What a wonderful day hiking up to Exit Glacier in the Kenai Fjords National Park. Mary our Hiking guide did an awesome job explaining the history of the glacier and the rain forest. I highly recommend Adventure 60 North on your next trip to Seward Alaska

Excellent time with our guides, Alex and Jordan. Very friendly and helpful! They answered all of our questions we had and had great convos about everything! We had a party of 8 with the tandem kayaking. They took us on the four hour one with a hike at the halfway point with great views and hot coco and snacks! Definitely will be back! :)

In the interest of full disclosure: - I am friends with one of the guides here, she was one of two guides on our kayak outing. However, I paid the normal costs/fees to kayak with these folks; I didn't get any sort of special deal or handout. And it was a mixed group; I didn't know many of the other customers that went out with us. Now that that's out of the way... This service was awesome! I'm what you might call "super outdoorsy" but what you might also call a "land lubber". I like to hike the trails, camp the meadows, climb the rock, glissade the snow, and rappel the ice. BUT. I've never done any sort of "water stuff" before. So I needed a guide. Our guides took us out for a half-day that started late in the evening (brunch start!) on one of those delightful, long, bright, Alaska summer nights. We went up Resurrection Bay for a bit, got out, had some hot beverages, got back in, and paddled back. We saw some friendly sea otters and exchanged some great jokes and conversation. It was a solid group. Even though we didn't' have the best weather, I loved it! Now that my kayak cherry has been popped, I'm seriously considering PURCHASING a sea kayak! What is happening to me?

We had a small group that was trying to plan a 5-day trip out in Kenai Fjords National Park and Adventure Sixty North helped us plan the best possible trip possible. They were very knowledgable on the area and helped us plan the entire trip, as well as gave us advice on what activities to do and places to stay at. Since we went on an unguided trip their expertise was invaluable and made the trip a success. Additionally, all of the gear we needed was in great working condition and we had no issues with it. Very thankful to Rick and his staff for making our trip a once in a lifetime adventure and highly recommend anyone thinking of visiting the area to go with Adventure Sixty!

Me and my fiancé did the Aialak Glacier kayak trip and it was amazing. The day started off with Wrenna, one of the tour guides, offering her personal down jacket to my fiancé so she wouldn't be cool and than we were off on the water taxi. Jay and Wrenna were both extremely welcoming and helpful and gave us homemade bread putting on the boat -- amazing. On the way we ran into a pod of orcas, hump back whales, a mountain goat and it's baby, and bald eagles. When we were dropped off at the launch site there was a huge black bear about 300 ft away!!! We then unloaded the kayaks and went off around the island and then to the glacier. Both Wrenna and Jay were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and the best part was they didn't talk incessantly like other tour guides we've had. We than had an awesome lunch in front of the glacier and witnessed numerous calvings and harbor seals. On the way back Jay gave us homemade smoked sockeye salmon -- he caught and smoked it himself. We once again ran into more humpback whales and a TON of bald eagles. Overall the trip was amazing and well worth the money. Both of our guides went above and beyond and I can't recommend them enough. Oh did I mention that we were the only people on the tour? That is a one to one ratio.

    View from the kayak!

I did a kayaking excursion at Resurrection Bay, and it was breathtaking! We saw some bald eagles and seals. Our tour guide Rich was fantastic: knowledgeable, patient, and an all around delight. As he pointed out wildlife and plants, he told us different facts about them, the area, and it's history. Highly recommend for an afternoon activity!

Wow--imagine kayaking through sideways snowfall, taking in eagles, sea lions, waterfowl, and snowy coastline. What an amazing adventure we had! I was lucky enough to pick up a brochure of Adventure Sixty North when I was staying at the Van Gilder Hotel earlier this season. The fact that they did year-round tours and adventures caught my eye. When I had the opportunity to come to Seward this winter, I called Adventure Sixty North and was so excited to see that they run a whole bunch of tours! They are the only tour operator in town during the winter which is so nice. They included a Winter Kayaking Tour through Tonsina Point or Caines Head, Exit Glacier Snowshoe Hike, Ice Fishing and Gold Panning. We opted for the kayaking tour to Tonsina Point and were not disappointed. Rick was our driver and coordinator and was awesome, kind and helpful. He went out of his way to take pix of us with a sea lion in the background, made sure we didn't slip on the ice, checked the weather forecast for our drive to Anchorage, and helped us to find a hotel room (Seward Resort) when the roads were going to be too snowy to drive safely in the dark. Sunny, our guide, was energetic, enthusiastic and informative of the ecosystem of Resurrection Bay, Alaska, Seward in general and anything else. Our kayak trip was destined to be pretty and peaceful--as soon as we pushed off, it started to snow hard. Sunny explained that kayaking in the ocean is awesome because when the snowflakes hit the water, they don't make a sound. And she was right. It was a rare and special experience to kayak in such snowfall--we were completely dry as we had the right gear on. The snow on the trees was so pretty. They made sure that we were completely outfitted--from giving us boots to handwarmers to rain pants to gloves. Because the tide was so high we were able to kayak through Tonsina Point through a creek (I think Tonsina Creek?) that normally is impassable. The creek was gorgeous as it was narrow and had a nice bridge that we kayaked under. On the way we saw a lovely bald eagle and a sea lion...the sea lion was an exceptionally cool experience as he kept popping up out of the water, snorting loudly and gazing at us curiously. It was the coolest experience! On top of that, the whole Adventure Sixty North crew went out of their way to be thoughtful--from making sure we had hand warmers, to providing us with boots, rain pants and gloves, to giving us 2 cups of hot chocolate, to taking our pix, to offer a hand while we were walking on the ice back to the van, cranking the heat in the van post-kayaking (surprising how cold you can get after being out in the winter for a few hours!) and being super patient through as many pix we wanted to take and how many breaks we needed (kayaking through Resurrection Bay was surprising tough due to the ebbs and flows of the tides!). We had such a great experience that we decided to go on the Exit Glacier winter hike with Rick and Sunny the next day!

