Just so everyone knows, we have been to this shooting range twice, and both times the older gentleman working there has been completely disrespectful. He has yelled at me and my family on both visits. I have been shooting for 8 years and have trained many people, and none of his yelling was related to gun safety or us breaking any rules. He simply seemed to yell at people for no reason and was consistently rude. Because of the way we were treated, we will never be coming back to this place. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly and professional environment. read more

The price was very good. That's the only thing I would say that's good about this place. I would recommend anybody of darker tone. Do not go to this establishment. The man treated me like I was bothering him the entire time I was there I would ask questions he would barely respond when I pay to leave. I placed the money in his hand. He didn't even have the respect enough to pass me the money back in my hand nothing was ever handed hand. He just tossed it on the counter, and that was the end of that. read more

This place needs a good cleaning, you trip over all the spent ammo. The guy at the front counter needs to learn some manners. Talks to customers with little respect. Fudds galore. No "shooting fast." No shooting a rifle unless at a bench (there is a physical barrier preventing you from shooting while standing). No shooting at 50yds unless you shoot at 25 first. Pistols only at 10 yards, and the dugout was built only for those shorter than 6 foot so if you're shooting pistols be prepared to duck the whole time... The old "whitebeard" RSO sounds like Boomhauer and is more interested in looking at people's guns and telling people to slow their rate of fire than clearing weapons and counseling people who muzzle those downrange during a ceasefire... The front desk guy is a few braincells short of a rock and has never missed a donut in his life. Has a gunsmith bench and some tools, but don't let him fool you. The guy is NOT a gunsmith... I will say that this place is good cheap location if you solely want to zero a rifle. They provide you with a basic target on a cardboard backer and the range fee is $6/hr. If you actually want to train and become a more proficient shooter, they'd prefer you go elsewhere. read more

It had been a while since I've shot here. Mainly because I moved. I have since acquired more firearms to make an outing at AB that much more worth it. Now that I've been to more ranges around the metro, I would say this is not the place for a newbie to shoot without someone a little more accustomed to the culture of shooting outdoors. If you must shoot alone on your first time shooting outdoors, I'd at least observe the safety precautions the shooters take as they wait and call a cold range to check targets. Otherwise, AB is gold. It's still just $6/shooter for an hour. How wild is that for pricing?! Their RCB range ammo is a little pricey though. An hour on the range and their 50-round box of .223 was still cheaper than renting a lane indoors and getting two boxes of range ammo. Sure. Rifles are only shot from a bench. Not a deal breaker for me. read more

This place is rundown and it's not very well cared for. 99% of the people come here to shoot handguns but the handgun section is literally the smallest part of the entire range. If there is more than 3 people in the handgun section it's super tight & because there are no dividers dividing each shooter and if you're standing next to another shooter, you literally get hit in the face with empty shells from the guy next to you. They need to make the handgun section twice as big and spread out where each person is standing or put in dividers. more than a few times my wife and I have come here to shoot handguns, and because there was three or four people shooting handguns we just turned around and left, it's very poorly designed and run down. If the majority of people are shooting handguns why would this be the smallest area of your range when you have all this empty space for rifles that nobody uses. smh read more

Good place to shoot outdoors, although it is quite a drive for me. What I like: Friendly employees, covered range, and at $6 an hour it is CHEAP!!! Range captain the weekend, and self policing when I've been there during the week. I'm fine with this, but it sure doesn't hurt to keep an extra watchful eye, especially if you're walking down to the 100 yard targets. The way it is set up some shooters won't be able to see you due to the berm at the shorter distances. What I don't like: For rifles you're pretty much just bench shooting. I guess you could shoot offhand (I haven't tried and not sure they'd allow it) at 25 yards, but the longer distances have a screen that has to be shot under. And there certainly isn't a place for prone, sitting, etc... Still, it is the cheapest place for me to go, short of an even further out WMA! read more

This range isn't for those who need their hand held. It's more for those that have had some experience before and prefer the rugged atmosphere of the hobby/sport itself. I wanted a long distance range that WASN'T going to up charge me for silly stuff. I wanted a range that was a little more rugged and didn't attempt to appeal to the "gentlemen's club" atmosphere but more to us regular "blue collar Joe's." THATS these guys. They're helpful and nice but not overbearing. Of course, safety IS a huge concern with them but I didn't feel like they were hovering.. I appreciated that. If you are a vet who just wants some time with your rifle, I'd definitely say come here. The atmosphere is comforting:) read more

Very nice staff and range dude. Gave us a couple of targets to go along with the very reasonable range fee. Nice place to pop your rifle along with a pistol. The staff helped out my bro when his AR jammed. Fun outdoor alternative to indoor ranges. If you're ever way out here in the outskirts stop in for some bang bang. read more

I go there and like it. It's clean , neat, and friendly. Also it is VERY reasonable to shoot. I have enjoyed the safe range. I like shooting at a WMA, but time and distance make Advanced much more "cost effective". Hope to meet you there, Shoot well and enjoy. read more

1st Trip to this range: Overall a good value and a nice enough range. It's hard to beat $6/hr. for a range fee. The shooting area is covered which is great to keep the sun off. The range officer (a senior gentleman) was friendly enough and kept an eye on things, which is all you can ask for. He was NOT looking over shoulders and being a know-it-all, which can be a problem at ranges sometimes. One thing I found a bit odd was, since it was my 1st time there, they wanted me to start off on the 25 yard range and make sure I was sighted in accurately enough there before I moved out to the 50 yard range. I've never encountered such a thing before. But since it had been a long time since I'd even been to a rifle range, I didn't mind 'proving my stuff' on the 25 yards first. I guess they don't want people who are just godawful bad spraying bullets off target like a yahoo if it's their first time around. Not a big deal, but just be aware and don't take it personally. The shooting benches were okay, not the best I've seen but not the worst. If you're a tall person, you may find the seated shooting position a little hard to get comfortable in relation to the barrier that runs in front of the benches. The barrier/blind is to keep yahoos from getting their muzzles up too high and lofting bullets at the neighboring land owners - again, totally understandable. But for tall folks, it can make for a bit of a hunched position to ensure you are shooting under the barrier. Each range distance has 4 positions...with 10, 25, 50, and 100 yard sections. So if four people are already using the 50 yard positions, you're going to have to use the longer or shorter positions or just wait til their done. I agree with the other reviewer - if you're going down to the 50 or 100, make sure YOU tell the other shooters you are going down there. The way the backstop berms are set up, someone might not see you. One other head's-up ... even when the R.O. calls for a clear / cold range, he didn't go and inspect chambers. If you've got some inexperienced shooters or yahoos on the line, you might ask if he can check chambers are cleared. Also, when the range is cold, I've always seen that anyone who is not walking out to targets is supposed to stand well back of their firearms and not even approach the benches. That was not the case when I was there. The other folks there all seemed pretty experienced, so there were no issue or else I would have spoken up or talked to people directly. So, between just those few minor things, and the limited shooting positions, the difficult fit for me at the benches/shooting barrier, I am only giving 4 starts instead of 5. BUT a good time was had, the price is great, and I will definitely travel out there again in the future - A good ol' country range - it's worth the drive! read more
