So about a month ago I had contacted Auto Salvage for a used motor for my Acura MDX which I was…read moretold it only had 106,xxx miles on it. So I was like awesome let's go ahead and replace it. I had to take my truck back several times after they "fixed" the engine because of the check engine light still coming on. I found out it was the knock sensor and they told me that it had nothing to do with what they fixed. So now I'm becoming irritated because the light was never on before they touched my motor. So instead of complaining I took my vehicle to the Honda/Acura dealership for a full detailed inspection. Not only did these ppl not replace the gaskets but they used a sealant to glue all the parts together which doesn't allow the air to flow through the motor properly. As the dealership further inspected my vehicle they noticed that the miles written on the used engine were not the same miles that Auto Salvage had originally told me. The miles were written at 140,xxx when the engine was supposed to only have 106,xxx miles. Now they are refusing to fix the damage that they have caused. I'm not the type to file a law suit but that's exactly what I plan on doing after missing work and paying an extra $1,100 to fix their mess! I hope this review will stop people from spending money with these people! HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNPROFESSIONALISM TO ANYONE!!!

Contacted Absolute Auto Salvage, their web site showed they had the part but to call for a price. Called, was quoted a price of $50 but the guy (who wouldn't give his name) said I should stop by and he would go out in the yard and check that the part wasn't too rusty and was ok for sale. The next day put my van back together, drive over there and they tell me they don't have the part. Mentioned that the part was still on their web site and that I had been quoted a price the day before but it made no difference. "Don't have the part" (just like a record), he didn't even ask anyone else in the office if they had talked to me. I won't waste my time going there again.

Oh that so didn't sound right, but you know what I meant. So she called over a fellow my age who confirmed she was right and then showed me how to install it. When I looked a little baffled, he offered to come outside and help me, and I'm pretty sure by "help" he meant he was going to do it himself. I put on my big boy pants and insisted I could do it myself. His instructions were so good, I didn't need the Youtubes. I came back a couple days later for something else and he remembered me. I'm not talking about some fake scripted over-friendliness, I hate that. He had a bit of a crotchety air about him that exuded competence and world weariness at the same time. The sort of attitude that comes from knowing what he's doing coupled with having to spend all day talking to people like me who don't. Kind of like those great neighborhood ACE hardware stores of yore. You can waste a lot of time in area auto parts stores that don't seem to think customers should be bothering them, or you could come straight here and get what you need.
