I have been taking various domestic and foreign vehicles to them for 20 years..they are on the second generation now. But still totally professional and they know transmissions. I have taken some domestic but not have taken 2 different Volvos. Volvos can be to ouch to work on plus Volvo makes it hard on nondealer shops to work on them. No problems for advanced ..they even had gotten the particular tranny fluid the suv required. At 115 k miles it's running much smoother the service was at least 1/3rd to half of what the dealer would have charged. So get it in gear and go see advanced for any tranny issues. read more

Tl;dr it looks like the shop doesn't really care about the cars or customers that come into the shop. Attempts to discuss were met with indifference. In February, my car's transmission had seemingly developed an issue all of a sudden. I looked online based on the symptoms and we looked at what the common issues were. We saw the breather valve on this make/model would become clogged, so we cleaned the valve thoroughly and topped off the transmission fluid. I then opted to take the conservative path forward and wanted to bring it to Adavnce Transmission to let them inspect the transmission and make sure everything was good. The car had close to 190k miles on this transmission and I understand things don't last forever. I talked to both the woman at the front and one of the mechanics and explained everything that had occured with great detail and specifically asked for the transmission to be dropped, inspected, and look for any issues, warnings, or concerns that they might find. I picked up the car on the following Monday. "We cleaned the breather valve and brought the transmission fluid levels to the correct level. Nothing wrong with the transmission at all. The mechanic was surprised how good the transmission was especially after seeing how many miles were on it. You can pick up your car when you're ready." 28 days later. I'm driving to work at 4am, while driving up a small hill the car loses all gears. Thankfully, I was close the peak of the hill and was able to coast down to gas station and safely park while waiting for a tow truck and a ride. Once parked, the car had transmission oil dripping out from it. It was clear there was a leak. I called the shop as soon as they opened and explained what the car had experienced that morning. I requested the transmission be looked over, to see where the leak was coming from and any other indicators of what happened and if it was salvageable. Shortly after getting confirmation the car made it to the shop from the towing company, the same woman at the front of the shop called and said "the mechanic says your transmission is just dead." I mentioned that just 28 days prior they told me everything was great. How could it go from great to dead in such a short time? "The transmissions can just go out, without any warnings or signs sometimes. You can either pay $7,000 for a new transmission plus labor or pick up your car whenever you're ready." Obviously, I've shortened this call but the same indifference was shared throughout the 5-7 minute call. I had the car towed to another mechanic. What he found shows the level of indifference the mechanics had for the car, and the shop's desires to sweep things under the rug: He first filled the transmission with transmission fluid to see where the leak was coming from. He let it sit for 3 days then lifted the car. One of the transmission sensors was loose, not even hand tight. He inspected it, then tightened it down to spec, and refilled the transmission again. 3 more days, no more leaks. He then started the car up. It's now been several days and there hasn't been any issues of leaking or of the transmission being dead. If you want to spend thousands of dollars to fix an issue they may have created, take your transmission issues to Advance Transmission. If you want honest work on your vehicle, you'll have to go somewhere else. read more

They assessed my Ford tranny and did not encourage replacement - honesty. The did work on my Getrag gearbox for my BMW and it has been completely renewed / ready to hit the track. I waited and glad I did. I was on a holiday trip and I thought my transmission went. In the end it only cost me $95 as it was a loose/missing brake caliper bolt binding/locking up the rear wheels. (The loose/missing bolt probably caused by a previous un-qualified Mechanic working on my Tahoe). Bottom line - Shortly after they put it on the lift they saw the problem. I feel being out of state that they, or anyone else, could have easily sold me a transmission. I had a conversation with Gareth in general about my vehicle, the transmission, and the actual problem when I picked up my Tahoe. Back in May of 2004, my husband & I were here from Atlanta visiting his parents in Simpsonville. Our 1996 GMC conversion van was having transmission problems. Our Dad took it to Advanced Transmissions, & the rebuilt the entire transmission. My husband & I moved from Atlanta to Simpsonville about 7 years ago. We just traded in our 25 year old van for a new one a few days ago. I'm going through all the old GMC van paperwork, & I found the repair order receipt from the transmission work. I dropped the car off when instructed, an hour later I was called with a detailed explanation of the problem and what the repair cost would be. I gave my approval to begin the repair. As promised my car was ready the following day at the agreed to price. No surprises, no price change, just an excellent repair performed by very qualified mechanics! I lost the Over Drive in my truck. I took it in on Monday. They told me they were slammed and would get to it as soon as possible. I have alternate means of transportation so I just left it. They did look busy, but also looked to be handling it well. They called me Wednesday regarding my transmission. Let's be honest, at this point they can tell you anything. They can bend you over the proverbial gear knob. It is just how greedy they want to be right. Well, they told me a new one was 2800 and the fix, if they could, would be $625. I said let's go with the fix. I picked up my truck on Thursday. On the drive home I noticed it seemed smoother. 625 wasn't really that bad. We all gotta make a living. I am happy. I do recommend. Integrity and honesty could aptly describe Advanced Transmission ! I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 with 92,000 miles on it and I really like it a lot. A couple of months ago, the transmission began slipping a little between gears. For those 2 months, I agonized over where to take my truck to find what was causing this and to get an estimate. I made the mistake of going to one of those national chain franchises. Big blunder on my part (see below). I'm a retired senior citizen with SS limited income. Fortunately, after highly recommended by a good mechanic, I came to Advanced Transmissions in Mauldin, SC. The friendly receptionist introduced me to Monte, one of the two brother owners. I told him what the transmission was doing, and without flinching or even driving my truck, he told me the problem and how much it would cost . He knew I was frustrated, and advised me to bring my vehicle in the next morning. I took it in, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car was there with my rental car. I expected to get my truck back the next afternoon. At 3 p.m. the SAME day, I got a call saying that my Ranger would be ready at 4 p.m. There it was, all done for exactly what he quoted me it would be! In fact, it was for less than the franchise store wanted me to pay for an estimate! I got in the truck and drove it home and I was thrilled. I have driven it since, in town and on the interstate, and it shifts like a new vehicle. I couldn't be more pleased with the pleasant service, reasonable cost, no bait and switch, ability to give me a price on the spot, and the reliability I have experienced since. In addition, they provide a 12 month 12,000 mile parts AND labor warranty. Monte and Leon are honest folks who just want to do a good job at a reasonable cost. And THAT they do well! No lousy games here. It is my opinion that you do NOT patronize a national chain transmission shop. If you go to get an estimate, it is their company policy nationwide, to get money up front to "take down the transmission" to see what is wrong, then tell you what it will cost. It's basically a sales job. In my case, it was over $700, then if I wanted them to do the work, that amount would apply toward final cost (of work you probably didn't need). If you elect to NOT have them do the work, then you've spent $700 for NOTHING. I could not get the owner of the local franchise to give me an estimate, even a ballpark "worst case scenario" estimate of having to rebuild the transmission. Would you leave a blank check to a shop like this, that decides how much you are going to spend? All you have to do is Google any national chain, and you will find dozens or hundreds of horror stories, from scamming, lying, holding cars, not keeping so-called promises. There are ripoff reports for two of the most well known. There is even a site called (blank blank) sucks! In all fairness, the local franchise had one complaint, that involving method of payment. I HIGHLY recommend Advanced Transmission to repair your transmission without worry. You will be glad you did. If you can't get there, at least go to a local privately owned transmission repair shop. read more

