After first contacting him figured I would also pick up a couple of ceiling fans and a few light fixtures. We agreed to a price and made and appointment. He kept in contact to get updates on my deliveries. I also discussed replacing my kitchen sink. Darrell first impressed me was as soon as he walked in he dropped down a towel and wrapped his feet. Everywhere he worked he made sure the surrounding areas were protected. He took a look at my sink and told me what it would take to install a new one. Instead of taking me into a lengthy project he explains it would work but be costly and asked was it worth the minimal benefit I would get out of it. When he finished I all had him hang to wall hangings in the stairway to the second floor, Did a great job on that also. He hauled everything away, my place was spotless when he left. The week previously I had new floors installed on the first floor and tile in the upstairs bathrooms. One of the toilets wasn't set right and leaked onto the bathroom floor. The installer sent back another crew and re-seated the toilet. A few days letter a started seeing a water streak develop on the ceiling. At that points I had no confidence in the flooring company and called The Helping Handyman. He fixed the problem and let me know what the problem was. I also had him re-seat the toiled in the other bathroom. He did a great job in very little time. The flooring company agreed to pay for fixing the ceiling. As the group I contracted to fix the ceiling took down all the fixtures they commented on how excellent the installation was on the ones The Helping Handyman and asked for Darrell's number. It would take me hours to repair and realign the system after they left. I took photos on all three occasions and sent them in but to no avail. The contract they gave me explicitly states that they will pull weeds if they "get out of control", otherwise they will spray them. Some of our weeds were over four feet tall! I could not get anyone to call me until I refused to pay. Even then, their response was to blame me for not having them come more frequently than once per quarter. So be aware, they may trash your property, breach the contract and then blame you for not spending more money with them.

I needed a 2-plug electrical outlet relocated on the wall and replaced with a 4-plug outlet and a TV mounted on that wall with a mount that I had purchased. Mr. H quoted a price based on that description. I questioned if they should see the job first and was told no, the price is firm. The worker arrived at 9:30AM. Due to his incompetence he was here all day and had very little if any experience, as he was consulting "How To YouTube" Videos on his phone for every step of the job. He didn't have the tools and supplies needed and had to run to Lowes to purchase them. As he began to mount the TV he asked if I had a socket for his drill that would fit the head of the lag bolt for screwing into the stud, because it was too hard to do by hand. I went to a neighbor who let me borrow one, which he slyly tossed in his tool bucket and took it with him when he left. He finished around 4:30PM and showed me that the outlet worked by testing one of the plugs. When paying the bill on his computer tablet which showed an amount due of $560.00. The quote was $390.00. The worker phoned Mr. H and put me on the phone, and he explained that because he was here for many hours, he needed to charge me extra and for the other supplies he bought at Lowes, which were a spackling trowel and a large tub of spackle. I explained his flawed logic of me having to pay for his worker's tools, a large tub of spackle and hours that were never mentioned in the quote and paid the original price quoted. That evening, my wife and I settled in to watch TV, but now the TV would not function. I spent 3 hours on the phone with LG TV and Direct TV trying to figure out why I have a picture but cannot connect to Direct TV. We discovered that two of the new four outlets were not working. The worker came back the next morning and fixed it, using YouTube instructions again on his phone. I also took back the socket he stole and returned it to my neighbor. FINALLY finished? NOPE! That night I replaced a burned-out bulb in a lamp on an adjoining wall to the TV. It wasn't the bulb. Two of our wall outlets were not working because he created a short circuit in the new TV outlet. So much for his grasp of YouTube instructions. NOW, Mr. Handyman had to hire a REAL electrician to come out and fix it, which he did.
