Tuesday Allison and her crew did an outstanding job! All contracted work performed to our satisfaction and at agreed price!

Unfortunately for me my neighbor's use Advanced Tree Care. They have some large trees that have grown over my property so when the people from Advanced Tree Care came to chop down some limbs they just went into my backyard without ringing the doorbell or anything. This really made me mad as I occasionally take care of my brother's German Shepherd who he paid a lot of money for and if he got out and was hit by a car it would be a very tragic situation for all concerned. It came to my attention when I heard voices and saw rope lines in my back yard. When I confronted the workmen they did not seem to mind at all. In the spirit of being a 'good neighbor I let them complete their work as with my luck one of the branches they cut would have fallen on the new fence and I did not want to go through that again. They did leave a trail of debris, rubbish and personal trash that remained after they left. I contacted the owner Robert Wheatherill and told him of the problems his workmen could have caused by going into my back yard without ringing the door bell and getting permission first. He appeared to be very caviler about my concerns. Maybe if I had called the Police for his workmen were trespassing on my property without my permission he might have been singing a different tune. I would not recommend Advanced Tree Care at all. read more

This company was hired by our HOA to trim our trees for our condo complex. The company was trimming our mature tree which contained a large heron nest with eggs. These herons have been nesting for the past month. The nest was about 2ft by 2ft in size. Yet the tree trimmer cut the branch down and killed the nest and eggs. Researching online is a clear violation of federal law. What is even more upsetting is how can a company which specializes in tree trimming just destroy a birds nest without any hesitation and ignore federal law? read more

Excellent removal of a dead plum tree whose branches were entwined with the lower utility wires over our back neighbor's yard. A nimble member of the crew climbed another tree, and, using all safety precautions, managed to extricate the dead branches without harming the wires or himself. The tree stump removal went well and no debris was left on either our neighbor's or our yard. We had communicated with our backyard neighbors ahead of time, so there were no surprises on their side. This is the second time we have used this company and we were very pleased both times. read more

I contacted Rob based on his reviews here on Yelp. Back in May he thinned out two oaks and a redwood, and removed deadwood off a 80 foot+ redwood. I was satisfied with his work, so last month I asked him to come back and remove three Eucalyptus trees, the work was done quickly and professionally. Overall Rob and his crew are honest, punctual, responsive, and competitively priced. Highly recommended. read more

We are very, very pleased with Robert and Advanced Tree Care. What impressed me was the professional approach and honest assessment. We got another estimate from an arborist, also certified, but we were amazed at his very high fees and seemingly less than knowledgeable expertise. I know something about trees. Called Advanced to get another quote to see if we were unrealistic. Not only was Roberts estimate less, he advised me not to reduce the height of my very large Anjou Pear tree as it would expose the tree to too much sun and possibly damage it. He wasn't looking to just make money. He was giving me important, caring advice for my trees. His crew is very knowledgeable and professional as well. I would --and possibly will--use them again. read more

I have two 75 year old olive trees. Robert came out 3 times to discuss the best care and trimming for my trees. Then his crew of 4 spent more than half a day trimming and pruning, then cleaning up thoroughly. The cost was fair and I am extremely happy with the results. read more

Very helpful quote/assessment. What was thought to be a result of disease or pest, he assured us that it was healthy and normal for some branches to die off (cypress). Recommended pruning, watering guidelines, and offer of deep fertilizing. Experienced and helpful. Quote for pruning was competitive, if not a value. Quotation and workmen were all punctual--though I had to schedule some work out a few weeks due to their queue. Was not urgent and all worked out well. I'll report back later if the deep fertilization made an improvement. read more

Five stars say it all! Rob is great and gives great advice! My trees and yard look awesome, thanks to his expertise. His crew is very polite and knowledgeable. They showed up on time, did exactly what Rob and I went over and cleaned up great! It was like they were never there except for leaving my trees looking better than ever. Very happy and highly recommend them. read more

Rob at Advanced Tree Care has been amazing to work with. We needed information from a certified arborist. I believe he provided us with a professional and honest assessment. He stated our tree was perfectly healthy and did not need trimming (this is a company that provides these services), unless we wanted to shape it a bit. No pressure at all for the extra business. Rob was also available to answer some questions about our big redwood at no extra charge. read more

