I brought some pictures of my fence problems to their Kalispell location and spoke with one of the gentlemen at the front desk. I know how busy contractors and service providers currently are in the Flathead Valley but the staff member was very nice and patient. Ultimately he steered me towards a DIY repair, citing the amount of money I would save, then walked me through how to properly complete the job. Rather than nicking me for a fencing job, Mild (Montana) Fence provided me with great service at no charge. The fence repair is complete and (if I do say so myself,) looks pretty darn nice! This time we decided to give Valley Fence a call since their ad showed up on my Facebook feed and see how they compared in price. I first reached out on 4/9 and Cooper responded via text and set up a site visit for 4/17. Upon walking the job he said we'd had his proposal on 4/20. Today is 4/22 and I have called, texted and emailed to get an update and received no response. I went to Google to see if there was a different phone number to call, there was not, but I did see the 2 star review written by Christina 2 months ago and the headaches they experienced with a lack of follow up and communication. On the other hand, Jakob from Montana Fence came out to see our new project on 4/20 and the very next morning I had the proposal from them (as promised!)! After reading Christina's review, experiencing 2-3 days with no return call, email or text; I attempted to go to the Valley Fence website and discovered the website is no longer valid (invalid website error received on both my laptop and iPhone). I spent over 20 years working in the commercial/industrial service HVAC industry; customer service and follow up is essential to doing business!!! I was paid to babysit contractors then....I'm now retired and have no desire to chase down a contractor who can't even deliver a proposal as promised....I'd hate to think what a PITA it's going to be dealing with Valley Fence after they have our 50% down payment and no one returns calls! It takes less than 2 seconds to respond to a text or email and state you need more time to send a proposal....but apparently they can't even handle that. Also, he left dried out stucco on the door itself. Even on our scheduled day for him to come out, he said "I have to do roofing today." So he simply cast me aside until it was in his best interest, despite him agreeing to the day and time. The actual installation of the doors themselves seems to be solid. But I could've gotten that for less with some sub-par Home Depot hired contractor. I was really excited initially based off the one review, but unfortunately he is the best we have in this area. The other small contractors are only worse from what I've heard from citizens of this area.
