It included color sealing a tiled kitchen counter with extremely stained grout that could not be cleaned. Also color sealing three floors and two tiled bay windows. Everything is completely transformed. It's early days, but even the countertop has been easy to maintain despite the insults of a busy kitchen. We had one glitch. The technician applied samples of several colors to each part of the job. The one I picked for one of the floors looked very unattractive to me once it was applied to the entire floor. It wasn't Sir Grout's fault, but Chris worked with me to find a very fair solution. By the time the technician left the floor looked great. I also showed Chris a fully tiled bathroom. Aside from the floor, which we did color seal, Chris recommended skipping that room since it is in such good shape and showers can get expensive. It is refreshing to find a company that does not oversell. I think that Chris takes a very long term view of his company and values loyal customers over short term revenue. Imagine our disappointment when after a couple of months we noticed a puddle outside the shower where the only way it got there was through a leak. We thought at first, we could just re caulk. But decided to call in a professional to evaluate if there were more problems. Thanks to Yelp, Ashley and Jill (Who needs to pay for Angies list?) I found Jeff Tavener! After my description of the problem, he gave me a quote over the phone, told me not to use the shower for a few days and he would come by to fix it. He came by this morning and after getting to work, showed me the severe problems caused by the original shoddy workmanship. He went above and beyond the work in his original quote, re cementing under the glass blocks and refused to charge me more money! Whoever heard of such a thing these days? I still paid him more than he quoted, I felt it was only fair. Not only did he fix the leak and the underlying problem, but went over what we should keep an eye out for, and will be back in a couple of months to do a little more. Told me to call him if I see even one hairline crack in the grout so he can come back and take care of it. It's a bummer to find out that your beautiful new bathroom was originally done improperly, but finding Jeff was an absolute blessing. My dad was a plumber that did a lot of finish tile work, carpentry, bathroom and kitchen remodels. He was a tradesman that took a lot of pride in his work. My nightmare started when I hired a "contractor" through TaskRabbit with 600+ five-star reviews to fix and paint a peeling bathroom window along with some regrout touch-ups. Straightforward, right? Well, on Day 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, less than 72 hours before my guest's early Sunday arrival, he scurried away mid-job and left the window's wood and metal frame in worse condition than when he started. He used a chemical paint remover that compromised the surface, then left when things got complicated. No referral. Just a "sorry" and out the door. Now I had less time, a worse problem, and no clear path forward. Enter NYC Grout Pros. Elizabeth initially told me they were booked until Monday, which I understood, but once she heard my timeline, she led with empathy and assured me she and Daniel would make Friday work. After hours of driving and working late, he still cleaned thoroughly--bathroom spotless, tools neatly placed. As we walked out, he noticed dust from his boots in the hallway and instinctively dropped down to clean it, saying he didn't want to leave the building that way. That level of care--at the very end of a long day--is not something you can fake. I also appreciated how highly he spoke of his team, especially Elizabeth.
