On 12/22/25 Advanced Auto took advantage of my daughter whose car broke down on I95. Charged 4X the normal price for parts, conducted additional services not asked for. Exorbitantly high labor charges/hour. Even charged 5% extra for use of a credit card, I thought that was now illegal in Virginia. Unfortunately if you breakdown in that area there are few choices. If you can steer clear of these guys. read more

Warning about Advanced Truck & Auto in Doswell, VA. We broke down at the Love's in Ruther Glen, VA. We called to have us towed to the Boss Truck shop a mile down the road. Anytime Towing picked us up and suggested to tow it to Advanced Truck & Auto. We like to support local businesses, so we said sure. It took about 15 minutes to diagnose the problem of replacing all 6 injectors at the cost of $13,000. We just put $20,000 in repairs in her, so we said no. We took a rental car from Richmond airport to pick up our other truck, in Ocala to come back to get our truck and load. As we were heading up with our other truck, we had to have it towed to our shop in Ocala, FL. After it was fixed, we headed up to get our truck and trailer. They were closed Saturday and Sunday, so we picked it up on Monday. However, we had to pay a storage fee of $200 a day, so we had to pay a total of $1200 just for the storage fee, and pay another 500 to get the broken down truck towed to Doswell truck stop. Please, if you can help it, save yourself from the same nightmare. On a side note, we wanted two of the good tires from the broken down truck to replace two on our other truck. They quoted us a price of $750. Doswell truck stop did it for $35 per tire. Once you go in, look for a hosing! read more

Do not use these guys! On June 27, 2023 I was pulling a camper out of a gas station parking lot, didn't swing wide enough, and whacked the front axle on a concrete barrier. The tow company - owned by the shop - said they could fix my camper. It sat in their yard until they called me at the end of August to say they couldn't fix it. They finally let the insurance company tow it to my location almost a month later. BTW - all it needed was a new axle and a little welding to one of the shackles. Once he had the new axle, the guy near my home fixed it in one day. Advance even had the stones to suggest that I owed them for "storage fees", yet their bill was for $225 - certainly not enough hours incurred to justify having my unit for 2 months and accomplishing exactly Nothing! If I could give them 0 stars, I would. read more

Ever since I bought my used truck, I've been taking it and my horse trailer here for state inspections and repairs. I always get excellent service at a very fair price. Since I live just a few miles away, they are happy to run me home if my truck will be in the shop for more than a few hours then they will come and pick me up when it's done! It's really nice to know that this bunch of guys and Tiffany have my back. read more

After returning from our trip, I get on Yelp to give these guys the five star rating they deserve. Lo and behold, there is another review where these guys have saved someone in the midst of a long journey! Like the other reviewer, we were also on our way to Florida. Being the holidays, the traffic out of the DC area was horrendous. The distance we'd traveled would normally take an hour and a half had taken two and a half. And then a strange rasping sound came from our front wheel. It was worsening rapidly and I began to think perhaps we should abandon our long-planned for trip. Already tired and demoralized, we pulled off the first exit and luckily found ourselves a mile or so away from Advanced Truck & Auto. They quickly and competently diagnosed the difficulty and made adjustments on the wheel, took another test drive, another adjustment and pronounced it fixed. When my husband went to the register with his wallet, Curtis said 'No charge.' I don't know - maybe I'm a bit sappy. But it was one of those moments that you'll always remember when things get rough - that there are decent and honest people out there who don't take advantage of someone else's hardship, but instead lend a helping hand. When we got back on the road, we were energized and smiling. We had a wonderful trip - in no small part to the guys at Advanced Truck & Auto. read more

I got a flat tire on I-95 one afternoon. Nobody had the tire, even the Chevy dealers (it was a Corvette). A couple places offered to special order it, which would take a couple days, but Advanced said they could have it by 10 AM the next day, so I had the tow truck driver take it there. I arranged for a rental car 8 miles down the road at an Enterprise car rental, and they took me down there (no charge). When they dropped me off, they said when I take the car rental back, I should call them and they'd come and get me. I offered the driver a tip, but he wouldn't take it. They got the tire and had the car ready for me the next day by 10 AM. Nice people, especially Tiffany the cashier, the driver who took me to the car rental, and all the other employees I encountered, but didn't get their names. BTW, this is not a fancy, new-car service dept. type of place, with waiting rooms, coffee, etc. It's bare-bones, but don't let the looks deceive you. It's first-class service. read more

Has anyone else been scammed by these people? They charged double the amount of a normal garage to fix a hose. Then took it for a test ride and said the transmission is gone. We left it there to finish our vacation. We went back on a Friday to get the car towed. They were going to charge us nightly until we moved the car. Husband got in car, it ran beautifully and made it all the way from Virginia to Pennsylvania. The only problem is, we now have three cars because we were told that the car was not fixable and had to buy new since we were stuck so far from home and wanted to get to MB on vacation. Be careful with these people. Seems they were misleading us to get a get running SUV from us if we just left it there. read more

