He took the time to explain everything in clear detail, made sure I understood my treatment options, and answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed. What really stood out to me was how much he truly seems to enjoy and love what he does. That level of passion and dedication shows in the way he treats his patients and the quality of care he provides. Office staff act like they hate their jobs. They make a point of not making eye contact when what is at the desk. They give absolutely minimal instructions for anything. We are patients we don't know YOUR routine. PLEASE AND THANK YOU ARE WORDS THAT WILL NEVER BE HEARD THERE. WHAT YOU WILL HEAR IS "HERE DO THIS! OR, " PUT THIS ON!" I went to Advanced Urology Institute's office in Westchase. Was told I had a slightly elevated PSA (5.88), and I should have a prostate biopsy. I was given a piece of paper before the biopsy appointment with what to expect, no conversation about expectations. The biopsy was done in the doctor's office with NO SEDATION. Sedation was never offered or discussed, nor was it discussed whether the prostate tissue samples were going to be obtained through my abdomen or through my rectum. Never having had a prostate biopsy before, I was surprised to find out that day it was through my rectum. That was not made clear on the piece of paper I had been given. I had minimal bleeding out my urethra for the first two days, but on the third day I began urinating bright red blood. This was a Saturday, and the paper they gave me before the procedure said "if bleeding continues after 48 hours, let us know". Well, very hard to let them know when the practice has NO emergency after hours answering service, just a recording that says "go to the ER or call 911". How can a medical practice that does invasive procedures in the doctor's office, NOT have a doctor on call after hours? So I went to St Joseph's Hospital North emergency room where I was told that typically a patient might experience bleeding from the urethra for two weeks after a prostate biopsy, and I did not need to be concerned unless there were blood clots. At that point I started straining my urine and saw that I was passing blood clots, and I could feel them passing. I was leaking blood even when not urinating, and at one point had to change my adult diaper three times in one hour. The clots were getting bigger and bigger until finally they blocked the passage and I could no longer urinate. This was during business hours on the 6th day after my biopsy and I was able to be seen by a different urologist at AUI's Westchase office. It took three attempts to install a catheter and I was warned about having very painful bladder spasms, which started immediately while I was still in the office. The next day, the bladder spasms were pushing out blood and blood clots AROUND THE CATHETER. Now I know what childbirth must feel like...The pain was excruciating and eventually was continual, resulting in my second trip to the hospital at 6:30 in the morning on a Thursday (the 8th day after the biopsy). I was admitted and about noon I had emergency surgery (by the hospital's urology team, not AUI doctors) to evacuate massive blood clots in my bladder and to cauterize a tear in my prostate. It was a nightmare experience and I will never go back to anyone associated with Advanced Urology Institute, and certainly cannot recommend them to anyone. read more

Dr. Szell herself is very nice but her scheduler is very rude, she has no customer service skills and no compassion. she is also very short with patient. The call center is horrible, you can't call and speak with the office directly. it sounds like it's in another country. read more

Where is this call center located? Honestly sounds like a foreign country. A million different office numbers all lead to same call center. Awful customer service. I would never consider being a patient here after the experience of trying to schedule. Unfortunate because there are probably some great doctors here. read more

I went to this office to see Dr. Szell and they scheduled me for a ultrasound but then the day of the appointment I was almost there and they called to cancel it no notice whatsoever I had already done most of the driving then they wanted to reschedule me somewhere an hour and a half away and I said that was too far of a drive and to find me somewhere closer and they never called me back. This location is on the east side of US Hwy 19 N just south of Alderman Rd. in Palm Harbor. These offices were formerly know as the Urology Specialists of West Florida. Like a lot of medical specialists these days, Advanced Urology Institute is a group of urologists that share offices and staff. They specialize in prostate cancer treatment, bladder problems, kidney stones and general urology issues. Their offices are nicely upscale. On my visit, their waiting room was quite crowded. My former urologist had retired so I was here to get established with a new doctor. I was seen by Dr. Raval and I couldn't be more pleased. He was pleasant and very knowledgeable. Despite the overcrowded waiting room, I was called back to the examining room right at my appointment time. I was amazed! Overall, I had an excellent experience. read more

Advanced Urology Institute - Urologists Near Me - Palm Harbor, Florida

I saw Dr Syed and needed a procedure which took 3 mos to schedule. The day before the procedure they cancelled my appt, rescheduled then call the next day and cancelled that appt. I went today and waited an hour so went to the front desk to find out why I hadn't been seen. The receptionist was clueless. She then looked around and saw my paperwork with the scheduler. She went over and was whispering to her. By this time I was beginning to get annoyed. Note, this is after I paid my several hundred dollars in out of pocket cost. They then said I needed to reschedule. I asked why, they sad I could talk to the tech.i went back and she said that she could complete the procedure but the doctor needed to be there. She said he is only there on Tuesday's. I asked why I was scheduled then. She said the scheduler didn't realize this. She was not apologetic and could care less I was inconvenienced. She sent me back out to talk to the front desk. I told her I didn't want to reschedule and would be looking for a new doctor. I told I wanted a refund for the charge. She refunded my money. This is a very poorly managed office. While waiting the hour numerous patients had issues from payment to blood test etc. please be warned do not use this practice. read more

