Brought my Elvis clock over hoping there was a fix to get the clock ticking again and his pendulum hips swinging too. The clock is probably close to twenty years old and had been alternating losing time for a number of years, intermittent hip swinging, or neither working at all. Dennis gave it a look see and determined just as I thought, that it needed a new mechanism. Sounded like a simple enough fix, which he confirmed, however that new part is super expensive. He suggested if a new clock is available online that's less than the cost of a fix to go that route. A quick Google and bingo, it would be more than half the cost of what that replacement piece would be. He could have not even offered that suggestion, but he's an honest broker. It was really difficult to find anyone who could work on an electric vintage clock I had from the late 50s that belonged to my grandmother. It's heavy brass and has an animation feature that I love. I was fortunate to find Dennis, and he was the first person to ever get inside the clock and clean it and tune it up. It had gotten really noisy, and I was afraid it was eventually going to die completely, but now it just runs silently and perfectly. I'm a sentimental fool for an old Panasonic flip radio clock i've had forever. When one day it started making a grinding noise I took to my local Los Angeles electronics fix it guy, who stuck it on a shelf for a year before telling me I needed a new motor and he couldn't find one. I made a few more calls, this time targeted to clock repair businesses, everyone said they couldn't fix this particular machine.
