Their advertisements that they send in the mail are very misleading and predatory. I called to inquire. The woman on the phone suggested I refinance my current mortgage at 2.125% with only 10 years left to a 30 year mortgage at 4.75% with an APR of 5.9% and take cash out that I don't need or want. Closing costs would be about $30,000. This is the definition of predatory lending. There are federal laws that state a Net Tangible Benefit must exist to refinance. No benefit exists but this company doesn't care about the law. read more

Kurt I left a message for you because I have respect your very thought replies per comments. But you were busy. Again, I dismissed your first loan orignator Tyler Johnson and chalked it up to ok when things change for me I will reached back out to Advantage First. But 2 days later when Justine Fees reached out to me and started reeling me in. She said Tyler had made some mistakes and she could get me the refi. She even quoted me with a 4.75 interest rate. I shared with her present interest rate was at 2.75 she stated she would need to do a hard credit pull. I shared with her only if she knows this would work based on what Tyler shared with me. I was really concerned. She requested for 24 hrs wich turned into 2 weeks. I'm ok with not getting approved for the refi. But I'm not ok with the way your employees conduct business and you shouldn't be either. Joe your manager shared with me that he spoke with them but after reading more testimonials it seems as this way of obtaining business is allowed by Advantage First. The only reason I wrote the original review was to warn future clients. I never stronged armed any of your employees about if you don't get me the refi I'm going to write a bad review. If you check my Yelp reviews on past business reviews you will see 98% of them are great reviews. So again, in hour lesson learn meetings with your team. Truly teach them to always be truth to the client. If they cannot obtain what the client is trying to achieve. Just don't leave them hanging. I do not do business with this company. I have been receiving their advertising mail since I just purchased my house. I didn't like it but I tolerated until today I found another home owner's offer latter was also included in the advertisement mailed to me. The letter included that homeowner's name, address, mortgage amount and monthly payment, etc. This is so unprofessional and says a lot about this company. This could happen to any homeowners, our personal information could be got exposed by this company this easy. read more