Definitely 0 star if I could make 0 Men Beware Found Dr Richman of Advanced Urology in 2021 with difficulty urinating and Prostate issues. Advanced Urology and Dr Richman were more concerned about selling me a snake oil procedure than actually helping, the Rezum water treatment therapy. I was sold on the fact it would help. Stating it was the next best thing. It is not. As I came to the office procedure he was irritated, in a hurry for the staff to go home because the Urology Surgery center only allows a small window of time to do a procedure before charging more money causing the doctor to rush the procedure. I was not informed I needed a ride and he would not preform the procedure until my ride arrived. Allowing for the numbness to wear off leaving me screaming in excruciating pain during the entire procedure Rezum water vapor therapy. . Now I have worse symptoms of bph and have side effects because of the Rezum treatment and he would not follow up with me after this experience. Because after I had asked how much out the door it cost. I paid what I was told my part would be. Months later when I had an appointment, they would not see me because they were charging me more causing me to lose additional follow up care. Now after losing my insurance, I am left suffering the after effects with no one who will take the responsibility of a faulty procedure. . It has left me now with a damaged prostate, damaged my testicle operation, painful and difficulty urinating, worse symptoms than when I had previously come in for. As well as Suffering from long term side effects from prescription medication. . I would never, ever refer anyone to Dr Richman or Advanced Urology unless they would like to be treated as a transaction, not a patient. Our Medical System is Flawed and Patients do not matter at Advanced Urology. Profiting off of human guinea pigs is the goal leaving you robbed, maimed, disserviced and damaged for life with no remorse or reimbursement, unless you pay more money for the service rendered leaving me damaged .. on to the next victim, in your revolving transactional service. A Dr. in the Trinity Duck Slough office ordered a CT Urogram to check for hematuria. I had told him, and it's in my file, that my condition was first discovered when I was 18 years of age. I'm presently 69 years old and quite healthy, but for the microscopic traces of blood in my urine which have always appeared on tests since I was 18. I am not a fan of being exposed to unnecessary doses of radiation, and much less for the purpose of padding the bill. This past Saturday I received a letter from that office "warning about the dangers" and that I should set-up an appointment immediately. The typical scare tactic of like-minded offices. On the bright side, the Dr. did prescribe Cialis which has worked fine and was my sole concern and reason for the initial visit. read more

Horrible. Dr. Zachary didn't know what gout was. Dr. Klein wanted to immediately biopsy me with a slight increase in my PSA instead of taking a conservative approach. I guess he needed the money. PLUS he missed a lump in my prostate. I tried to make an appointment with Chad Hubsher. But when I spoke with Mike the practice manger Dr. Hubsher didn't want to see me for fear of upsetting his incompetent partners. Save yourself from incompetence doctors and an unnecessary biopsies and go somewhere else. read more

Three time at the end of the day prior to my procedure the office called telling me that they had not received authorization from the insurance company and would have to reschedule. This was after waiting weeks, over a month in one case. I found that they had never placed the request with the primary care physician. Several notices are sent out reminding you of your appointment but the office doesn't check to verify everything is in place until the end of the day before the procedure. You have no way to know that there is a problem. Incompetence and uncaring are the two words that come to mind. read more

Worst office ever to deal with. Office staff is rude Mary leading that pack. Went in for self cash pay in a pre quoted visit. Quoted 3 times now with in office request and over the phone. Day of appointment office staff was rude and scattered. Did the visit which was under 5 mins, I had brought pages of results from other doctors and they just blew it off. Spent 5 mins with me then said we'll come back in a month. No services were done other then urinalysis and bladder check which was quoted. I didn't get the results from either test. They tried to schedule another regular office visit with no answers to why. Week later received another bill as they said my insurance denied the claim. What insurance, this was cash pay. Office staff says this was all included, billing days I owe or they out into claims. This is a scam for this office as I paid cash for the services rendered without any insurance but they claim my insurance denied the work and are trying to charge me read more

Excellent office - every person in the staff was warm, caring, efficient and professional. Dr Hale took his time to explain what my issue was and what my options were, including any future options. Plus they do their best not to keep you waiting (unlike a lot of offices I've been to the last few years). I needed an unexpected test and they worked me in rather than ask me to come back.
