This is not our primary home and requires a 45-minute drive to check. Not to mention, the following day the driveway was not plowed, leaving roughly 2 ft of snow. But Lassiter Excavation was so good that I couldn't continue to be lazy.  For context, I was replacing an old 35,000-gallon swimming pool with a skinnier lap pool. Lassiter started by completely removing the massive 1975 pool, including every scrap of concrete and piping.  Then they backfilled and compacted. Working to my soils engineer's specifications, they imported and compacted 18 truckloads of quarry fines in carefully controlled 8-inch lifts through the full 12-foot depth of the deep end, all the way to finished grade. They used multiple pieces of equipment, including jumping jacks, a Bobcat, and a vibratory sheepsfoot roller (which I had to look up), and they coordinated compaction testing throughout the process.  When they were done, it looked like a pool had never been there. The site was fully prepared for the new excavation, which Lassiter then completed flawlessly.  I measured their forms with a laser level and laser tape measure, and length, width, diagonals, position and elevations were all within 1/8 inch. That's impressive considering the new lap pool is nearly 60 feet long. When they were finished digging, the walls and floor were razor straight and right on their marks. The crews were outstanding -- friendly, hardworking, detail-oriented, and consistently professional. They maintained an exceptionally clean jobsite throughout the project and even helped me reclaim some old redwood decking.  Special thanks to Santana, Ricardo, Daniel, Jose and team for answering all my questions and caring so much about the end result. We decided to go back to using just regular tile and somehow their price didn't change. Kelly said the $1200 price increase was due to they needed materials - Hardie Backer & Thin Set. However, there were many trees that were hung up and were too dangerous for me to take down on my own. Friends recommended All Phase Land Clearing. Troy stopped by for an assessment. The challenge was to maintain our forest screening while mitigating the risk of wildfire and encouraging healthy growth. Troy estimated that the job would take about 4 days. The earliest start date available was several months out. We signed on. I requested proof of insurance and the certificates were promptly emailed to me. The start date was delayed one week due to equipment failure. When the crew did arrive, I gave a brief review of my expectations. They then lost no time in getting down to work. Four days later I was amazed at the transformation of our overgrown forest. Younger trees now basked in the sunlight, "widow makers" had been cut down, and a sprinkling of fresh wood chips now covered our meandering paths. There was one mishap. Perhaps one of the machines in use clipped a small power pole that supplied electricity to our garden. Troy responded immediately to my concern and repaired the damage.
