Brought my car to Jeff after having been to another shop (spent 6 grand) problem still there…read more Dealership (another 700$) and to Jeff for a check over and to double check the work done and fix errors. They were professional, understanding of my situation and apprehension of trusting. They were great, answered all questions etc. I'll never go anywhere else!

I brought my truck to Sandalwood Automotive to have the U-joints and CV axles replaced. I…read moreexplicitly told them not to use the CV axles I had previously purchased because I had already tried installing them and confirmed they were the incorrect fit. They quoted me for new axles and it was more than I could afford, so I told them to just replace just the U-joints. The shop then decided to just use the CV axles I had already told them don't work instead of just replacing the U-joints. They assured me their mechanic performed an alignment and test drive to confirm proper fitment. They were wrong and there's no way they did an actual test drive. Within 4 miles of leaving the shop during Friday evening rush-hour, the axles started severely grinding and nearly locked up in 4-lane traffic. This created a severe safety hazard, leaving me stranded and requiring an immediate tow back to the shop. Because I was in the middle of moving with only one vehicle and needed transportation for military drill in Tampa that weekend, I had no choice but to secure a rental vehicle immediately. Since the shop closed at 5:00 PM on Friday and was closed all weekend, getting a rental through them at the moment of the breakdown was physically impossible. When I contacted them Monday morning, they acknowledged the mistake, stated the repair would be redone, and informed me they were contacting the General Manager regarding rental reimbursement. The fix took four days, requiring me to keep the rental from Friday through Thursday. When I called for an update after picking up the truck, Jessica informed me that Sandalwood Automotive was denying the rental reimbursement entirely because the rental "wasn't arranged through them"--an option they never offered on Monday, nor was it even possible when their work failed on Friday evening. While the second repair job eventually resolved the axle issue, Sandalwood Automotive's failure to listen to customer instructions put my safety at risk on the road and left me nearly $500 out of pocket for a rental vehicle necessitated entirely by their error. Their refusal to make this right demonstrates a complete lack of accountability for customer safety and service quality.

John was honestly a godsend and a great referral for me. He did my timing chain as a side job out…read moreof the shop where he works his main job, and I genuinely appreciate both him and the shop for allowing that to happen. Every interaction I had with the other personnel there was also pleasant and respectful, and I would absolutely come back. From the beginning, John's communication, transparency, honesty, and respect went a long way with me. What really sealed the deal was when he offered to let me stay at his home while he worked on my truck because I lived about four hours away. Nobody had to do something like that, and it spoke volumes to me about his character and the kind of person he is. Most importantly, the timing job itself has been great. I've now put roughly 2,000 miles on my truck since the repair and changed the oil twice. There is no timing-related ticking, and she's running beautifully. John also spent additional time troubleshooting a charging-system issue that came up after everything was put back together, which I really appreciated. He also replaced my master window module, which has been working perfectly. My only disappointment came from some of the additional work. While he had the truck, John recommended replacing the belt tensioner and engine mounts. I trusted his judgment and told him to go ahead. My original quote was around $1,100, and I ultimately paid approximately $2,100. I didn't mind paying more because I wanted the truck fixed correctly and assumed the additional parts being installed were OEM or comparable high-quality parts. Unfortunately, the replacement belt tensioner failed shortly afterward and caused my nearly new serpentine belt to shred. The engine mounts were also not installed and were instead given to me. After what happened with the tensioner, I'm hesitant to install those mounts because I don't know their quality or how long they'll last. I reached out to John afterward to let him know what happened with the tensioner but unfortunately never received a response. That was probably my biggest disappointment. I wasn't looking to argue, bicker, or demand money back. I simply would have appreciated some accountability--even something as simple as, "That's on me, bring it back and I'll take care of it," or offering to work something out the next time I needed service. That being said, I want to be fair because the major repair I originally brought my truck to John for was done well. After 2,000 miles, my truck is running reliably again, and I'm very happy with the timing work. I trust John's mechanical ability and appreciate what he did for me, especially accommodating me despite the distance I traveled. I also appreciate the shop allowing him to do the work there, and everyone else I interacted with treated me well. I would absolutely return in the future. I plan on keeping this truck in my family for as long as I reasonably can, and if another major repair eventually comes up, I genuinely hope John is still around because I would consider bringing her back to him. Overall, I'm grateful to John for getting my truck back on the road and dependable again. I just wish there had been better follow-up and accountability regarding the failed tensioner and the additional parts.

They diagnosed what was wrong and gave a fair estimate -- most importantly, they said it would be done today so he and his GF to continue on to Orlando. After I came home, I got a text that my front lower bushings were ripped. I was never shown that while I was there. I called and asked why was I not told when I was there? and what is the price to replace? I was told over 1,600. when I was searching on line (replacing front bushings,) it said: JJ auto service charges $500 to $700. I took my car to another mechanic that had very good reputation. He looked under my car and said: there is nothing wrong with your front Bushing. I did not trust JJ auto service, I checked if my liquids were toped off, there was hardly any antifreeze, I went and got a gallon and filled it myself. I asked the mechanic to please change my oil, I do not trust what they put in my car, the filter that came out was very dirty and black! They lost my business, there is no way in two weeks the filter would have been that dirty!

I showed up to the appointment on time, and they immediately started work on my vehicle. Raymond was really friendly and easy to talk to. My vehicle was actually ready a little faster than quoted, which is always great, and not only that, but my price was actually under the quote! I didn't feel ripped off nor did I feel talked down to (an issue I've run into elsewhere as a woman, unfortunately). You just have to fill out the sheet and he was even kind enough to also add on the oil change that I wanted even though they were pretty busy. It took just a few hours and I came back to pick it up and the cost was so much better than if I went anywhere else just to do one of those things. I will definitely be back. This will probably be my go to spot for forgetting my car fixed!
