than 2 or 3 days in my whole life before coming here. Aerial is something that I grew a fondness and undying love for many years back while I still lived in College. I actually taught at a Aerial studio while a undergrad student and though I was never formally taught, Lyra (Aerial Hoop) quickly became my favorite apparatus. Many years later and present day, I have relocated to Charlotte and lo and behold I found an Aerial Studio. A legit one, not one that hosts Aerial Yoga and a single hoop. (No offense) Walking into the huge studio, you can tell that they too truly love what they do and what they provide to the community. Its truly beautiful. Peek into their social media and you will see their passion and talents. They offer introductory classes, fundamentals, different intermediate levels and advanced options. They mean it when they say that "no pull up required". They will have you up in the air in no time at all and you don't need to be a trained Cirque superstar! Attended for the Yelp Fit Club event and had a great time! The colorful silks hanging from the ceiling make it an exciting place to walk into. The instructors are very welcoming and great at explaining what could seem intimidating at first. The class started very introductory with basic hangs and shoulder safety. By the end of the class, we were hanging sideways, and upside down! If you are looking for something new to try and willing to step out of your comfort zone, I definitely suggest giving it a try. In addition, I am not the most flexible or graceful person there ever was and I still had a great time. Fair warning! You are likely to be sore the next day! You are definitely using different muscles and the silks can leave some soreness as well, but don't let that stop you. read more

With the party package we got an hour worth of instruction/play time then 30 minutes of party time with champagne and treats they provided for us. And it was only $30 per person!! I really enjoyed my introductory class at AerialCLT. It's conveniently located in uptown Charlotte and the space inside is very spacious , and visually appealing. The instructor team was very friendly and supportive, making sure to give key information before we tried different poses with the 'silks'. As far as exercise is concerned , this is definitely something you can count as physical activity. After about 45 minutes of activity, I could feel a slightly warm (not a burn, but this was also my 1st class). I enjoyed this experience enough to buy a class pass and try some more Aerial yoga. This place is awesome! I attended my first aerial hoop class two Tuesdays ago and loved it! Class size was no more than 10, students were friendly and talkative, instructor Katie is super nice and helpful. Instruction is given in a mixed combination of individual and group lessons. She pinpoints what each student needs to work on to succeed and is encouraging. Exercise and stretching is emphasized both during the beginning and ending of class. This was me and my sister's first time attending an aerial class and it was a great experience. The atmosphere and environment was inviting. The host was pleasant with greeting us by our first name. When the class started the instructor showed us what to do first than we were able to do it. It's not as hard as it seems. However, it does take a lot of upper body strength. The downside to it the curtains were a little musty but I guess that comes with the territory of having a lot of classes. This studio seems to be geared towards entry level students; not a good place for advanced students or performers to train. I tried to drop in to keep up on my aerial skills while I'm away from home for the holidays and I was told I cannot do any intermediate classes or open gyms, even after completing the beginners aerial skills, because everything is 8 week classes. Only via private lessons for $75/hour. Too strict for my taste. Seems to be for profit and not for the love of the arts. read more

This place is wonderful. I only took few classes of AerialYoga so far but I am hooked. Both Katie S and Katie R were patient and helpful. They understood that I have a fear of being upside down and falling; they worked with me to combat those worries. And after couple of classes I am able to do upside down moves by myself and have gained trust in my own strength and the hammock. I also started Crossfit and do cycle as part of my workout regime and AerialYoga honestly helps me with those classes as well. I can't wait to see my progress and see what I am able to accomplish. This studio is absolutely amazing. The instructors are top notch and definitely know what they are doing. The environment they have created here is one of positivity and encouragement. Aerial CLT has three apparatus you can train on - silks, lyra, and trapeze. There are different levels to every class. The fundamentals class are typically where you start off and you learn all the basics. I have been going since August and have gained so much strength from doing the silks. I have NEVER been able to do a pull up before and now I can do like... 6! Major improvement if you ask me. If you are looking for a fun and new way to work out, then look no further! read more