I can't say enough about how good the service is at Advanced Truck and Auto. After a bad experience with Stanley Auto and Truck, which wasted over a week and a half (Please see my review on Stanley's Truck and Auto). I was so elated to find such a professional and organized repair business. Due to a failed inspection sticker on my motorhome I needed to have the entire exhaust system replaced including exhaust manifold and gasket. While driving away from my bad experience at Stanley Auto and Truck, I passed Advanced Truck and Auto. This was on a Monday afternoon around 4pm, they close at 5pm. I spoke with Andy at the desk and told him what I needed done and he assured me that he could fix it right away. He told me first thing Tuesday he would be on the phone ordering parts. Once the parts come in he would have me bring in my RV, since I was living in it at the time. Andy called me the morning of Tuesday and he needed the chassis number of my Fleetwood Discovery (Freightliner) so that they could ensure they were ordering the correct parts. He contacted me on Thursday and said that I could pay express shipping or wait for normal delivery and the parts would come in on Tuesday of the next week. Since it was so close to the weekend I opted for normal shipping. The OEM parts for my rig were delivered on Tuesday afternoon and Andy called and asked me to bring in the rig in by Wednesday morning so he could begin the work. I decided to bring it in on Tuesday night so that the rig would be there first thing in the morning and engine cold so work could begin. He had one job that needed to be completed before he could bring my rig in the shop. We spoke around noon on Wednesday and they had made significant progress but found there was a short piece of pipe that needed to be replaced and had not been ordered. They were unable to see it until they began the disassembly of the exhaust. He told me that they could repair it with a part manufactured locally. I stopped in on my way home from work to see the progress, because I was concerned about the exhaust manifold bolts not coming out and while I was there, I see that a customer in an RV had broken down on the road and this shop managed to get someone working on their RV so that they could be on their way. This impacted me very much, this could have been me on the road. Miles from home and at the mercy of any number of shops who could take advantage of their position and time. To know they put these customers as a priority means the world to me. I get a call around 4:30pm on Thursday and the work was completed and I could pick up my rig. This business understands customer service. They know the customer doesn't care what other work his business is doing, they just want and need their vehicle repaired as quickly as possible. Their organizational skills to juggle multiple jobs and make repairs is second to none. If you absolutely want a honest, organized business working on your vehicle this is the place to take it!!! Advance Truck and Auto is now my local repair shop. Great Job Andy and many thanks to you and your crew!!! read more

Excellent customer service. I am not a local and they were able to get me a tow truck. 2 in one service was great. Thought it was something major but ended up being something minor and after calling around it was the best price around. Instead of a day down it they had me in and out. Score. read more

Broke down on the way to florida called a tow truck and we were going to the dealer who said he would try to fit us in so my husband asked the tow truck driver if he knew a good diesel mechanic he said his shop had a great mechanic he drove us there we couldn't ask for a better place they took us, in right away found the problem had the part delivered and stayed late to finish the job and get us back on the road even though we had broken down we felt lucky to find a place that did so much to solve our problem I'm sure had we had gone to the dealer it would ave been at least two or three days the guys at Advanced made us feel that they really cared about getting the job done so that we could get back on the road they were the sliver lining to our dark cloud read more

If I had an option of selecting none of the above stars I would have. I DROVE my vehicle here but I had to have it towed away! Advanced Truck/Tire & Auto blew my engine up!!! Tiffanie Cantrell (who posed as the owner but is only a receptionist ) acted very ignorant or maybe it was not an act and she was very rude and did not attempt to rectify the issue of my vehicle not starting but argued with me stating "You bought it here with a problem and it's leaving here with a problem" and " I'm not going to play these games with y'all " while her and about eight men maybe more guiltily watched as my fiancé tried to get the engine to turn over. When I demanded to speak to someone above her she stated there was no one above her and she was the owner. The shop in Ladysmith location told me otherwise and also stated that there is always someone above the receptionist on duty. Sad that nobody found my issue important that day. Nobody tried to rectify the issue in any way. Terrible that I feel as though reason might've been because I am an African American female and all the mechanics/ tow truck drivers other than one guy that day were all Caucasian. Somebody if not everybody at this place in Doswell know what they did to cause my engine to knock. That's why I WAS NOT told over the phone NOR BEFORE OR AFTER PAYING that I should expect my vehicle to NOT START when I arrive to pick it up. My experience was the absolute worst!!!! That receptionist Tiffanie Cantrell ......OH MY GOD ....YUK!!!! read more
