This is my second time to this eye care center. This year when I visited with insurance. The staff did not know how to do anything. So after sitting in the place for 2.5 hrs. Going through the eye exam etc. finding glasses, which were supposedly covered after 65 days after pickup the corporate place sends me a bill after I Fully paid. The problem here was. I was advised for customer retention they would honor what I paid at David for the blue light protection on my glasses. Well not only did they not honor that they decided to charge more and bill after glasses were fully paid for and picked up. Buyers beware. This place is not proper. Not to mention the glasses are terrible. They ate only for reading screen use. I have never received a pair of glasses like this. They blur my vision and give me a headache. I am afraid to go back and ask for new ones since they messed up. I feel they will try to bill Me for some other bogus charge. I will be contacting NY state for Insurance regulation issues. This is what you bring to our community "advanced eye care". You will not last long with Buisness tactics like this. I went when this place was Called My Eye Dr. The place was supposed to be freshened up with this new corp taking over. Watch the mold. I had allergies for days after my visit. Denise the sale person is very rude. I was given a price for glasses of $300 by a salesman. When I came in to order it she told me that person was wrong and the price was $671 . I asked why so much more and she said he only works here 2 days a week and it was not here problem. I asked her can she do better on the price and she kept saying I don't know what to tell you it's not my problem . I am here now and she never ordered my glasses and said i never left a deposit that she never asked for. And again keeps saying it's not her problem over and over again read more

I've only seen the Dr here once a while ago so I don't want to base my rating off of that, although I do remember he wasn't the nicest. Kinda surprised this place only has 1 star.. came in today to get new glasses they were packed and I was still in and out quick they're always nice and helpful. read more

My family has been going to Dr. Modesto for years now. He has always been kind and accommodating to us. He sees us immediately when there is an emergency. The front desk lady (Jean) is always nice and friendly towards us. Whenever, we miss ordering our contact lenses on time, they always give us trials so that we wouldn't have a time without any lenses. Also, when our glasses need fixing, they are always willing to fix them for us, free of charge. They have taken care of all our eye care needs for many years and have treated us very well ever since the beginning. read more

Just switched to a chain eye glass store and discovered that advanced eye care has been ripping us off for years. Was a very loyal customer here and always provided my insurance benefits for myself and my family and was always told that the benefits covered either a portion of contacts or eyeglasses. Discovered at the chain eye place that a full years worth of contacts are fully covered by our insurance, and no the insurance did not change, AND glasses are covered. I am so annoyed that for the last 10 years I have been paying out of pocket, getting a rebate for a small portion, of our families contacts and glasses when it should have always been covered by our insurance plan. This place made it sound like we had minimal eye coverage when in fact we always had excellent eye coverages. I will no longer be giving them our money and do not recommend this place. read more

Be prepared to have the staff sell you glasses that are more than you need or want. Then have to argue to get them to change an order or to refund you when they overcharge you for your purchase .Be ready to hear the words " misunderstanding" "miscommunications" for charges added after the fact to an exam that was supposed to be 100% covered.On and on ....the staff is not straightforward, they are argumentative, not friendly. I was trying to do the right thing by supporting a local business but FORGET IT . Terrible experience all around will never go back . Back to Costco we go where we never once had a problem in all the years of going there! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE The woman at the front desk didn't acknowledge our presence when we walked in. I needed to call her attention to let her know that I was there for an appointment. She initially turned her head toward us but did not respond. After a few moments trying to figure out if she heard us, she came over with a clip board and simply said "back and front, give me your card when your done." In addition to my vision insurance card, she asked for my medical insurance card, which I did not have. After stating that she needed it I asked why--her responses were unclear and deceiving and eventually backed down and said she actually didn't need it. Her behavior was outright aggressive and unprofessional. Additionally, she was eating behind the front desk as well as over the area where patients try on contact lenses. This is filthy and unacceptable. The eye doctor was courteous and friendly, however, he dismissed my concerns that the lenses on his equipment seemed too foggy and scratched to determine which lens I could see more clearly through. I needed to ask about getting a paper prescription--the dr seemed bothered by this and was reluctant to give me one. Clearly he wanted me to go through him to buy his overpriced stock of glasses and contacts. read more

If you are looking for progressive lenses, which require precise measurement and fitting, this is not a good place to come. I ordered 2 pair of glasses with high-end frames and progressive lenses. ($1600) The first pair were measured correctly, but the frames dug into my nose causing enough pain that I couldn't wear them for more than an hour. After 3 trips back for haphazard adjustments, I was about to return them but my wife convinced me to take them to Lenscrafters in Lake Grove. Here, they immediately diagnosed the problem and changed the size of the nose pads to more evenly distribute the weight of the frames. Fifteen minutes later, I was good to go, and they did this FREE of charge - even though I didn't purchase the glasses from them! The second pair had a larger frame, so while the RX was the same, the positioning of the lenses in the frame was different. Unfortunately, the optometrist incorrectly measured for this and when the glasses were delivered, I could not see anything in the distance. So, back again to be re-measured and some 30 days later I had a satisfactory second pair. Can you guess where I am going the next time I need glasses? read more

I am a healthcare professional and was extremely disappointed with this office's performance and attitude. The eye exam was just fair. I was told "your eye pressure is a little above normal" with no explanation what this meant or what to do with this information. The 'fitting' was a joke. I tried on about 30 frames in about 5 minutes without any measuring or insight into frames that would fit my small head. I chose the pair that looked nice and were pretty, but they fit poorly and I returned them after the first day of wear. The staff acted annoyed when I asked, in person at the office, for an itemized list for the cost of the rejected first pair of frames to compare them to the second pair of frames I ordered, since I didn't recall any discussion about cost. I was dismissed by Barbara after I waited 10 minutes while she was talking on the phone and supervising her 5 year old granddaughter. She told me to call back the next day to speak with the person who wrote the specs on my card which she was unable or unwilling to decipher. This person, (I wish I could remember her name), not so graciously, called me the next day and informed me, " I already told you the frames were the same price". The second pair fit better but the lenses seem slightly off. I spent a lot of money but I feel did not get good customer service at all. read more

Needed progressive lenses to replace an older pair of Definity high quality lenses made by Johnson and Johnson. They said they could get them. Glasses came in and distance vision and side to side vision was blurred. Went back and the Dr. said he made them too strong. Just got new prescription and side to side is still blurred. Have to go back again. I don't trust he is giving me the high quality lens I had before. Must find a better place. read more

An absolutely awful experience!! I was sold glasses that do nothing. They told me to give them a chance for my eyes to adjust. When there was still no improvement after three weeks I went back and the Doctor was very rude and insisted they were working. How can another person tell you see clearer when you don't? If his answer was based on the eye chart I was able to read it either way. Instead of offering any other solutions he couldn't get me out of his office fast enough. This is how a Doctor behaves? In my opinion he is a glorified salesperson. You go to his store, then your sold a product and after the payment is made he wants nothing to do with you. read more
