Mostly she is intuitive and knows about your individual skin profile. I didn't mention that I was having some sinus problems around my eyes but I noticed during the facial she spent a lot of time in this area. I saw a huge difference in reduced puffiness the next morning.

Which I was like ok I've been here before so no big deal. When I was asked by the therapist what they could do for me I immediately told her I was pregnant. Well the vibe completely changed. Her reaction was to look down at my stomach and say " they never told me that!" She continued to explain that I couldn't get the massage I booked for but "I'll figure it out" I couldn't help but feel as if my pregnancy was some kind of inconvenience that needed to be "figured out". I would have expected a more professional response like "that's great! Congratulations! Let me adjust the massage to be more comfortable for you" Maybe I'm too sensitive but this really ruined my experience. I addressed my shoulder issues but received no extra attention to my problem area. When I mentioned I worked on my feet she quickly exclaimed "I can't massage your feet". I wasn't asking that, I was just giving her some background info. I first saw Marjena but she has since moved to the Hand and Stone College St location. I will be seeing her there next time!

Look no further than Tokyo Shiatsu Clinic aka Suzuki Shiatsu at The Beaches/The Beach. It's a one-room clinic with massage tables. There are no barriers or dividers so when you get a massage it's in full view of everyone else. It's a good thing you keep your clothes on, huh? There are several massage therapists (mostly Japanese) that have differing levels of English fluency but are so OMG-amazing at what they do. The only cons are you'll occasionally hear a fellow massagee snoring (yes they are that good) and the fact that they don't provide insurance receipts. They take reservations and walk-ins and if/when you call and you get voicemail, leave a message and they'll promptly call you back.

Suzuki shiatsu has no bells, no whistles and no kimonos - but the massages and price are amazing. The masseuses are top-notch, though it is worth trying a couple out to find the best match. At $12 for 10 minutes, it's certainly doable. It's actually the best combination of price and service that I've seen for massages. If you are in the area, at the beach, and need a kink worked out, these pleasant, courteous people, who you'd think would have forearms like tree branches, are definitely the people to see.

I asked some questions as I was interested in getting some care and talked about some of the pain I've been experiencing. I booked my appointment then and there for a couple of weeks later. Fast forward to today where I had my appointment with Alan for an initial assessment. I've had physio before but let me tell you this was a different experience. Alan took the time to get to know me, asked great questions, and was extremely thorough. It's like you're getting a personal coach that is interested in helping you through the stages of recovery and achieving your goals. After that initial appointment I actually have a 4 week plan, stretching exercises to do everyday day and a written document describing what I want to achieve. This experience was not only engaging but their model is so innovative. I'm now starting my journey with them on my personalized treatment plan which I can't believe I'm excited about and engaged fully in the process. Also shout out to Jay and Trish. They were at front desk today and truly a pleasure to talk to.

I wanted to update my original post to comment on why I felt that it was an inappropriate massage…read more I didn't give details before but I noticed that there were other reviews with similar experiences that are not recommended because reviewers used an anonymous account. While I was on my stomach, Ed pressed his crotch into my head and face while was massaging me. He also put his hands down the back of my underwear and was sliding his fingers in between my butt cheeks. There was no draping or tucking going on, the sheet was up and my body was fully exposed while he pushed his crotch on my face and head. I leaned my neck the opposite direction to try to get his crotch away from my face. I was in such shock and felt scared to say something or try to leave the situation. This is not a situation where I would feel more comfortable with a female instead. These are basic things they teach in massage school (cover peoples areas that aren't being massaged, don't lean your privates on your clients body and head, and don't put your hands in your clients underwear or slide your fingers into their butt cracks and squeeze their butts).

When I was laying flat on my stomach he was massaging my legs and as he continued to progress up my thigh his hands went up my shorts and were at the border of my butt-cheek. It was very difficult to tell if it was still professional as I felt paralyzed. The second incident happened when he started to massage my upper back and shoulders, he had to stand above my head at the top of the massage table. As he was massaging me I could feel his private parts on the top of my head. As an overall experience I do not recommend this place to anyone, it felt perverted. I am not the only person who feels this way, I have read other reviews on this business as well. My story is similar to the other person's post.
