NAPA 3901 Williamsburg Rd, Richmond VA I needed 1 grease…read morefitting for a lawn mower. I was asked what size I needed, and I did not know but had the part that the fitting went into. The guy on the counter said they stocked individual grease fittings, but he had no way of measuring the hole to tell what size I needed. It would take him hours to try and look up all the fittings they had in stock to see if any of them would fit and he was not going to do that. The only thing he could do is sell me an assortment of fittings for $72.00 and most likely one of them would fit. He loudly told me all of the reasons why he was powerless to help me, I told him that I felt he could do better than that, so he took the part to his manager. He returned and said that the manager said I would need to go to the manufacturer of the lawn mower and there was nothing they could do. I then went to Pleasants Hardware. When I walked through the door a lady asked how she could help me, and I told her I needed a grease fitting. Before she could answer the lady with her back to me who was ringing up a customer yells out, all the way to the back of the store to aisle 16 on your left and they will be on your left part way down the aisle. Sure enough there was exactly what I needed for $5 and the total amount of time I was in the store was measured in minutes. I have managed parts and service locations for over 40 years, and I was completely blown away with the lack of customer service at this NAPA store. The guy on the counter was insolent, lazy and clearly not someone I would want working on one of my parts counters. Sadly, it gets worse as his manager agreed with him and put his blessing on sending me out the door as an unsatisfied customer. I would think that a grease fitting would certainly be more in line with a part you would expect to buy and an auto parts store, rather than a hardware store. But I have to admit that the lady at the hardware store with her back to me and without looking at the fitting was able to tell me exactly where it was located in the store. What a pleasant experience this was as compared to my treatment at NAPA

OK, I don't normally review places, but had to make an exception…read more I had used them two times previously, once for a new set of tires, which went perfectly swimmingly, fair prices, quick service, all the things you might expect, and once for a quick oil change (which was very quick, by the way, none of this jiffy lube sit forever thing). Both really good interactions, which probably deserved a good review on their own. But what really impressed me was two days ago, I was finishing up some errands at about 2pm before my delivery shift at 5pm. Go to start my car after shopping in the Kroger on Midlo turnpike, all the lights flicker but car doesn't start, indicating an electrical issue, most likely battery. After a kind and helpful fellow shopper pulled alongside and helped me jump my car to get it running, I called Sierra at the front desk and explained that I really needed to make my shift, and could I please drive right there so they could take a look? As I was afraid if I just went back to my apartment, that I'd need another jump to move the car again, and I just didn't have time. They took great care of me. Showed up a little after 2pm with my groceries, which they were kind enough to realize I was trying to keep out of the horrible heat, so they offered to let me put my eggs and other refrigerated goods in their little drink fridge in the lobby! Took my car back right away, probably jumping whatever line they had going, did some checks to confirm it was just the battery, quoted me a fair price for a replacement that they had in stock which I accepted, and within an hour, maybe less, I was rolling out in plenty of time to make my shift. Fantastic sense of urgency and professionalism, friendly and genuine staff, great service, fair prices. Seriously consider giving them a try if you haven't yet.