When we moved here 10 years ago we had a company come to prune all of our trees ~ they hacked branches off with no regard to the health or the beauty of the trees, and it took years for them to recover. So, I'm very protective of my trees and who prunes them. I am incredibly impressed with the job the Advanced Tree Care did last week. They removed all the dead wood from my trees, then strategically pruned and shaped them. They all look like they got haircuts at very expensive salons! I was shocked when I saw how much the guys were taking off each tree (based on what was on the ground) but when I stepped back and looked it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing for the long term health and beauty of each type of tree. I am so pleased and highly recommend them and look forward to having them back out in a few years for another round of haircuts! read more

Great job. Extensive, delicate work removing deadwood on a 50+ ft. Douglas Fir and thinning a 30 ft. Redwood. Robert and team are professional and service oriented. Commmunications were good. Arrived on schedule and completed work in 2 days as estimated. Trees cannot be accessed by heavy equipment, are close to home, and overhang solar panels, but work was done carefully and without incident and end product looks great. read more

One of the best service oriented business I've ever run into. Rob goes out of his way to satisfy even the most strange requests. He hung pulleys in my palm trees for amateur radio antennas. Very fairly priced. He and his crew work fast, stay on task, and are extremely careful of the surrounding area. He is very able to work around problems that come up. Fast, efficient, fair, and friendly best describe him. read more

Rob and his crew are top-notch. They know their trees, and will go above and beyond to help you find tough-to-find varieties. They are dependable, prompt, reasonably-priced, and just simply a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for tree-planting, pruning, and consultations. read more

We've used Robert twice to thin and prune the big oak trees around our house. He's always been prompt in quoting the job, and flexible by quoting different portions of the job, so we can mix and match. The work was done well and clean-up was great. We could keep the wood or they'll dispose of it - our choice. Recommended. read more

Robert Weatherhill is a cool Arborist. This guy has a passion 4 trees. He & his team did great work on our property. Robert is honest (he didn't sell us work we didn't need), hardworking (great crew, punctual, did the work promised), fairly priced (we got our $'s worth). Five stars 4 Advanced Tree Care! read more

They did a very nice job trimming an enormous cedar tree in my front yard. It was all cleaned up, no problems, fair price.

these guys were great. had them come out to cut down 2 very large, dying pine trees. came out, did an assessment and recommendation, and also suggested to monitor 2- other trees. handled the permit process and completed the job in half a day. a few weeks later, after we did more clearing of the ground, we saw there were still parts of the stump that were previously hidden. they came back out, got rid of those parts, planted another tree for us, planted a few more plans, and cut down a palm tree in the front. all at a very reasonable estimate and super-great service/smile. highly recommended: professional, friendly, trustworthy, and great value. read more

I worked with Rob for approximately 4 years to do all the tree work for our HOA in South San Francisco. During this time he was extremely professional and always gave me the best prices and advice. If there was an emergency of any kind, all it took was a call and he would fit me in to his schedule. His crew was always very careful around the homes in the HOA, respectful of the environment, and on many occasions his crews painstakingly worked around nests in the Cypress trees they were trimming. This is a top notch company, and I would not hesitate to recommend Advanced Tree Care to anyone looking for quality tree work. read more

Unfortunately, my experience with Advanced was less than stellar. They were referred by another consulting arborist, and were friendly and seemed knowledgeable. However, the quality of their work was below my expectations. After having problems with wind/storms knocking out trees over last winter, I hired Advanced to trim and secure/stake a number of trees in my yard, which is what the bid indicated they would do. I returned home to find that they had decided a number of the trees did not need to be secured, and that the amount of trimming they had done was virtually undetectable. The price was unchanged, despite what I saw as a reduction in scope. Even after I spent a whole afternoon removing additional "windsail" after they left, (two packed 50 gal recycling barrels worth) I have had several of the trees damaged in the recent past due to the fact that they were either unsecured or inadequately trimmed and staked. In fairness, trees get damaged in windstorms all the time, so it's hard to hold them completely at fault for something that happened 6+ months later. That being said, I was very clear that this was the problem that I was trying to avoid, I relied on their professional advice and work product and didn't get the outcome I was looking for. In retrospect I probably should have made them come back and complete the work to my satisfaction before I paid them, but they seemed to know what they were talking about, and I (wrongly) assumed that they knew better than I did. read more