Our tour guides, Rachel & Scott!!

Our tour guides were Rachel & Scott! They were so awesome! Very knowledgeable about the science of glaciers and sea mammals. We learned a lot! Our water taxi captain on the Weather Or Not was very skilled in sailing the boat through extremely choppy waters with swells of up to 10ft! She also has a great eye for spotting wildlife! On the water taxi out to Aialak Bay, we saw a bear swimming in the ocean to cross to an island. We saw puffins, sea lions, harbor seals, a humpback whale, mountain goats on the cliffs, and a pod of orcas!! The sea kayaking was a different experience having to paddle through big chunks of ice, but was very cool!

The tour guides are perhaps the biggest factor that is in control by the company. The wildlife viewing and glacier kayaking experience is also dependent on how lucky nature views you. This of course is not this fault of the company, but may impact experience. With that long statement out of the way, let's talk about what happened during my excursion. To start, they go over the typical safety protocols to mitigate chances of issues that would occur. Then you embark on a roughly two hour ride to the kayaking destination. From there, you kayak about 4 miles to the glacier. It's just beautiful to enjoy the Alaskan waterfalls and viewpoints before arriving at the glacier. But once there, you're hit with the majestic beauty of the glacier. Due to safety reasons, we paddle until about 1 mile from the glacier, but it's big enough to be seen from a good ways away. If you're lucky you can see some ice calving. Then you enjoy some lunch from a spot near the glacier before embarking home. Along the way there and way back. The group was also fortunate to see some amazing wildlife! From porpoises to orcas, to whales, it was just a stroke of good luck! If you're in Seward, heck even Alaska, it is definitely worth taking this kayaking tour!

I highly recommend trying it out, even if you're new to kayaking. They were very prepared, and we felt safe, on top of fact that the kayaks were really hard to flip. The spawning was one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever watched. Thousands of salmon making their way upstream in all different stages of life. Incredible. The kayaks were in great condition and we appreciated being taught how to use the kayak skirts because we come from warm water area where skirts aren't used. We weren't having much luck with what was rigged up but we also didn't fish for that long. Still would have been nice to have our own lures to use because their lures seemed too big for the fish in the cove. Tons of fish, not a single bite. I don't think the hosts are that big on fishing. Always good to do your own research if you wanna catch something. We never had to write any review about our traveling that involved trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting organized by local or non local outdoor agencies. Our kayaking experience with Ron at his camp located in Bear Glacier State Park had to be "shared" so people will know what to expect from him: - no sense of welcoming when we met him in Seward - no warning that access to his camp depends on weather condition and TIDES (therefore trip can be cancelled or rescheduled) - camp had just been put together due late snow on camp but tools/gear/equipment was spread everywhere around camp - little respect for the environment: NO portable toilet or form of toilet and put "grass" on fire when he started a charcoal bbq without digging a hole in the ground (assuming that it was humid enough since snow was present until a fe days ago) - Trash left around with black and coastal bears present in the area - cots in Weather ports were not put together (which is fine with us) but he would leave us put them together (since it was complicated :)) and another person had to beg to get his one put together - Unsocial: Ron's subject of conversation were focused on his own life - not even interested about others interests and conversations - Not Respectful of his clients - he made very comments regarding one of the clients just before we jumped on the boat back to Seward - client's space: on last night I had to ask him to speak away from our tent so we would not hear his late ongoing loud satellite conversation(s) - NO form of daily schedule at camp - and when one was vaguely mentioned it was not followed which made us wait or did not know how to organize our time in between waiting or kayaking - Food: Ron looks very unhealthy and cook/prepare unhealthy food - (for 1st breakfast - nothing was available at 9:30am so the 5 of us (1 couple/ 1 single) started to help ourselves which made him unhappy! - 2nd and last breakfast was only ready by 10:00am. Diner by 10:00pm if lucky) - Ron did not give us the impression to have ideas about distances + time related to the speed of kayak boats (single and double) - 2 out 5 persons had specifically asked for single kayaks - but only 1 person had it - the 2nd person had to kayak in a double & in order to get the "missing" single kayak a whole morning had to be spent pulling it from dropping place - since we were running late to paddle around the island where camp is located we carried Ron's single kayak to "help" him as he was busy pulling the single - no appreciation of any sort were expressed from him (not that we help others to get that but you would guess it is part of being an outdoor guide and a human being) - Unorganized: he did not give us details of how we would get to our following activity, Bear watching (not run by him!) - we had to find out that after 1 taxi + 2 shuttles rides, a lunch somewhere + a flight that we would then arrive at bear camp - but until we figured it out we felt unrelaxed. only because we did not trust him anymore after the camp experience we had.
