We had my wife's SUV in a while back for a wheel bearing going bad. Tony notified us, and showed us, the other worn suspension parts on the car. They had everything replaced quickly with high end parts for a reasonable price. Very satisfied. On a separate occasion, when I was out of town for work, they removed the rear seat of the same car for my wife when something was spilled so she could clean it, then they re-installed the seat when she brought it back. Absolutely the worst service in the area. Make sure you go to a different car repair for a second opinion. This service will charge you for any kind of unnecessary repair. The final price for the tune up and repairs was less the originally quoted, the service was quick, and the people were friendly. Back in June, I had the team do a major tune up on my older tractor mower and they did an excellent job. Today, when I got on my mower it would not start so I did some of my own trouble shooting but nothing seemed to work. Drove down and talked with Tony and he gave me a couple of tips to look at without any charge and it actually worked. We took our snow blower in on Tuesday night to be looked at since I couldn't get it started. Advanced Automotive called with a reasonable estimate Wednesday morning, and we got a call that the snow blower was ready on Thursday. Very fast service! When we picked it up tonight, Liam loaded it into our car and answered all our questions. He was very helpful and kind, and we appreciate that very much. I was very happy when I was told they could pick it up the next morning, but I was thrilled once it was picked up and got the call with the (very reasonable) quote telling me it could be fixed and returned that same day! These guys are scheisters. Told us our Honda lawnmower of 3 years was in need of over $250 in parts and when we said we would take it elsewhere they wanted to keep it and "dispose" of it. Took it somewhere else it they started it right away, charged us $25 for the review and service.Also had to call Advanced for an update on the repair after a wee of it being in the shop. They said they would email us the invoice with the needed repairs and was never received. Shay business going on here!! read more

Had a transmission rebuilt here I believe around Dec 2005/Jan 2006. Worst mistake ever. Two days after getting the car back from them, we traveled to Iowa (which is home for us). Guess what Transmission failed, went to leave a store and the car lunged forward, then started making this horrible banging noise from the transmission. The shop owner's response not my problem to get the car back here, that's not covered by the warranty. They thought it was acceptable to leave a customer stranded well over 200 miles from home after their poor quality work caused a problem. We finally got them to agree to let us take the car to a shop in Des Moines that we trusted. The shop in DSM wasn't allowed to opened the transmission up, but were able to confirm that it was definently an internal transmission failure. To this day I'm not sure what my trusted shop said to the owner of Adance Automotive, but he ended up towing the car back to Batavia from Des Moines. After about two weeks we called and they said yeah it's done come and get it whenever you want, they didn't even tell us what the problem was I had to call the shop in Des Moines to find out, and guess what they had even found out what the problem was. About a month later, had the car at the local dealership for a repair and guess what they called and said, "Your transmission is leaking". I of course declined to have them touch it since it was still under warranty with Advance, asked the dealership to call Advance and advise of the problem (specifically where the leak was coming from) and to expect the car back, a third time. Again, Advance had the car for another two weeks, and again, did not call to advise repairs were completed. We thought ok, surely this the end right? Wrong. About a month later another trip to Iowa, went to leave my parents house and guess what, a puddle of transmission fluid on the ground. Not sure what happened this time as I couldn't get the car up off the ground to check to see where the fluid was coming from, but oddly the transmission and power steering fluid (both took ATX fluid) were full and by the time we returned home to Aurora there was no more leak, so I didn't contact Advance Automotive as the transmission was shifting fine, not leaking. I'm wondering if a technician didn't overfill the fluid and as it heated up during the trip didn't start to overflow. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with my experience and will never take another vehicle or small engine there again ( note they do small engine work also) due to the following factors: 1. Poor workmanship 2. Unwillingness to work with customer's to correct problems 3. Poor communications 4. Length of time to complete repairs (they had the car for a total of 6 weeks at minimum) read more

worst repair shop I have ever dealt with. bought a used lawn mower, after about 6 uses something popped and would not run again. took it back and they said I tried to change the spark plug, because it was not new, and there was no oil in it. they told me I was lying. truth is I don't think they ever did any maintenance on it and sold it as is read more

Before you commit, check ACE or other places. I agreed to their estimate and then happen to be in ACE later. I talked to them and their price to fix my snowblower was a third of what Advanced was charging me. So check around first. It did trouble me a bit when they said that they were going to change my oil on my two-stroke engine. Can't imagine what they charge for cars! read more