Rob and his team are great! They get the job done and are very thorough. They don't cut corners and know trees and their business very well. Rob comes out for estimates, Jasmine schedules, and the crews that have come out to my home three times now are very good, hard working, and clean up their messes! I recommend them highly! read more

The team spent 6 hours yesterday trimming my lemon tree, fern tree, and the Chinese Elm that hangs over my yard. Absolutely fantastic job! There was a MOUNTAIN of branches in my driveway and when they left everything was spotless. Rob's crews are very professional and really do a great job insuring that your trees look their best. Highly recommend. read more

Learned through a neighbor that Robert was a neighbor and he takes care of a lot of our neighbor's tree work. I needed a few large oak branches taken down, a tree removed, and some other limbs taken away. Robert, when I met him, mentioned that he's been working on my property for some years (I've only been here a few months). That was nice to learn. His quote was fair and timing reasonable. His crew was very professional (I liked that they had their own equipment not rental like some other tree companies I've seen). I'll definitely use them again in the future. read more

Advanced Tree Care/Robert/Office Assistant's service has been the WORST small business experience for me in the past 30 years in Palo Alto. I worked diligently to accommodate to their schedule/business procedures. I carefully followed their instructions as to when, how to schedule their Fruit Tree Pruning and Spray program. We also verified 4 days in advance WITH Robert the work that was to be done and time he was coming. We have a locked gate, dog and I needed to come home from my office, a 25 minute drive. I also had to re-arrange my own business client schedules and day. So I was very careful to coordinate with ATC. Instead of a smooth project, Robert cancelled the appointment via my office voice mail approx 18 hours in advance. I did not discover the cancellation until the morning of the appointment, approx 7 hours in advance. So my time organizing my day, with my clients, was completely disrupted. I called his office to reschedule, and change the time Robert now wanted to come. From the "get go" his office assistant was confused, rude and could not give me times addressing his schedule so I could coordinate with his. In my opinion she was actually angry to get someone who did not adhere to their scheduling process and times. I finally had to cancel my business with them. Robert had follow up contact with me, and I was shocked how unprofessional he was in addressing my concerns, and my wasted effort. He was only concerned about his procedures and did not care at all about others time and energy. Advanced Tree Care/Robert/His office Assistant earned a deserved FAILING grade from me. read more

We are a repeat customer of Advanced Tree Care over several years now. I have done comparative quoting for the same job with other 5-star yelp companies, and they seem to consistently have better pricing (may be it's because we're repeat customer. dont' know). But the work they do is wonderful. Rob generally believes in "less is more" maintenance for coast live oaks, but unlike other arborist, if we wish to prune a little more he is willing to do that in a manner while preserving the health of the tree. He is also always willing to answer questions, make suggestions, never pushy about what his idea of tree management is, but always works with our overall concept and then apply his best pruning techniques to achieve them. The cutting crew is efficient, considerate, and pleasant folks. Does a great job cleaning up after themselves. It's pretty amazing watching them climb up a 30+ft oak with ease. Few years back, I had to cut down few 25+in diameter oaks that succumbed to SOD on a very difficult terrain, and they managed it well. They were massive trees and each took a full day and a bit more to cut it down. But it was amazing how they were efficiently and safely cutting down large limbs so it will not pose any danger or harm other vegetation (that is worth saving. smashing weed bushes don't count). In contrast, I have had other arborist cutting in our neighbor's lot who droped 5-10ft sections of huge tree limbs and not retrieve it or fix damages (some have rolled the large stump through the fence and crashed it, or 4ft section of a 6in diameter limb fall and smash our container plants, and unless I tell them, they don't seem to bother dealing with it. bashed-in fence? they just propped it back hoping no one would notice how the board was broken in half...). not so with ATC. they make sure the branches fall on our side safely and under control (depending on the situation they use ropes to gently guide it down). They are very careful, and conscientious. They also clean up afterwards very well! Every time after the Rob and his crew is done with our property, the unkempt trees look very handsome, trees look less cluttered with selective pruning and removal of deadwood, and our urban forest yard looks awesome (and this means sometimes you can't tell something was done to them). It's always amazing how they can find ways to transform a tree that looks hopelessly mishappen to something that looks nice. Highly recommend them. read more