I received a letter in the mail from AdvantageFirst Lending Inc and decided to just call them to see what they had to say. Ironically I was looking to refinance. The representative that I got was Luc. He was entebbe helpful and efficient. He got me started and in less then 30 minutes I had forwarded all documents over to him and was ready for the next step which was getting an appraisal done on my home. That happened the very next day. They are so fast and easy. My next representative from them was Veronica. She was my loan officer. She was helpful just like Luc and very nice to work with. I loved how we were all able to communicate via text which is my preference. My process took about 2 weeks total. I got a letter in my mailbox with the heading of my mortgage company saying I have unclaimed escrow funds and to call their number so I use my app to call my mortgage company they don't know anything about it. The company very much comes across as a scam. I did some research and yup, these guys are EXTREMELY shady. We received a letter posing as United Wholesale Mortgage, our actual mortgage company, with an opportunity to lower our monthly payments and deferring up to two months of payments. Whether the offer is legitimate or not is irrelevant. They are actively trying to manipulate people into thinking this is an offer from their current provider. Shame on anyone associated with AdvantageFirst Lending for being such awful marketers. You are truly scummy people. I hope more people expose you for running such shady business practices. This is the 2nd time we've worked with advantage first. The first time working with them we didn't have the greatest experience. Eric was great, however once his part of the loan was done and we needed to proceed to the next step, we did NOT have a great experience. There was horrible communication with this 2nd person. She advised us to do things that were still necessary for the loan, once done she advised us we actually did not have to do it. I was very upset, having to take time away from work to get these things done when it wasn't necessary. We closed the loan very unhappy with the service we had. When Eric contacted us this time around to let us know of the new rates being offered my husband and I were very skeptical. The rates sounded great, however we did not want to go through what we went through the first time. We explained to Eric what happened, he was very apologetic and assured us that we would be taken care of. We had a lot more questions this time around and Eric patiently answered all of them. He helped us get a great rate along with some credit on our closing costs. Once we were passed along to the next step, he continued to make sure we were still being taken care of. I was so impressed with Michael Moreno and Maria Sandoval...I don't know even know where to start. I have been a mortgage loan officer for about 5 years and don't like to mix personal and professional lives together so went outside of my company and used Kurt for my purchase loan. All that I can say is that I have never experienced a better level of service than what I experienced with Kurt and Advantage First Lending. The home builder dropped the ball and instead of putting my concerns first, I allowed the builder to lead which almost caused a delay in closing. That delay would have amounted to $500/day. When all was said and done though, Kurt somehow got the loan closed on time. I saw a banner ad on the Internet from Lending Tree online and filled out the form, which stated it was going out to numerous brokerage companies for quotes. I used my cell phone, which I never answer, but I was curious to see if anyone could help me refinance my home after trying for years with no luck. Only one person sent me a text early that morning, and I began texting back and forth because he was very quick to respond and offered very positive answers. I thought I'd take a chance and we spoke on the phone. His name is Kory and he was amazing. Every other company I spoke with since the market crashed was so pushy. Kory was professional, intelligent, and he knew exactly what he was doing. I explained the problems and complications of my current situation, and instead of putting me off, he said he loved a challenge. That was awesome to hear and I had hope I might be able to get out of my variable first mortgage of 15 years and fixed second mortgage of 8.575%, which was killing me financially. It turned out that I actually qualified to use my VA loan that I never used to purchase my home with initially because they had lower limits on coverage 15 years ago. I was so excited to use my VA loan and it worked so well with my current situation. It took about 6 weeks to get everything done and my loan was just funded May 16th. I no longer have to worry about a second mortgage and I got money out to pay off all my credit card debt, which was more of a relief than I can explain. My fixed rate of 4% is awesome! Kory, the Senior Mortgage Loan Originator, and Justin, the Vice President, were my saving Grace! The Processing Manager, Laura, was so helpful. The Escrow Officer was fantastic. This is a company that's "all together" and they are with you every step of the way. This wasn't just a loan, it was a life-saving experience for my future that helped save my home and improved my quality of life. Frankly this review is way overdue and unlike my "normal" review here on yelp it's highly congratulatory and positive. I had reached out to Sean last year and finally completed a re-fi with him and AvantageFirst Lending this year. Originally I was shopping around for a quote in order to eliminate PMI and this is where Sean really showed me how reputable he and the company worked. At the time last year the rate wasn't as discounted as much as this year, Sean looked at my situation and my goal (remove PMI) he suggested reaching out directly to the existing mortgage holder and see if they would work with me to remove the PMI. I did but unfortunately they weren't as agreeable. Fast forward about 6-8 months and I re-connected with Sean. He again worked diligently and professionally to earn my business (he had me at hello :) ). Seriously both he and the company hit every expectation and milestone, even working above expectation to get my loan into the pipeline before the government imposed some sort of additional fee due to the rush of refi requests. He and Jessica Vique, Sr. Processor, maintained consistent and weekly updates on loan progress. They were readily available for any/all questions prior, during and post loan approval. We are really disappointed with advice received from advantage 1st. We contacted advantage 1st looking for an investment property after asking if there was a way we could put down 5% on a home we were told that was ok. After we were advised to refinance  current property "which was not a priority as we told loan officers" We were now denied getting a property for 5% down because of the refinance that was done at the time. This caused us to almost lose a home and also lose earnest money plus time wasted  with advantage 1st.   After chatting with another lender advantage1st was offering not so good rate and didn't give good advice after buying rate down. read more

Just talked with a very pushy and arrogant man. I received advertising in mail and contacted (based off reviews). Just wanted to run my credit without answering some basic questions. Cut me off when I would talk and kept telling me he could not give me an outline of what I need to receive interest rate advertised. I have my mortgage with WellsFargo and have refinanced once. Questions I had asked would not of been a problem with WellsFargo and they would have given the requirements needed to qualify for rates without asking. I'm not a person to leave bad reviews (as I work in sales) but to be treated as a child, when you are considering doing business for your home mortgage is insane! Waste of time. read more

I threw up the Bat signal for help on a refi after I suspected I was being tricked by shady a mortgage company and (on the advice of a friend) Kurt swooped in to review their bid (not looking for anything from me...he would've been fine just reviewing) and showed me all the places they were hiding things from me and what the potential damage of the deal on the table would be. He listened to what I was trying to achieve with my refi (get out of an FHA loan and build up my reserve a bit) and came up with a WAY better deal. I think a lot of people in this business forget that their customers deal with something like this a couple times in their entire life and it's INSANELY confusing. Not Kurt...he gets it. He spent a ton of time answering the millions of questions I had and made me absolutely confident and comfortable with the gigantic, life-changing deal I was going to sign. At least give him a call before you sign something. You might already have a good deal from somewhere else and, if that's the case, at least you'll get a little boost in confidence that you're doing the right thing. If not, maybe he can save you a bunch of money (like he did for me). Either way, he's not going to push you and try and scare you to "LOCK NOW OR THE WORLD WILL END" like other guys I called. read more
