This required a straight leg brace for six weeks and crutches for another month. All this significantly impacted my ability to properly rehab the knee with the replacement, as well as the knee with the quadriceps damage. I was referred to Pursuit Therapy and Maryann Daniels by a friend, which was a true blessing because her approach was professional, personal, and hands-on. She was focused on pain management and rehabilitation, which was a balance that I did not receive at the traditional rehab center I went to after surgery. The work Colleen does was new to me and very interesting. I saw good reviews, so decided to give her a try. Boy Howey, am I glad I did! I had injured my elbow a couple of weeks earlier. Urgent Care just gave me steroids and muscle relaxers. That helped for a while, but I never got my full range of motion back - until Colleen worked on it. I can't tell it was ever injured now! She has since been working on my many scars. I can tell a noticeable difference. Due to their size and age, it's going to take a few treatments to fully undo the problems they cause. David is my therapist and the only person I could find in Lake county. who can successfully work with and help someone with a TBI. ( such as myself) Any other place I was sent just didn't get the importantance of knowing what a person with a tramatic Brain injury lacks in comprehending how to try to walk again.! David GETS IIT. I have no concept of how to walk again.. ( its not fun) I use to fall a lot more than I do now, Thanks to David teaching me the most important ways I must continue to try to do every day. He is patient with me even when I try to turn my left foot out, but CANNOT even do that anymore without also moving my hips, arms, right foot and shoulders. It's extremely frustrating and difficult for me to do what others CAN do who don't have a T. B. I I wish I could have what I call "my old body" back. ( when I could walk, run, ride a bike, and fix things around the house myself) I not only cannot walk but have no use of my arm or hand anymore either. I thank God for David, He gives me me hope and direction. My goal is to be able to to walk again without needing my wheelchair, so I can go sit with dogs at the humane society's to help them become calmer so, soon they can be adopted and be in a loving home, not at a humane society that scares them all the time.‼ I have a T.B.I. Not just being put on a bunch of different machines by a tech. Therapists are hands on and ask many questions during session to check progress. I am working with Tammy and cannot praise her techniques and personality enough. There was something abut her from the very beginning that made me want to do the home exercises and she is so interested in the progress you are making. I've seen some of the other therapists work and their procedures seem to be very similar to hers- one-on- one, manual work and many questions and concerns. I truly wish I had come here the previous times I've had PT!