I tried aerial silks using ClassPass, initially with AIR Aerial Fitness and then at AerialCLT. The studios are very different, AIR focusing more on fitness while doing tricks and continuously moving during the full hour. AIR uses a hammock (looped silk) and AerialCLT uses silks (separated silks). AerialCLT is more about the poses/moves and you work your way up to more difficult moves as you build strength and technique. I continue to go to both because I get different experiences. I am writing this review because I was very disappointed in my most recent experience. However, there are things I like about AerialCLT and want to highlight those as well. What I like: -Customized class that keeps track of your progress using individual tracking sheets. Helps the instructor see what you've done and what you haven't done. -It's challenging and there is good instruction to walk you through the moves while they stand by to guide you during your first go through. -Talented instructors who are highly skilled -Teach a variety of classes - lyra (hoop) and trapeze What I don't like: -Often times you are standing around waiting for the teacher to come by to show you the next move after you practiced your current move several times. Students of all levels attend and there are often three or four different moves going on simultaneously depending on the skill levels/experience showing up for that class. It's great that they are providing that type of instruction for your next move, but it takes a while for the instructor to come around. -Most recently had a negative experience with the instructor. She rudely snapped at me to STOP THE PEER COACHING! A student in our group asked me for help and as I was helping her, the instructor came over and snapped at me and did not apologize for the way she talked to me. In all my previous classes and in this particular class, she never once told me or us not to peer coach. If she had, I wouldn't have done it. If she had, we wouldn't have asked each other for help. I was not the only one peer coaching, we were all doing it to some degree because we DIDN'T KNOW it wasn't allowed! I witnessed peer coaching happening in my first intro class within my group. We all helped each other and thought it was OK to do it. I am all about helping people in everything I do - it is a natural inclination. If you do not want me to do something, simply tell me in a CALM manner, do NOT snap at me. If I know we shouldn't do something, I won't do it. I go to AerialCLT and fitness classes to have fun and get away from the daily stresses of life, not to have my teacher speak rudely to me!! As I tell my kids, you should never need to snap or yell at anyone when you communicate. I get that it is coming down to safety, but again, speak CALMLY and tell us the "rules" and we'll follow it. I take a lot of different fitness classes and I have never been spoken to like that by the trainers or teachers...NEVER. Probably because it's a poor way to communicate, and oh yeah, I'm a customer that is there to learn and have a positive experience. I once shuffled on the treadmill sideways at OTF to work the sides of my legs and the coach simply came over and said "totally understand why you're doing it, but for liability purposes, we can't allow that." Never did it again and never had any issues with her because she was cool about the way she discussed it with me and I understood. My friend stated she would gladly take the instructor's help, but she's so busy with others, and she can only hold a move for so long or wait so long. She also did not like how the instructor made things feel very awkward and made the group feel hesitant the rest of the class - completely agree. After she snapped, our group was worried about doing anything in fear of the possible wrath to come, which is so ridiculous! Whoever was up doing the move would start asking for help and quickly stop talking, realizing we are not allowed to coach each other. At the end of the night, The instructor snapped again to GET DOWN NOW because one of the students in our group climbed up to get a last picture, but we were about to cool down - even though she said it was OK for another student to take her picture. Again, be professional and be kind! Just really bizarre. It was all very strange because I never saw this particular teacher exhibit that type of behavior in the previous classes I attended. Maybe she had a bad day or that is the way she typically communicates if she disagrees with something, but you know what, I had a bad day at work and went to AerialCLT to turn my day around...unfortunately it wasn't the case! Despite the negative energy we experienced in this particular class, overall it's still a good class/studio that is challenging and different from the usual HIIT and yoga classes we typically attend. I would attend again, but may be more selective with my instructors. Know before you go, no "peer coaching" allowed or you will feel the wrath :P read more
