My daughter had braces for 4 years, was a patient of Haeger Orthodontics (Kent/Maple Valley) and this place is night and day in comparison. We were absolutely spoiled with Haeger. Pristera does not open until 8am (so never a before school option), they will not schedule appointments out so if we need to cancel or reschedule it is usually another month wait. They charge for EVERY broken bracket - for kids braces. The cost of son's broken brackets alone by the time we are done will probably be another $1k. There are a lot of very young newer in career assistants and the doctor does not come out (for me anyway) to ever give me an update on my son's progress. Office staff are not friendly. The office in Renton is old, dingy and not cozy at all. Not even coffee or water available while parents wait. Haeger's had fresh baked cookies, Keurig machine, water bottles, ice cream in the summer, iPads and nice clean books for kids waiting, magazines for parents, monthly contests like spirit week where kids could collect coins to cash in at the end of treatment for gifts cards. This place is the same price with none of the above. I'm not even sure they have in office WiFi. I rather sit in my car and use my hotspot. If I wasn't locked into a contract I would absolutely switch to another provider. April 2024 First impression - office lobby (Renton) is dated and dingy. Not even a coffee/water station for parents waiting. 5% discount for paying in full is is a poor discount, most other orthos offered at least 10%. After committing and signing the contract I immediately began having regrets. At the first appointment the doctor and techs did not sound confident in my son's treatment plan. They kept saying we'll try to correct, try to fix. For $7k I was expecting them to be saying we are going to fix his teeth and give him the smile he wants! It's a lot of money to be a gamble, I'd much rather you be honest and say you can either fix his teeth or not. Will update as treatment begins.

WHAT THEY DO WELL…read more The staff are professional and helpful. I've never has any issue getting an appointment in a reasonable mount of time. They are also good at working with insurance providers. The exam rooms are clean and provide ample privacy. (The same is not true for a competitor just down the road) ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT I Seemed to be at the mercy of the dentist on shift whenever I went in. I prefer a little more consistency for the sake of patient continuity. Unfortunately, while the service I received seemed great at the time, I ultimately ended up with 2 failed crowns, and each time was referred to an Endo for a root canal. In both cases, the root canal was halted mid-procedure due to the fact that the tooth was cracked to the bottom of the root in multiple places. The Endo claimed that in both cases the DDS should have seem this in x-ray and never crowned in the first. The only good option from the beginning was to extract and get an implant (or denture). Since this office doesn't perform those services, one can only guess they wanted to get paid for the crown work, costing me the patient thousands of unnecessary dollars and much discomfort. To be fair, the crown did postpone the extraction by several years. SUMMARY If you are just looking for cleanings and basic dentistry at a convenient location that is clean and accommodating, this is a great place. If you require any care of a more serious nature and want to work with someone you can trust, look elsewhere.

Haeger is wonderful with the kids and the staff are so gentle and explain everything they are doing. The office staff are friendly and available to answer questions. We've had to call after hours and have gotten Haeger himself to help us. He called after my daughter got her braces on to see how she was doing, and they sent her home with a goody bag of treats when she got her braces off. They truly go above and beyond and think of everything!​​

Poor professionalism…read more I am a patient at Sorensen Orthodontics (West Seattle, WA) with a braces treatment plan. During my care (from March to present), I raised concerns about how my teeth were shifting on two occasions. The first time, Travis provided a solution I was satisfied with. The second time, however, instead of addressing my questions with patience, and actually listening, the orthodontist referred to them as a "laundry list of complaints," spoke over me, and was dismissive when I tried to ask about possible solutions that would make me feel more comfortable.. When I pointed out the lack of professionalism and patience, his "solution" was to remove my braces entirely and he even called me "aggressive." I left the appointment feeling unheard, disrespected, and rushed out of my own treatment plan. Good orthodontic care should include clear communication, respect, and patience with clients -- unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I will be discontinuing treatment before completion. On a positive note, the assistants have been absolutely AMAZING. Ashley, in particular, took the time to explain things thoroughly and clearly -- she did the job I had expected of Travis Sorensen.

Travis Sorensen blew off my concerns, indicating that there wasn't anything else to be done. He tried to gaslight me saying that they actually were straight but that "uneven wear" made them look crooked and that my dentist could contour them to improve the appearance. My dentist was clear that he could not contour them to improve their appearance given their position. I decided that I need to live with these teeth for quite some time and couldn't deal with how crooked they were so I sought out alternative orthodontic treatment. As an aside, another provider in W. Seattle refused to see me because I'd had treatment at Sorensen because they 'all know each other'. Seriously. Anyway, I found a kick-ass orthodontist for treatment on Capital Hill - totally worth the drive - which I recently concluded. Wow - what a difference. Not only in my results but in the process. With Keith Wong I experienced professionalism, an orthodontist that seemed to enjoy his job, and someone who was happy to answer my questions. All of these were notably absent in my experience with Sorensen. I really wish I hadn't wasted all of the money, time, and effort with Sorensen Orthodontics but c'est la vie. It's too late for me, but maybe it's not too late for you. Be sure to look at my pictures if you're in doubt about Sorensen's shoddy work.

I can't believe I'm writing a 5 star review for a dentist, but Dr. Murphy is indeed as good as it…read moregets. I've been going to him for almost 12 years now, and have always experienced great service (despite changing jobs/insurance many times over that period). Dr. Murphy's the only doctor that I've seen consistently during that period, so that should tell you something. It's been easy to make appointments for the times I want, the billing process is simple/fair and I feel that I'm getting good care (although I've been told that generally my oral health is pretty good - not many issues to deal with). Also, I'm not afraid of the dentist, but my wife definitely is. If she can survive a visit to Dr. Murphy, so can you. Overall it's just a small single-practitioner's office, with friendly office staff (almost too cheerful to believe) and the hygenists that are pleasant conversationalists. It's not going to win any award points for the decor, but I'm here a couple hours/year, lounging in a chair staring at the acoustic tiled ceiling (or out the window into the trees), so who cares. Dr. Murphy himself is a very calming presence with a good sense of humor (which is probably important if you're drilling into people's teeth and gums). Highly recommended.
