Hands down the best service I have experienced in the Myrtle Beach area. The whole process was virtual, I never met Al Smith in person but with all the great reviews I read online, made my decision easy to proceed with trusting him with the down payment and access to my unit. I guess when I interviewed him on the phone, he came across someone I could trust to handle my renovation to our condo in Wedgwood Barefoot Resort in north Myrtle Beach. He and his crew are experienced contractors, really nice people and so easy to work with. Being in Pennsylvania and not able to be onsite, Al made sure he communicated with me in a timely manner and respectful way. It's really hard to find contractors that are committed and follow through with their timeline and provide above and beyond good service and great quality workmanship. I know it can be intimidating trusting someone you never met to access your home and giving them 50 % of the down payment but I can assure you that A&J is trustworthy and honest. We have been very pleased with the 4 jobs we have hired A & J Custom Carpentry to do for us. They are an honest, great group of hard working, respectful people who take great pride to do the job right the first time. Al Smith, Chuck, Brian and Carlos have all done fabulous work on our condo. So far they have: 1. Removed popcorn from all of ceiling on our 1850 sq foot condo. 2. Painted the hall, living and kitchen. 3. Built and consulted with us (thank you Brian) on where to place our electric fireplace. 4. The guest bath; isn't it gorgeous?! 5. I interviewed several companies in NMB before selecting A&J. I believed their work ethic and common sense approach - coupled with their sense of excellent design - would be a match for my project - a significant remodel of a top floor condo on Ocean Blvd. I was not disappointed. Al was superb! He was completely on top of the entire project, and he always knew who to call, how to solve a problem and had excellent recommendations on the key decisions throughout. Finally - Al admits that he has a penchant for getting the details right - and this was evident throughout the project. A&J completed a renovation of the exterior porch in my condo which had experienced water damage. The work consisted of tile removal, subfloor repairs, waterproofing, tiling, and reinstallation of screening. As I live elsewhere, I needed a company I could trust to complete the work efficiently and correctly without being able to directly monitor it. Al and his crew were great to work with and did a very thorough and professional job, keeping me informed of progress through pictures and communications.
