Our business is located in West Sacramento, a few blocks from Susan's cleaning. We hired them a few…read moreyears to do the basic cleaning in our office every other weekend (while we were closed). Susan's did a reasonable job. Not great, but not bad. But earlier this year, an employee stole $1000 cash and a blank check from our office manager's desk. We discovered the cash missing on the monday following Susan's team cleaning our office on Saturday. We contacted Susan (the owner) and she told us to contact the police as she could not take action without a police report. The police department took the report and let us know that while it would be filed, there was not much they could do because while it was logical that the cleaning employee stole the missing cash, they did not have direct evidence of it, and the amount was too low for resources to be allocated to an in-depth investigation - which was logical. Then a week later, we realized they employee had also stolen a check because the bank cashed it for $400 - and it was made out to Susan's employee - by NAME! We contacted Susan who immediately refunded us the amount of the check that was stolen and cashed; and also told us she had terminated the employee. However - Susan refused to refund us the cash the employee also stole. She said barring the police concluding her employee stole it, she would not refund it. We filed a claim with Susan's bonding company (Tokyo Marine Insurance) and they rejected the claim saying that without an arrest, they would not pay out the claim. At that point, Susan went silent, no further communication. Obviously we terminated our service agreement with Susan's Cleaning. The experience was pretty negative as you can imagine. Presented with clear evidence of theft by one of her employee's, Susan chose to do as little as possible instead of doing the right thing. She refunded they money from the check her employee wrote to herself (so documented evidence) and refused to refund the cash by actually telling us "maybe someone else stole the cash, how do i know?". Really Susan? Obviously 1 star and not recommended. Employees are not trustworthy, and the owner is unfortunately not either.
