Current x-rays show I still have arthritis and it is still mild. I thought I was in for knee replacements and my Orthopedist recommended Physical Therapy. After researching the recommended clinics I chose one that does Chinese Medicine as part of their treatment. I am amazed at the approach this team of specialists takes toward finding and correcting physical problems. Adjustments, acupuncture and targeted stretching and exercises to rebuild the muscles which caused the pain. I do not believe any one of these approaches would have helped alone. The focus of each member of the team is to understand which muscles are causing the issues and focusing their combined treatments on the root cause. I am in week 5 and am so happy to report more and more completely pain free days. Physical Therapy requires commitment and participation from the patient. I am willing to do what it takes to get my life and knees back into shape and it shows. I walked 8 hours at Disney last weekend and the soreness was small. I bowled last night (on a therapy day) and instead of limping around and swelling today, I am only tender. Now that I know how to identify muscles that are not functioning correctly, I can tell where I need to focus my out of clinic work at home. Really wish I knew all this ten years ago, but I am also really glad I made a smart choice in choosing ARC for my treatment. The Mt. Dora team is amazing!

David is my therapist and the only person I could find in Lake county. who can successfully work with and help someone with a TBI. ( such as myself) Any other place I was sent just didn't get the importantance of knowing what a person with a tramatic Brain injury lacks in comprehending how to try to walk again.! David GETS IIT. I have no concept of how to walk again.. ( its not fun) I use to fall a lot more than I do now, Thanks to David teaching me the most important ways I must continue to try to do every day. He is patient with me even when I try to turn my left foot out, but CANNOT even do that anymore without also moving my hips, arms, right foot and shoulders. It's extremely frustrating and difficult for me to do what others CAN do who don't have a T. B. I I wish I could have what I call "my old body" back. ( when I could walk, run, ride a bike, and fix things around the house myself) I not only cannot walk but have no use of my arm or hand anymore either. I thank God for David, He gives me me hope and direction. My goal is to be able to to walk again without needing my wheelchair, so I can go sit with dogs at the humane society's to help them become calmer so, soon they can be adopted and be in a loving home, not at a humane society that scares them all the time.‼ I have a T.B.I. Not just being put on a bunch of different machines by a tech. Therapists are hands on and ask many questions during session to check progress. I am working with Tammy and cannot praise her techniques and personality enough. There was something abut her from the very beginning that made me want to do the home exercises and she is so interested in the progress you are making. I've seen some of the other therapists work and their procedures seem to be very similar to hers- one-on- one, manual work and many questions and concerns. I truly wish I had come here the previous times I've had PT!
