Leak Stoppers

I haven't reviewed anything on Yelp in like 3 years but I was so incredibly happy with Leak…read moreStoppers that I'm back! We bought our house is 2014 and, from day one, had a funny water stain spot on the living room ceiling that always appeared on super rainy or snowy days. We had a few companies "fix it" for us in the past but the wet spot always, inevitably, came back. One day, during an ice storm this past winter, the wet spot burst and we had a full out leak in the middle of our living room. In a frenzied panic, we literally just googled roofing companies and called down the list until someone would agree to come that day. The company that came was Leak Stoppers. They came in an ice storm. They climbed ON THE ROOF IN AN ICE STORM. We were already impressed. The man who came (I forgot his name, sorry!), came down from the roof (soaking wet) with photos he'd taken of all the ways that our roof was wonky. It was SO helpful to see everything in pictures instead of just suggestions that I didn't really understand. We signed the estimated proposal that day--it was very reasonable--and were happy to, hopefully, finally put an end to the leak. Unfortunately, the leak came back a little bit the next time it rained, but we knew the work had a five year warranty (and also understand that sometimes things are trial and error). We called again, spoke to a manager (or owner? Again, I'm not sure! Sorry!) and a day or two later, someone was back, working on our roof. This time, it was fixed! For the first time in our 3 years of home ownership, we don't have a funny water stain on our living room ceiling. I want to add also, that everyone we worked with and spoke to was super nice, friendly, and patient. Thanks!

His professionalism was lacking in its place was a defensive person that chose to attack me on the phone talking to me in a extremely disrespectful manner. All I wanted to to ask him was to inspect his work that 2 restoration companies said was wrong, 1 roofing company and a engineer all said was wrong. This poor workmanship resulted in thousands of dollars to me. I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE NOT USING THIS COMPANY.

Shingle It Two

After a thorough investigation (Google, Yelp, Better Business Bureau) and recommendations from the…read moreLevittown Moms Facebook page, we hired Shingle It Two Roofing to do a complete roof replacement. They stripped the original roof down to the plywood, replaced all the flashing around the vents and chimney and installed a ridge vent in place of the old style roof vents we had before. Their quoted price was very reasonable and there were no "surprise" add ons when the work began. The crew arrived promptly in the morning and worked continuously until the job was completed. Dennis, the owner, was onsite during the entire job. The hard working crew was professional and treated our property with great care and respect, protecting landscaping, driveway pavers and new gutters from damage. They were extremely diligent in cleaning up any and all debris and ensuring there were no roofing nails or other material left in the gutter or on the lawn or driveway. The roof was installed correctly, looks beautiful, and we couldn't be happier. We recommend this company 100 percent!

Photos coming soon…read more Working with Dennis ultimately turned out to be a disaster that likely has to work its way through the court system unless Dennis comes through at the eleventh hour. Shingle It Two installed a new roof, gutters, and soffits at my home. They were reasonably priced. They were very friendly and seemed knowledgeable about roofing and other things (windows, etc). First, I previously spent thousands of dollars on mesh gutter guards, which Dennis assured me he could move to the new gutters the same way they had been on the old ones. But they didn't sit right and in some places didn't hold, and according to the gutter guard company who looked, Dennis' crew failed to re-attach them correctly. Sections had insufficient brackets and or were missing the mesh itself. Dennis tried unsuccessfully to remedy some of these issues by adding screws, but the gutter guards continue to be improperly affixed today, and a section is missing entirely. Since October, I was waiting for him to provide a solution. It's now March. When I confronted him, he acted like he had no idea why I would be upset and yet again said he'd come. Moreover, the gutters could have been compromised by adding all those extra screws. Dennis appears unwilling to file a claim with his insurer even though he says he has insurance. (But see note below about how Dennis accepts payment.) He is definitely capable of doing the job right, as I've seen examples of his other work. He should do so. Second, I was never happy with the shingles themselves. Various roofers have told me that Dennis's installation was "poor workmanship." To improve the appearance, I believe Dennis added extra nails, which did improve the esthetics. But, I'm concerned that adding more nails presents its own issues, and I wish the roof had looked right in the first instance or that Dennis would have redone his work, which he still should do. Third, Dennis's crew damaged an attic HVAC pipe, causing a refrigerant leak, then blamed me for the damage (recording of phone call available). Others concluded that the error was attributable to Dennis's work. Dennis sent a "wall of shame" contractor, who acquired that label from being unlicensed, to do the repair, but he failed to recharge the HVAC fully. My contractor had to complete the job. Dennis ultimately reimbursed me, but it should never have happened and took significant effort, not to mention being without A/C. Fourth, Dennis's team failed to properly clean up the debris, leading to nails strewn all over and two flat tires. My kids kept discovering nails. Dennis largely disputed that it had to do with him, but no other work was done that would have produced those nails. Fifth, Dennis's team failed to reconnect a wire for my outside spotlight when attaching it to the new soffit. The electrician he sent discovered and corrected the error, but it shouldn't have happened. Dennis instructed me to make payment in cash or bank check made out to his name directly, rather than his company. Although I didn't think much of it at the time, I now find it highly irregular, and we'll see how and if county consumer affairs or the state taxation department or federal Internal Revenue Service investigates my impending concern about this business practice. Maybe it's entirely acceptable; time will tell. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE AND END UP IN COURT, ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AND WRITING TO REGULATORS. It's a huge hassle even though I'm confident that I will succeed. I will gladly update this review if Dennis admits his mistakes and comes through, like I hope he will. Dennis still won't admit that he did anything wrong. Really? Missing mesh? Insufficient brackets on the gutter guards? Broken A/C pipe? Sending an unlicensed contractor? Forgetting to reconnect wiring? Insisting on payment to him personally? Failing to come from October to March about the gutters and gutter guards? That's nothing?