We have had great experiences with Rob Weatherill and Advanced Tree Care. They did great work and they were very honest as well. When Rob's crew was working at our house, a small piece of stone from our front step was broken off. It wasn't a big deal, but the crew was quick to point it out to us. Rob himself bought a new replacement stone and came out to replace it for us (at no charge to us, of course) which actually took a fair amount of time. On another occasion, he advised a neighbor of ours that some work she was thinking of didn't really make sense. In other words, he refused work that could have been profitable to him (presumably) because it didn't make sense for the customer. Rob's also taken the time to talk to us a fair bit about different kinds of trees that could make sense for our yard and the pros and cons of each. He's knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Advanced Tree Care has done our pruning for at least four years now. They are fast, do a great job and have reasonable rates. We ask them to arrange their own schedule (once we have a bid), as we know we don't have to be home for them and in fact used their services while we were out of the country for two years. read more

I was very anxious about getting my trees trimmed as I've had some very "bad haircuts" on my trees in the past from other providers. I went with Rob based on the good reviews and I am extremely pleased with the conservative and artistic trim on my live oaks. Also the team worked quickly and cleaned up nicely. The price came in under the estimate as well as they finished so quickly. I will definitely use this company again. read more

Had Rob and his team out recently to Redwood City for some tree trimming on a few Redwood trees and a giant Sequoia. They're about as good natured as it gets, knowledgeable, prompt, efficient, all the superlatives you would want. They're thoughtful about how they approach their work and what's best for the life of the trees. The grounds were also spotless after they left! Also a note about Rob's high level of integrity - some of the work ended up being less involved than we'd predicted, and for one of the trees he suggested monitoring before taking actionable work on it. Of his own accord, he adjusted (lowered) the quote originally given to us (without our having to ask). It reflects a business owner who cares about what's fair and customer service - can't recommend Rob and his team enough! read more

Although they weren't the lowest bid, we hired the Advanced Tree Care team to do a large tree job for us due to their experience and high recommendations on Bay Area Checkbook. The job entailed removing one large tree that was dying, transplanting two small trees into pots, planting two new trees and pruning a large tree. The job was done perfectly and although they had a stump grinder break, they still finished the job in a reasonable amount of time. I highly recommend them. read more

We have used Rob and his crew several times and been impressed with his knowledge, how his work has enhanced out trees, and how good his people are in cleaning up, courtesy and quality of work. We just used them again to remove a very large ((50 ft+) tree that had died. The work was done carefully, everything was cleaned up, and the stump completely ground so you cannot tell that the tree was there. As always, a highly competent job at a very good price. Rob also had recommended some pruning on a few other trees. We appreciated his looking at the whole yard and continuing to share our goal of trees that are attractive and thriving. Thanks Rob! read more

I am completely amazed by the incredible service that I got from this company and I have used so many different tree pruning companies. The owner, Robert, is extremely professional and conscientious. He showed up on time and knew the name and characteristics of every tree that I pointed to in my yard. The estimate was clear, detailed and the price was incredibly reasonable. The crew showed up on time and they spoke perfect English. They left my yard and the front of my house cleaner than when they started. I really can't say enough good things about them. I will always always use them. read more

Robert is great and backs up his work until you are happy. Been using his team for 5+ years now.

After reading the reviews here, my dad contacted Advanced Tree Care to trim his citrus trees. Robert is very knowledgeable and Dad asked him to quote on several other items when he came out. The quote was extremely reasonable and broken out item by item so Dad could choose which to do. Robert and his crew did a great job and were very good about cleaning up afterwards. A pleasure to work with -- highly recommend them. read more

Robert Weatherill and his team were consistently friendly, respectful, and responsive to our needs. Ours was a big job - removing a 35 ft tall magnolia tree which had outgrown it's spot. The Advanced Tree Care team were efficient and careful (we had a fiberglass roof nearby, which they protected during the project). Robert also gave us good advice about replacement trees that would do well in that same location. Thank you, Advanced Tree Care! read more

Cannot recommend Advanced Tree Care highly enough. Rob and his crew could not have been more professional, thorough, careful and committed to doing a first-class job, which is why I keep going back to them for all my tree-needs.
