This time around, I added the digital retina scans because I experienced sudden floaters recently. Dr. Claiboine reviewed the images with me in detail and at this time, it is not something I need to worry about which brought me much comfort. We did my usual contact lens and glasses exam. After getting the trial contacts in, you are free to leave or you can check out the wide array of glasses they have to offer. Otherwise, you can get a copy of the prescription to buy it elsewhere. Either way, I like that there are no high pressure sales tactics.

We liked the male doctor. He was professional and great with kids. But the super star at the clinic is Mohammad in the glasses section. My husband ordered sunglasses and the lenses were a shade too light. He didn't want to cause any issues so he just kept it. Mohammad was helping another customer during this pick up time. He noticed that my husband didn't like the lenses but we left with the sunglasses anyways. 1 week later my husband got a call telling him to come back to the clinic because Mohammad ordered the darker lenses and said he could swap them out free of charge. Now they tell me that I cannot use that prescription because its been over a year but when I requested them it wasn't. Acknowledged they screwed me over and all they said was "sorry it happens". Do not give your money to these people. Over $2,000 spent on them and this is how they reward your loyalty. Couldn't even offer to waive the exam fee to resolve this, they rather lose a 3+ year loyal customer...

He went in the back a few times to look for different colors and helped with minor adjustments too. I had trouble with some of their wide width glasses still being a bit too tight and he found some that were extra wide, and those fit a lot better. Usually I'm fine, but none of their frames had those springs that make the arms(legs?) go outwards. I had glasses like this before and they squeezed my head and gave me a headache. I understand they can be adjusted but past history wants me only wanting those glassed with springs. The price wasn't too bad with the frames and progressive lenses. I planned on going back if I didn't find something elsewhere, but I got lucky at another place. I already had a prescription, so I was just looking for frames and lenses and can't comment on the eye inspection (is that what it's called?)

The staff was all very nice and welcoming of my two kids, who I had to bring along to the exam. After the eye exam, we were quickly greeted by someone who helped us pick out glasses for my daughter. I wasn't too happy with the price of the frames -- they were a bit high -- and adding the necessary lens features would make the overall cost even higher. I do wish there were more lower-priced frame options available. Overall, it was a great visit to Optical Island. We'll be back for future exams and hope to see a wider range of pricing for frames.