On August 1, 2019, I dropped off my 2006 Saab 9-3 that morning to have the transmission looked at. I was experiencing slippage between gears and needed it looked at. After speaking with the kind lady at the front desk, she took my keys, my information and told me it would be the following Monday (at the latest) that they would be able to look at my car due to their shop being extremely busy. She said I would get a call no later than Monday afternoon to explain what was found in their initial diagnosis. I called them Tuesday afternoon around 5pm, after hearing nothing from them on Monday. The gentleman who answered was very apologetic about not getting to my car and assured me my car would be seen the very next morning and that I would get a call by noon on Wednesday. Two days later, I called them again, to follow up with my car. The front office lady states that they have not been able to start my car and that they had it on a charger so that they could start it to perform their diagnosis. I was told I would be called later that day. I received no phone call that Friday afternoon. The following Monday morning, I called them again to get an update. Once again, I was told they would get my car into the shop that day and I would receive a phone call later that day. Again, no phone call. Around 1030 am, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019...13 DAYS after I dropped my car off, I went to the shop. When I arrived, my car was in exactly the same spot I had parked it on August 1st when I dropped it off. I went in to ask them about my car and they tell me that were just now getting ready to get it in to look at it. I stopped them there, asked for my keys so that i could take my car home as I had begun looking for another shop for my transmission service. I stated that they had my car for 13 days and that they still had not looked at it, to which they had no response. They were apologetic, and then had a vehicle moved that had my car blocked in, so that I was able to leave with my car. I am fairly new to Greenville, and took my car to Advanced Transmission on a high recommendation from a local European mechanic. Like most people, I visited their website and read their glowing reviews, so I was confident in my decision to take it there. I am not sure of the reason for me to have the experience I had with them, but I can assure you that they have lost me as a potential customer forever. 13 days without even looking at my car, after repeated assurances from owners and employees of this shop, is not an effective way to run a business. read more

My Mother has been getting her Chrysler Pacifica 2006 serviced at a dealership in town since they purchased it 12.5 years ago. Last week she took her car in because it was making a rumbling noise and surging sporadically. She was told her transmission was bad and needed to be replaced, although the car only had 51,000 miles. The costs was going to $4,950! I took it to Leon and Monty, within 10 minutes they told us the transmission was fine and car only needed a new alternator! 2 hours later her car was repaired and running perfectly! I have a vintage 1995 Mercedes E300 with half a million miles on it. I was having for the first time issues with the transmission. Wow I found the best transmission shop I have ever located. My car had been previously serviced by Advanced before to change the fluid out. I found them profoundly candid and as they promised it was serviced at a very reasonable price. When the transmission failed I took it back to Advanced Transmission and they gave me a very low quote to rebuild it. I agreed gladly to give them my car to replace it. When I got the car back Leon informed me that he should have charged more because there was extreme wear and needed more work and parts over and way beyond the quoted estimate. To my pleasant surprise Leon said do not worry we will honor that quote. Folks trust me these guys Monty and Leon and their entire staff are amazing honest and I for one am a customer as long as I live here. I would even consider towing my car if future work is needed to Advanced Transmission because I TRUST them totally. I salute the owners and staff of this great business. I cannot speak for how their service is because they refused to even look at my car. Do not waste your time if you have any modifications to your vehicle. They refused to even look at my car after finding out it is lowered. I fail to see why the suspension on a vehicle makes them unable to service it's transmission. read more

By far the most ethical and honest transmission company around. Repaired my transmission for $135. Needed a new seal and fluid. Another transmission service in Greenville told me my transmission wasn't properly distributing the fluid inside the transmission. I guess not since it was low on fluid! They wanted to charge me $695 to "further diagnose" and between $1500 and $3500 to repair. Its good to know there are still some honest business people left in the world!!
